Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/08/12) */
[redacted] came in for an estimate only on 5/20/15. The estimate that was written was a preliminary pre-disassembly estimate. [redacted] was informed that the estimate was subject to change depending on disassembly of the vehicle as well as...

if they were going to proceed through their insurance or not. On 6/1/15 we received a call from a [redacted] at Total Environmental & Power to schedule an appointment for 6/3/15. We received the vehicle from [redacted] on 6/3 (Wednesday) at 2:45pm. If no further damage was found the repairs on the vehicle were expected to take 9 full business days which would have set the original out date to 6/16. Once the vehicle was checked in we proceeded to disassemble the vehicle. Unfortunately, we are legally not allowed to write for anything that our eyes can't see and that we cannot prove is damaged until the vehicle is disassembled. This is standard procedure and [redacted] was explained this. Once the vehicle was fully disassembled and parts were verified we reached out to Travelers Insurance regarding a supplement (additional damage) that needed to be addressed. Travelers gave us authorization to proceed with the supplemental damage on Wednesday 6/10. We then reached out to [redacted] and received authorization from her to continue with the repairs for the revised amount. [redacted] was given a revised out date of 6/26 because of the supplemental items that were found. The amount of labor hours on the job went from 36.5 hours to 65.7 ($4,500 to $7,800 in total $ amount for the repairs). Though we don't have any cycle time agreements with Travelers Insurance, we try to maintain the same down time with them as with our direct insurance carriers. That time depending on the agreement is between 3 and 4 hours per business day per vehicle. Again, [redacted], [redacted] and Total Environmental & Power were notified this and advised of this once the vehicle was disassembled. The vehicle was here for a total of 18 business days. The amount of hours per business day on the job from start to finish was 3.65 hours per day. Given the circumstance of having to wait on the ok after disassembly from the insurance company we still were within the industry standard time of what it takes to fix a vehicle correctly. I did not hear any questioning of the repairs taking too long until 6/23 in the afternoon when [redacted] left me a voicemail. I called him back after him leaving me one voicemail on 6/24. He did not answer, so I left a voicemail to answer any of his questions. He called me back on 6/25 and initially wanted reimbursement on his deductible. He said that this was an insurance job and he knows insurance jobs are "profitable". Everything that we billed for the vehicle was itemized and performed. It was approved by the insurance company and proof was sent to them for the corrections that were needed. I advised [redacted] that giving money back on his deductible was illegal. He went on to tell me that if I didn't give him money back that he may resort to posting poor reviews on social media. I advised him that I would discuss with my general manager his situation but at that point it was illegal for me to reimburse him his deductible. I spoke with my general manager and emailed [redacted] our response on 6/26. I again explained the timeline to him that the amount of time that we had the vehicle for was within industry standard and the proper timeframe for the repairs that were done. We had communicated with him and [redacted] through the repair process and not until the end was there a complaint of any time taken because we would not give him a reimbursement. I received a response email from [redacted] stating "Thank you for your communications. Sorry we are so far apart on the ideals of servicing customer needs. Thanks for fixing our vehicle this time and in the past. Good luck in your future endeavors." I never refused for [redacted] to speak with my general manager, nor did he ever ask to speak directly with him. We agreed that I would talk with my general manager and get back to him. That is what was done. I thanked him for using us and understood if he chose to go somewhere else for future business.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 16, 2015/09/11) */
It's interesting [redacted]'s continues to suggest I want them to do "something illegal" when all I was looking for was compensation for the delays in their repair. I have had several repairs completed at other shops and they have all been able to meet their original time frames, including insurance adjustments, and two repairs completed at an alternate shop since this issue with [redacted]'s. Compensation could have been in any form such as rental car reimbursement or extra services (like repairing a door ding on a door they were blending.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/11) */
We replaced a rear bumper as authorized by the insurance company and Mr. [redacted]. When we removed the old bumper prior damage to the rear body panel and reinforcement were found and notated. There were also prior poor repairs...

discovered (holes in the side of the metal panel that bolted through the bumper to keep it in place) These holes were fabricated by a prior facility to make the bumper look better without fixing the vehicle properly. When the bumper was removed Travelers insurance as well as Mr. [redacted] were notified by us of the prior damage and that the bumper would not fit as intended by Subaru. Travelers declined any additional work because of the unrelated prior issues. We did as directed and replaced the bumper. Mr. [redacted] was concerned of the fit of the rear bumper when he picked up the vehicle. We again advised him that the fit cannot be corrected without replacing the reinforcement and repairing the inner structure. We again advised him that whatever shop performed the repairs in the past made compromises on his vehicle to make it appear ok. He then told us that he was aware that the vehicle has a salvaged title and had been repaired. He asked us to call Travelers and attempt to get them to pay to correct the old issues. Travelers came back out to look at the vehicle after repairs. They declined coverage for any additional repairs. I have included photos of the prior improper repairs- rust on the rear body panel opposite side of the damage. Prior poor repairs on the lift gate opening panel and hole in the lower 1/4 panel that a screw was used to make the rear bumper appear to be in place.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/08/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am dissatisfied with the work that was done on the vehicle. The work that I requested to be performed on the car, was to bring the car back to the same operating shape as it was prior to the accident. Prior to the accident, the bumper was properly secured in the appropriate position and did not have any issues in terms of spacing, framing around the car, as well as spacing next to the rear tires (this is a safety issue and driving hazard). Currently the bumper hangs lower than it should, there is visible and significant spacing between the bumper, wheels, trunk and rear quarter panels - none of these issues existed prior to the accident. Regardless, the repairs that were done to the bumper are unacceptable and given that it is an insurance claim for an accident that was of no fault of mine the work should bring the vehicle back to the same physical and working order as it was prior to the accident. Currently it is not.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/09/02) */
The work that was done to the vehicle was the work that was billed for. Any additional work has not been authorized by Travelers insurance. Again, prior damage and repairs from a previous incident prevent the bumper from being properly secured in its correct position. The customer was advised of this during the repair process. We are unable to correct the gap because of the previous improper work. All that was billed for and authorized was a rear bumper plastic cover and paint time for that with prior repairs and damage documented. The bumper can not be placed into a different position properly without the reinforcement being replaced and rear body panel being repaired properly. We reached out to Travelers and they have denied any further repairs.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/09/04) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It was my understanding that all repairs quoted for this incident were assembled and submitted by the body repair company ([redacted] Auto Body) to the insurance provider. Regardless of whether a previous repair had occurred on my vehicle I would expect that their standards of work would bring to attention the damages caused by this incident. To tell me that because a prior repair was completed on my bumper I would not be given a proper repair is ludicrous. A prior repair should not negate my opportunity to have a safe and functional repair. I understand that there we additional brackets/adjustments made to make my car functional during the previous repair, but the car was that, functional. With no sagging bumper or issues with wheel clearances. At minimum, the bumper should be restored back to this condition. Keep in mind that it is not my fault that the insurance provider's vehicle ran into my parked vehicle. If reinforcement is needed to place the bumper in its proper position then so be it. The way I see it there should be no issue approving this. All I am asking is that my vehicle be restored to the previous functional and visible condition.

I wish there was a rating below zero, because that is how low Big [redacted] is ![redacted] runs this sweat shop with his daughter, and her baby-daddy [redacted] and [redacted] are habitual liars, and [redacted] has an explosive temper and has threatened to harm people at other body or mechanic shops who warn you to stay away from his shop.

They gave me and estimate to repair the damage to my door, window, and suspension, and to replace two broken alloy rims.

They had the car for almost THIRTY DAYS ! During the 30 days, [redacted] and [redacted] would lie to me about even starting to work on the car.

I knew this because I drove by and saw that it was still sitting in their over-crowded parking lot of vehicles that were waiting to be repaired or just covered in dirt.

When I finally got the car back, one of the rear wheel bearing hubs had obviously been damaged in the accident, and NOT repaired with the suspension parts that he said would be repaired.

This is dangerous, and the wheel can sheer off of the car at any time.

I immediately called him about it, but he said that it ran fine when he drove it, and something must have happened AFTER I left. Since I noticed it as soon as I drove out of his parking lot, I knew that he was lying, and he probably didn't even drive the car. He said to bring it back for him to look at it, but since they had the car for so long, and were obvious liars and frauds, I took it to other two mechanic shops instead, one of which is a highly regarded suspension specialist. Both shops showed me the suspension parts that were damaged, and were obviously NOT replaced, and needed to be replaced.

I also discovered that the rear air struts were not holding air, and his sweat-hogs pulled out the fuse for the air-compressor so I wouldn't hear it running as it tried to fill the damaged struts.

One of the brand new tires that I only bought because [redacted] was SUPPOSED to repair the car, started to get carved up by the wheel well because the rim he replaced, stuck the tire out too far, and the struts were not holding air. As someone else wrote, [redacted] has been shut down at least two times PRIOR to 2007 by BAR, the Bureau of Automotive Repair, of the State of California. I found this out AFTER I made the mistake of paying the FRAUD for repairs that he did not complete ! DO NOT make the mistake of going to this piece of [redacted], as he will rip you off, then claim that you damaged the car after you left !

File a complaint with BAR, as this business needs to be shut down permanently, before he passes the operation on to his daughter and baby daddy to continue to rip people off !

P.S. I have talked to many people about [redacted], and even people who have known him since they were less than 20 years old, have had poor work done by his shop and just went somewhere else to have it the poor work re-done correctly.

Review: I took my vehicle to this body shop for a repair of the trunk due to a rear end auto accident. This was the body shop recommended by the other drivers carrier. The work is very poor, I had to take my vehicle back over 4 times for various repairs not completed or completed poorly. The trunk was never completely fixed. When I examined my vehicle when I pick it up, I accepted that they were only making it worse. Its raining and now I find out my trunk is leaking on two sides. My things are drenched. My trunk did not leak before or after the accident nor prior to taking the this shop. Please note that prior to the accident, my vehicle had NO REAR END DAMAGE. The leak was only noticed now was because the vehicle is garage kept. My vehicle should have been totaled out because the floor was bent, but the Insurance Company wanted to save money, they said it had to be repaired. Now, its damaged and leaking on two sides of the trunk. This time will make it 5-6 times taking it back and its difficult and inconvenient to keep readjusting my schedule to accommodate these people and its still not fixed!Desired Settlement: I want it fixed correctly. I want reimbursement for my damaged belonging and to clean it so there is no mold as a result. My trunk should not leaking on two sides. I want it fixed or to be able to take it to another body shop and the money they received be turned over to another body shop for proper repair.
