Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to this caseAfter reviewing the deal, I have found that the amount for the customer's payoff of his obligation for his trade in was incorrectA dealership sends funds to a customer's existing loan to satisfy their loan when there is an open
balance on said vehicleThis balance is from the customer's obligation to a finance source that they set up when they purchased their trade in Customer's sign a payoff form allowing their finance company to accept funds on their behalf to satisfy their loanIt also states that once full payment is made, the finance company will send us the title to the trade inIn this instance, there was a shortage in what was collected from the customer at the time of saleThis can happen because of a few reasonsA customer gives us what they believe was the payoff and we send that and it wasn't enough or sometimes after we call for a payoff quote, a customer cancels a check that was posted but not cashed and the finance institution makes us aware that there is still a balance for us to receive the title We contacted the customer and made him aware of his shortageHe acted like it was our problem, even though it was his loan balanceIt took him a while to realize that we were not responsible to pay his debt ,but it eventually sunk in and he made good on his balance His loan has been paid in full and has been satisfiedAs for his registration paperwork, that too has been completedThe customer is a Pennsylvania resident and we are at the mercy of Harrisburg and how quickly they complete paperwork just like a customer.
