Mike's Maytag Home Appliance Center Reviews (2)

My Kenmore dishwasher stopped working. I called Mike's Maytag to come and repair it. I was told the initial cost was $75 to come and diagnose the problem and $40 to fix whatever was wrong. The repairman told me the pump was gone and they had to order me the part and it would take two days. After the first week of no phone call I called them. I was told by the woman that she had no idea where the part was, but she would call when it came in. Whoever she was, she never gave me a name, but she was not helpful at all. After a second week of waiting I called again and this time was told the same thing and she would have to get back to me. She called back that day telling me the part was there. I asked her what took so long, was the part backordered? She said, "I don't know, oh, yeah it was backordered." I asked when the part came in and was told Friday. This was now Tuesday; so if I had not called that day I don't know how long I would be waiting to hear from them.
The repairman came out and fixed the dishwasher. I looked up the part number on Sears website and the cost was $49.75 for the part. Mike's Maytag had the part listed on the bill for $85.45 (same part #). I brought this to the attention of the repairman and he called the office. They told him the retail was $65.45. He adjusted the bill to $65.45. After looking at my total I saw that he charged $50 for labor when I had been told twice by two different people it would be $40 for labor. Unfortunately I saw this before the repairman left and did not dispute it. The repairman was very friendly and knowledgeable so my complaint is not with him at all, but how many people look up the part number so they have an idea what the bill should be? Probably not many; so was this done on purpose? I don't know, but what I do know is that common courtesy of a phone call to say the part was back ordered and honesty as far as billing is everything. I will not be calling them again or recommending them to anyone.
