Mike Stower Coal and Oil Reviews (1)

Thank you very much for your prompt response to my complaint, and the consideration you have given it. Regarding the $payment plus $service charge, I only have my credit card statement. Stower Oil did not send me a receipt showing the breakdown. However, I should make
clear that the $fee associated with that purchase is not an issue for me. Stower informed me at the time that I first contacted them that they would deliver $worth of oil and that I would also incur a $credit card service fee since I did not have an account with them. I agreed to those terms--all of which was done by phone. My complaint centers around a subsequent conversation with a representative of Stower Oil. I contacted them on Feb. 20, and inquired if I could establish an account so that I could mail a check instead of paying a 3% service fee. I had a very pleasant, friendly phone conversation with a woman from Stower Oil (I have no idea what her name was.) Our agreement was verbal, but it was unambiguous. They would deliver the oil and call me after the delivery to tell me the amount I owed. I promised to immediately send them a check. I also agreed to give them my credit card number as a back-up. Fair enough. I understand that. I also agreed that I would be happy to become a monthly auto-fill customer. Our conversation couldn't have been more pleasant. I wasn't concerned when I didn't hear from them for a few days--a weekend followed, and there were other customers scheduled ahead of me. But by the middle of the next week I needed to ensure that the delivery would be made, and I called Stower Oil again (the morning of Feb26. ) It was at that time that I learned that delivery had already been made (I again spoke with a woman--I don't know if it was the same one with whom I had spoken the previous week.) I asked what the amount was, and said I would get the check in the mail right away. I was told that it had already been put on my credit card. I explained that the agreement was that I was supposed to have been called in order to avoid the 3% service charge She said she was going to have someone call me. Her response was appropriate, and a business relationship with the company likely would have been established, until--I received a call from a man, I'm not sure who it was. The Caller ID was Joann S***, ###-###-####. I have no idea what his position in the company is--for all I know he may be the owner, or he might be an employee. Regardless, his behavior was off-the-chart rude. He wouldn't address my concern that we had an agreement that I was supposed to have been called at the time of delivery, and he abruptly ended the callRegarding the particulars, my credit card was billed $on Feb20. I haven't received a receipt from Stower Oil, so I can't prove that they added the 3% (they told me that they did.)
How do I think that this should be resolved? I've given it some thought since I first contacted you yesterday. It seems to me that if the gentleman who was rude to me is the owner, he should send me the 3% service fee I paid (approx$23.) If the gentleman is an employee, the company can keep the $23--but they should recognize that they have an employee whose behavior has cost the company a customer who would otherwise have been purchasing approx$in oil on an annual basis in the future.
Frankly, in the grand scheme of things, this matter is hardly worth the effort I have put into it. On the other hand, if it prevents others from sharing the same negative experience I had with this company, then my effort is productiveIf you need me to mail you a copy of my credit card statements, I will be glad to do so--although I won't be receiving a statement from my credit card company for the Febpurchase until approximately three more weeks. I think that copies of the receipts would be more beneficial--but Stower Oil hasn't mailed either to me. Perhaps the Revdex.com can persuade Stower Oil to mail them to meThanks again for your attention to this matter. (I'm impressed--this is the first time I have ever contacted the Revdex.com.)
