Mike's Auto Complete Reviews (2)

My wife and I were on a work trip from Oregon, headed down to California. We limped into Weed, with burned out bearings and a wheel that was minutes away from coming off on I-5.

Mike was caring and went out of his way to help us. He was honest and explained why certain parts had to be replaced, even explaining and showing me how they had been damaged.

He certainly could have taken advantage of the situation and overcharged us. Instead he worked into the evening and was very reasonable for cost.

As for the negative review on this site, I will tell you Mike has an entire wall full of thank you cards from people like me that have had great experiences with him. You can decide who you want to believe.

Review: Greetings,I had my 1998 honda civic ex towed to Mike's auto about 4 months ago. I had a verbal agreement with [redacted] to install a used engine in my car. I told [redacted] that I had located a used engine but [redacted] told me he would prefer to order the engine himself then he could warrantee theit for 6 months should something go wrong. A few days later he called to tell me that he had located an engine and can get it in 3 days but I had to give him my credit card number for the amount of $1200 which would cover the engine and transporting it to [redacted]'s shop ($100 transportation fee included in the price). I agreed since he told me that the engine was checked prior to shipment and that it was a "good" engine. The following week I checked with [redacted] about when he was going to install the engine but he told me that there was no engine and something about my car having wrong engine in it which made no sense to me because the car has the original engine and [redacted] had the engine identification numbers that everyone else has used. Three months had gone by and still no sight of any engine, finally I told [redacted] that if he didn't have an engine within one week I would have my car towed out of his shop. [redacted] got unhenged at the mention of my taking the car out of his shop and began showing threatening and abussive behavior toward me. The one additional week went by and still no engine. By the followong week he had an engine on a cart still wrapped in plastic and he told me that was my engine. [redacted] then proceeded to asking me to pay in advance for about $1400 worth of parts that he had listed plus he was charging me about $1100 for his labor. I grungingly accepted however when I asked [redacted] to show me the engine paperwork since I had paid for everything, he went crazy yelling at me with threatening gestures that I had no right to see the information about the engine and that it was his business secret to not show it to me. I then told him not to order any parts and do nothing to the car which made him more ferious and s

Product_Or_Service: Nothing

At this point I just want my money back after over 4 months, I have an idea that [redacted] had ordered some cheap inferior motor and had paid far less than the $1200 I paid for the motor and refused to show me what he had paid since it was my money not his. I am also asking [redacted] to pay for the cost of towing the car to his shop and out back to my house. I feel this is simply my right as a customer to know what I am paiyng for.Sincerely,[redacted]

Response:

Initial Business Response

This started a year ago when I kicked him out of the shop. The car came in with blown timing belt and water pump. He started jerking me around, so I told him to get it out of here. Took it to another shop that told him the same thing. Came back to me. I told him he needs to pay in advance for the work. He kept screwing around, and wouldn't sign estimate or contract. I finally called the department of equalization, and they said I don't have to give him my sellers information.I got 30 emails back and forth & 80 phone calls. Anytime we talked about he price or procedure he hung up on me. Then would text me w/ 'I want my money back'. I reminded him of his authorization. This car has over 394,000 miles on it!

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Well it is my experience that Mr. [redacted] cannot live an honest life. I took my car to his shop, he took down all the information for the engine from the car as well as from the registration. He told me he had found a "good" engine but it costs $1200 which he stated I must pay in advance and I did. Four months went by but Mr. [redacted] didn't have any engine instead he kept coming up with excuses so I told him I was going to take my car elsewhere, he became unhinged, blocked my car. He finally found an engine, I agreed to have him install it however he refused to show me any paperwork or receipt as to the cost and condition of this engine, he also asked for an additional $1875 for parts and labor estimate in advance. When I asked for receipts he got very angry, I decided to have my car towed away and asked for my money back. He said I would get a check less $100 for transportation back to the place he got it from. It has been now over 6 months and no checks. I have a feeling that [redacted] needed the cash and intended to sell me an inferior engine for the cost of a good engine. At this point I cannot trust anything [redacted] says.

Sincerely,
