Mike's Independent Grocer

We purchased a prepaid phone card for $100 at Mike's Independent Grocery Store. The prepaid pin number doesn't not work on our phone. The pin appears to be bad. Within a couple hours we went back to ask for our money back or some solution. We were told no by the incharge manager and by the franchisee of the store, named [redacted]. I spoke with [redacted] on the phone. He was very clear that "he was not willing to take a $100 hit, for our issue". He was also quick to point out that the reciept that we have says, "no refunds".The challange is, we did not know that the phone card would not have worked, and we did not know that there was "no refund". In hindsight, we would have expected the sales person at customer service to explain to us before the transaction was complte that there was no refund. That this was a final sale. if we knew this, we would likely have sopent less on the card.We asked fo a card, the sales person gave it to us. We handed over the cash, and the cashier took the cash. She rang in the sale and then handed us the reciept. There was no mention of a non refundsable final sale on this product. The first notice a customer may recieve is on the reciept, after the cash is taken, the sales transaction is complete, and the reciept is then passed to the customer. The customer need to know that there is no refund before the transaction is complete. [redacted] further explained to us that the transaction happens instantaniously, and one the money is in his till, the next second the phone company has it. There is "no way I will take a $100 hit". [redacted]Business Response There are a few discrepencies with what is stated in the complaint and with what I believe occurred. Firstly the customer did not approach and ask for a card, they presented the card at the till for activation, on the card it states NON-REFUNDABLE. The transaction was processed and the pin # was activated, this now means that the customer is in possesion of $100.00 of minutes for use in a [redacted] phone and as stated on the card these minutes are valid for 365 days from the date of activation. The customer states the the pin appears to be bad. I believe the issue is with the device and not the pin. It is my belief that if the pin # on the receipt is entered into a functioning [redacted] device that the $100.00 in minutes will be available for use.
