Let me start by saying we have a year old house that we are restoring ourselves, we love all the unique wood trim and hard wood floors, it's irreplaceable and un-matched We have only hired out projects, and one was windows We searched around and got many bids before deciding on MW&D We chose them b/c they were "pella certified" and we got the "pella guarantee" on all windows, for half the price of what Pella quoted us Plus *** assured us, he was a "perfectionist" and wouldn't settle for anything but perfection in his own home or ours*** *** The previous owners had replaced some (not all), of the year old windows, with Pella, so we had a standard of what we were trying to match We had windows total that needed replaced *** came out, measured up, and took a sample piece of wood trim off a window to use for a stain match (We never got that piece of trim back, as they lost it, and tried replacing it with a completely different type of wood as that trim was years old & irreplaceable) We don't hear anything from him until they're ready to come out and start installing....we haven't even seen a stain sample???? How do we know if it matches the rest of our wood??....We just assume they didn't stain them all and we'd be able to do something about it if we didn't like it The guys come out to do the install, and I plead with them to be careful on the newly sanded hardwood floors, they are yellow pine and quite soft I asked if they could put some sheets or something down and my husband and I tried to move everything out of their way, so they wouldn't even have the opportunity to harm the floors We tried everything to prevent anything from getting scratched/gouged They put sheets down one day out of like After asking them numerous times to be careful, I found them dragging a night stand across the floor, that very easily could have been picked up, I know because I picked it up the day before They left a giant deep scratch about ft long across the floor b/c they were too lazy to pick it up Not to mention a window that completely gouged one of stairs All this after we plead with them to be careful and put sheets down It was complete laziness and carelessness, plain and simple I wish one of us would have been able to be home the days they were there, but we work We came home after the first day of installs, and knew we hated the stain, it did not match AT ALL, not even close!!! We immediately called ***, but apparently that's our problem b/c he already stained all windows without doing any kind sample, and "he's not going to be out $*** in windows because we don't like the stain." So now we have windows that don't match the rest of our beautiful wood As a business owner myself, or anyone with common sense, I would stain one first instead of He tried to address this issue by having his stain guy, "stain over" each window, which any it can tell you, will not work We will now have to sand/stain all the rest of the wood in the entire house so it will match the *** stain on our new windows Which would have been a lot easier to do had they given us all the leftover stain, like *** said he would, which never happened After the job was completely done, I called him, he said he forgot and would drop it off, to this day, he never came back and we've never seen that stain Ok, cosmetics, right??? Well, warmer weather came and went, and there were so many flies and lady bugs in between the windows/screens, we couldn't open any windows, as all those bugs would get in the house Everyday I'm vacuumed countless flies/lady bugs out of the house that have gotten in...and we never even opened a window! They were on the sills, the sashes, and the floors around the windows I really wish I could post a picture to this review to get the severity of the amount across It is absolutely disgusting and our old year old windows were better than these I called ***, I took pictures, videos, and tried to explain that we literally cannot open our brand new windows because of all the bugs getting in through the screens and into the houseHe said that was "normal" for west facing windows Well, it's a problem in all of them, not just the west facing onesI understand a few bugs will get in through the screens, but this is NOT normal We couldn't even see the bottom portion of the window as it was completely black and filled with bugs Call me crazy, but I really think that after having brand new windows installed, we should be able to open them The Pella windows that were NOT installed by MWD are just fine and we can open them without issue I couldn't be more disappointed and sickened by how much we spent and how *** of a job they did And I didn't even include the part where they completely mis-measured and split salvaged wood that took us months to find, and sand down DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT have these guys do anything other than an estimate for you Absolute worst decision we ever made and have to live with every single day....all while NOT being able to use open/use our brand new windows I tell as many people as I possibly can about our horrible experience I don't want anyone else to have to endure what we had to I cannot believe these guys are still in business

Let me start by saying we have a 100 year old house that we are restoring ourselves, we love all the unique wood trim and hard wood floors, it's irreplaceable and un-matched. We have only hired out 2 projects, and one was windows. We searched around and got many bids before deciding on MW&D. We chose them b/c they were "pella certified" and we got the "pella guarantee" on all windows, for half the price of what Pella quoted us. Plus [redacted] assured us, he was a "perfectionist" and wouldn't settle for anything but perfection in his own home or ours. [redacted] The previous owners had replaced some (not all), of the 100 year old windows, with Pella, so we had a standard of what we were trying to match. We had 21 windows total that needed replaced. [redacted] came out, measured up, and took a sample piece of wood trim off a window to use for a stain match. (We never got that piece of trim back, as they lost it, and tried replacing it with a completely different type of wood as that trim was 100 years old & irreplaceable). We don't hear anything from him until they're ready to come out and start installing....we haven't even seen a stain sample???? How do we know if it matches the rest of our wood??....We just assume they didn't stain them all and we'd be able to do something about it if we didn't like it. The guys come out to do the install, and I plead with them to be careful on the newly sanded hardwood floors, they are yellow pine and quite soft. I asked if they could put some sheets or something down and my husband and I tried to move everything out of their way, so they wouldn't even have the opportunity to harm the floors. We tried everything to prevent anything from getting scratched/gouged. They put sheets down one day out of like 5. After asking them numerous times to be careful, I found them dragging a night stand across the floor, that very easily could have been picked up, I know because I picked it up the day before. They left a giant deep scratch about 6 ft long across the floor b/c they were too lazy to pick it up. Not to mention a window that completely gouged one of stairs. All this after we plead with them to be careful and put sheets down. It was complete laziness and carelessness, plain and simple. I wish one of us would have been able to be home the days they were there, but we work. We came home after the first day of installs, and knew we hated the stain, it did not match AT ALL, not even close!!! We immediately called [redacted], but apparently that's our problem b/c he already stained all 21 windows without doing any kind sample, and "he's not going to be out $[redacted] in windows because we don't like the stain." So now we have 21 windows that don't match the rest of our beautiful wood. As a business owner myself, or anyone with common sense, I would stain one first instead of 21. He tried to address this issue by having his stain guy, "stain over" each window, which any it can tell you, will not work. We will now have to sand/stain all the rest of the wood in the entire house so it will match the [redacted] stain on our new windows. Which would have been a lot easier to do had they given us all the leftover stain, like [redacted] said he would, which never happened. After the job was completely done, I called him, he said he forgot and would drop it off, to this day, he never came back and we've never seen that stain. Ok, cosmetics, right??? Well, warmer weather came and went, and there were so many flies and lady bugs in between the windows/screens, we couldn't open any windows, as all those bugs would get in the house. Everyday I'm vacuumed countless flies/lady bugs out of the house that have gotten in...and we never even opened a window! They were on the sills, the sashes, and the floors around the windows. I really wish I could post a picture to this review to get the severity of the amount across. It is absolutely disgusting and our old 100 year old windows were better than these. I called [redacted], I took pictures, videos, and tried to explain that we literally cannot open our brand new windows because of all the bugs getting in through the screens and into the house. He said that was "normal" for west facing windows. Well, it's a problem in all of them, not just the west facing ones. I understand a few bugs will get in through the screens, but this is NOT normal. We couldn't even see the bottom portion of the window as it was completely black and filled with bugs. Call me crazy, but I really think that after having 21 brand new windows installed, we should be able to open them.. The Pella windows that were NOT installed by MWD are just fine and we can open them without issue. I couldn't be more disappointed and sickened by how much we spent and how [redacted] of a job they did. And I didn't even include the part where they completely mis-measured and split salvaged wood that took us months to find, and sand down. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT have these guys do anything other than an estimate for you. Absolute worst decision we ever made and have to live with every single day....all while NOT being able to use open/use our brand new windows. I tell as many people as I possibly can about our horrible experience. I don't want anyone else to have to endure what we had to. I cannot believe these guys are still in business.

Choosing a door very a very daunting task until I contacted Midwest Window and Door. [redacted] was very knowledgeable of the various products and performance I could expect of my new sliding back door. I couldn't be happier with my (now 5 year old) back sliding door, which works just as good today as it did the day they left. The installation process was smooth and clean. Thanks again!
