On 7-23-Mr ***' van was repaired at our shop, getting a replacement of leaking rear axle seals, and what is called a rear brake "overhaul." Overhaul includes the brake shoes and the wheel cylindersThis repair was done at 1,miles on the odometerThe type of van that the customer owns is
a Ford 4xVan that is lifted and used outdoors regularlyIt was apparent at the time, and each time following, that it is also a project for Mr *** that because of its age and usage style, would be likely to experience routine repairsThese repairs don't all happen at our shop, many seem to be performed by the customer himself and by another shop
Later, on 9-24-2014, at 3,miles (1,miles later) on the odometer, the van was brought back experiencing issues with the brakesWe found at that time something in the rear brakes to be incorrect - what it was is at this point out of memory, being two full years agoBut our records indicate that we warrantied the entirety of the brake repair previously done
Later then, on 6-16-2015, at 8,miles (4,miles later) we worked on an exhaust/emissions issue for Mr ***, and at the same time adjusted the parking brake for him, at no costThe park brake was tested and working correctly before sending the van with him
On 11-3-2015, at 12,the van was brought in and at that time we discovered one of the two axle seals replaced had began leaking againWe replaced the entirety of the brake job, again, along with axle seals, at no costFulfilling a one-use, 2-year warranty for the second time, even though it was already warrantiedThis was done because we strive every day, on every repair to be as fair and as reasonable as we can.
Around this same time Mr *** brought the van in with issues to do with the RV battery on the vanThe battery wiring had been previously altered and redone by either the customer himself or another shopWe installed a battery for him at no chargePutting the new one directly in replacement of the old one - same hookups (which appeared correct without spending ample amounts of time being analyzed by an electrical shop or electrical mechanic)Months later we were informed by the customer that his van had electrical issues and that our battery replacement was the reasoning for these issues - even though we just replaced one battery for anotherAgain, we tried our best to keep Mr *** satisfied and offered to, and ultimately did, reimburse him for the electrical repairs done at another shop to fix the issueWe did not originally charge anything for any of that workYet paid him to appease and keep satisfied.
We are now being told over the phone that he is being told be another shop that there is an issue with his rear brakesWe did not see this, we did not confirm thisOther shops routinely blame other shops as a sales technique, it's something we hear about all of the timeWhether this is the case here or not, we don't know and won't know because the van was not brought to us to address the issue to begin withWe've had no problem warrantying and/or not charging for things for Mr *** in the past because we work very hard to make sure our customers are satisfied with out workHowever, he is now beyond his original 2-year warranty for the PAID for work, meaning we can no longer warranty that repair regardlessHe became aggressive regarding these points over the phone and we were informed that he'd have to find another shop to work with from here on out (which he already has anyway), and we agreed that it would probably be for the best

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: The attached pictures will show the faulty clip installation that caused the spring to come off and grind into the brake pad and drumThis is the reason the emergency brake was never fixed after return trips to have the brake adjusted. If someone would have looked in the brake assembly this problem could have been avoided and the emergency brake fixed the first time I took it back to the shopNow I am paying more money to have the rear brakes fixed again I know the shops response is trying to show me as a complainer and my vehicle as a project van that I drive aggressivelyThis is a typical tactic for trying to case blame someone else but that is simply not the caseI never had any problems with the work done on my subaru and was happy with the results. Sincerely,*** ***
