Mike's Masonry

Review: I paid Mike $2,200 to fix a leaking chimney on 7/6/15. There still is leaking around the chimney after his repair work. Mike came to see the leak after a rain storm. He said to call him when it leaked again and he would come to fix it. It rained on 9/10/15. I called him on 9/11/15 (about 5:30 a.m.) and left a message for him to call me. He did not return my call. I called him again on 9/11/15 (about 10:00 a.m.) and reached him. He now said he would not fix the leak (as he had promised), saying in effect, that it was too much trouble for him and that I should hire someone else.

When he first gave an estimate for the job, he verbally guaranteed his work. Based on that guarantee, I decided to hire him. The initial estimate was $1,700. He then asked for $500 more after he started the work. I agreed to the additional amount, believing that he would solve the leaking chimney problem, Now, out $2,200, I have nothing to show for the expense, except a rebuilt leaking chimney.Desired Settlement: I would like him to fix the leaking chimney as promised.
