Review: In December 2013, I called around to find a cleaning company to clean an apartment that was empty due to my brother passing away. When I called Midwest, I asked [redacted] if they did just general cleaning of an apartment that was listed on their web ad. She told me that yes they did just general cleaning. I stated that the apartment that needed cleaning had been my brothers that passed away. I had health issues at that time and was unable to do the job myself. I said I would send the papers from the apartment complex that stated what needed to be cleaned. It was just a general overall cleaning. The apartment was empty except for 2 pieces of furniture. My brothers kids all live out of state, so I was handling this issue. I informed [redacted] that if she had any questions to call my cell phone. We set up a date to do the cleaning. She informed me that is cost $30.00 per hour per person to do the cleaning. I said that was all right and that it was a small 1 bedroom apartment under 700 square feet. I called the office on the morning that they were going to clean and talked with the owner and asked if he had any questions about what needed cleaning. I told him to have them call my cell phone if they had any questions. When I received the bill, they charged me for 13 hours of cleaning for $470.00. I called the owner about this and said their was no way it could take them that many hours to clean that small apartment. He stated that they had to wash down walls along with other cleaning due to smoking stains. I said yes I knew that and we owned 2 bedroom duplexes and I would clean them when the renters moved out and this included washing down walls and almost twice the size and it did not take me half the time that it took them. He stated he would talk with [redacted] and get back with me. After not hearing from him for a week, I called back and left a message. After not hearing from him I called back and left another message. He finally called me and said that is what the workers put down for time and I had to pay the bill. I talked with my nephew and he said that he would deal with them. He told the owner that he is in the service and moves, so he has hired cleaning companies and that they cleaned 3 bedroom homes for half of what we were charged. He stated that he would not pay more that $250.00 for the cleaning and the owner stated that he would come after me for the rest of the money. He told my nephew that they are a restoration company and that was their price, so my nephew paid the bill. When my nephew told me this, I told him that I hired them as general cleaning not restoration and that the walls, sink, and floors were still dirty when my sister and I went in to check the apartment. I felt that they miss represented me when I asked if they just did general cleaning which is part of their ad and they just did the restoration cleaning without calling me about this before they did the cleaning. I also did not like them threatening my nephew to sue me for the rest of the bill if he did not pay the whole bill. Thank you, [redacted] Also the carpet in the living room was not dirty as between furniture and a big rug that covered most of the open floor, you could see that the carpet was not dirty. The carpet in the bedroon did need cleaning as their was a black spot on the carpet by the door, but that spot was still their after the carpet was cleaned.Desired Settlement: I feel that it should not have cost us more than $250.00 to clean that that apartment that is under 700 square feet, and that he should apologize to my nephew for threatening to sue me for the rest of the money to get him to pay the full bill which I felt they over charged by doing restoration cleaning and not general cleaning which he never said to me that was the type of cleaning that they did.

She stated that the walls and ceiling needed to be washed due to her brothers smoking.
