Review: Midwood Emergency Plumbing and Heating worked on the hot water handle of our shower. 3 hours and $670.00 later the valve stem was installed,( basically once you have the part it is screwed in place)we were left with a screwdriver inserted through a screw opening to use as a lever to turn the hot water on and off. and no handle. Within 24 hrs the new part had spouted several spraying leaks and the water pressure got weaker. Finally,when I tried to turn it off, it would not shut off. My husband had to run to our basement to shut off the water for the entire house. Midwood said they would try to get the plumber back but no promises and we may be charged more money! Finally our usual plumber returned from a trip, got our messages and ran over to inspect the job. Upon looking at it for a few seconds he said 'This guy didn't know what he was doing!' Our plumber removed the new valve stem to find it had been broken during installation. He saved us by fixing the new valve stem that had been broken in minutes. It has worked fine since then. He charged us $45.00. Midwood Emergency Plumbing cashed the check the very next day. They left our shower unrepaired, did not insure the quality of their work ...even for 24hrs! Then they wanted to charge us more to come back a day later to fix their own shoddy work. We are taking them to small claims court for monetary reparations. We also filed with the Attorney General, [redacted]. Next I will report them to the NYC Consumer Advocate. $670.00 for a minor repair. I will not rest until our money is returned.Desired Settlement: I will pay $45.00 for the part, and $85.00 for the visit. $135.00 total. I am seeking a refund of $535.00 paid to [redacted] or my husband [redacted] of [redacted].
