Review: "Bottom line, this is a classic case of a big company "strong-arming" an individual, and this type of business practice ensures MRC can knowingly use cheaper, under-qualified labor, disregard government imposed safety codes and get away with getting jobs done more profitably. MRC needs to uphold their promises and reimburse those they've unjustly impoverished."FULL STORY:Mike Rovner Construction, Inc (MRC) was contracted to perform a renovation on the property I live at.During one of the days of renovation, a MRC plumber exercised admitted gross negligence and failed to follow a basic safety protocol which caused a fire in my unit. Fortunately with the help of the fire department, I was able to stop the fire from burning down the entire complex, and my computer (among other things) was damaged. The foreman thanked me for my diligence and promised to cover the cost of the computer damage. After weeks of back-and-forth debating with the project manager (David), he, MRC legal and I settled on a dollar value and language for a release I'd sign and provide to MRC. We locked down a day that David and I would meet (so I could provide the notarized release and David could provide a check in the agreed upon amount) and a few hours later I was called by someone else at MRC (a man named Skyler) who told me he would provide a substantially lower amount (less than the repair cost of the computer), and that his offer supersedes all other offers. He continued to explain that what David promised is irrelevant because small claims court would not admit any evidence I had about our agreement, which was documented via email.Bottom line, this is a classic case of a big company strong-arming an individual, and this type of business practice violates the spirit of the law and ensures MRC can knowingly use cheaper, under-qualified labor, disregard government imposed safety codes and get away with getting jobs done more profitably. MRC needs to uphold promises & reimburse those they've unjustly impoverished.Desired Settlement: I'd like to settle with the agreement David, MRC legal and I agreed upon.
