Groupons are ultimately coupons, and you cannot use part of a coupon unless the coupon has cash value and you can redeem the unused portion of a coupon for cash or credit towards a future purchase The vast majority of the population that uses Groupon has never had the expectation that they could redeem half of a boat ride or half of a massage, and without expressly stating that a Groupon could be split up between multiple visits, it is understood that it cannot be I have attached a sample voucher that Groupon supplied me with today that shows that there was no expressed intent on the part of our business to allow partial use of the Groupon In fact to the contrary it explicitly states that it's "Not redeemable for cash (unless required by law.)" -- a "no cash value" statement. We have tried to make it right with this customer by indicating our intent to provide for some sort of voucher for a future visit, but it's clear this guest is looking to have us handle this publicly instead, which runs counter to our company policies in handling customer complaints Sincerely, [redacted] Owner

Hi ***,
Yes, it was our intent originally to have a split voucher, but the voucher you bought did not contain that language I can only however respond to the accusation that somehow we were not correctly honoring the voucher If you feel that somehow we were able to change the voucher or amend the offer, I feel it best at this time to refer you to Groupon
I love being in the restaurant business as I have been for fifteen years, and I love our customers You can only logically understand that ripping people off is not a good way to be successful in this business, so we just don't If I were out to make a quick buck, $at a time would not be the way to do it We do everything we can to make things right with them when they feel that they have been wronged I am still happy to do that for you.
Best,
***

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
First, you are lying about your intent, or you lied to me earlier in this Facebook message:>> [redacted],
this is definitely not fraud, just a mistake by our cashier. We had
instructed all staff to provide a gift card for the unused amount. This
is something we did because we had been told that Groupon would issue
split vouchers which they ended up not doing, which left us scrambling
to find a solution. However it appears the cashier you dealt with was
either unaware of that or decided not to comply. We are addressing this
with our staff immediately.
Second, your "expressed intent" is completely contained in the Groupon
offer (previously attached), which I accepted and paid the consideration
for. When I tried to redeem the Groupon, you tried to add an additional
clause to the agreement, in violation of the Uniform Commercial Code.
Obviously a trip is not divisible in any meaningful way, but an offer of
"$15 for $28 Worth of Tacos, Wraps, and More at Mighty Bird" is
divisible, and your did not specify that it had to be used all in one
visit.  Groupons offering a single visit redemption clearly say so in
the Fine Print (such as "Must be redeemed in a single visit."), and the offer title contains the phrase "Up to", as in
"Up to $15 for $28 Worth of Tacos, Wraps, and More at Mighty Bird."
Thus you  contradict yourself on intent.
And your statement about expressed intent is false.
And your the assertion that you can add restrictions to a contract after it is executed, is incorrect.
Since you have demonstrated that you lie in pursuit of profit, and
further, that you have no intention of honoring the Groupon as written
in the future, it is reasonable to request that you make a public
statement that there was some confusion with the Groupon initially, and
clarify that if a customer does not use the full value of the Groupon on
one visit, he will get a gift card (not redeemable for cash) for the
remainder.
Oh, and you did not attach a sample voucher, but a copy of your Groupon.
Regards,
