Mike's Mechanic's Service Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I did have work done on my car back in 2013 and as you can see on the bill for 2013 a NEW STARTER was put in my vehicle..new is new and it was with a life time warranty on the starter as per Mike at Mikes Mechanic... I wanted New on the starter so I paid for NEW!!!! Little did I know that this guy put a rebuilt starter in my car and  charged me for what I wanted NEW STARTER...  I would not be filing a claim if this place did from the beginning ... I had the same problem 2 years later as I did in 2013 now 2015 the car is back and I am told there was a rebuilt starter put in from the 2013 date... I don't care what this guy is saying I wanted new from the start never got it and now it has cost me 2x the amount for what I wanted... This time he claims he put in a NEW starter but who knows I will not find out until I start having problems.. I assumed my car starter problems were done when I had and paid for a NEW starter back in 2013. I should have never been charged for this job if it was done right from 2013...
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Review: I had my Vehicle repaired there back in 8/*/2013 at which was told that my vehicle needed a starter...I was told and paid for a NEW starter along with the 2 hours of labor total price of $481.21. Again I wanted and was told and have in writing that my car had a new starter put in..

Now on 11/**/2015 I have problems with the car I am stuck.. I call AAA and have my car towed to Mikes Mechanics. Mike calls me back within an hour and tells me that it is the starter I in return mention that there was a NEW starter put in that car 2 years ago he says he can put another starter in the car and take off 1 hour of labor. I do research that night on rebuilt and new starters and called him and said that my car already had anew starter and I did pricing and want a new starter put in that car... He then could not find paper work where he got the first starter and then called me to tell me the starter was re manufactured and did not have any warranty on it. I argued and argued and got no where but needed my car back to get to work. He charged me again for a new starter, 1 hour of labor for a total of 325.87. He is a crook... I want to know what can be done to help get my money back... The first starter was new I was charged for new and the sob story is just totally a lie... Can someone at the Revdex.com help me please.. I have my receipts from 2 years ago and my car had a new starter in it he mentioned he can show me the starter I do not believe this man and receipts say NEW

Response:

Prior to receiving this complaint, I proactively took action on two counts to resolve my customer’s concern when she picked up her vehicle on November **, 2015. What her complaint to the Revdex.com does not state is that when she had her vehicle recently towed to my shop, and it was determined that her initial starter had failed, she was told that unfortunately the repair done to her vehicle two years ago was out of warranty as it is clearly indicated on her invoice, “12 month/12,000 mile warranty.” Customer satisfaction has always been my priority for the past 30+ years; I take pride in that when customers leave my shop, they are happy and satisfied with the work I have done. Even though the repair done two years ago was clearly out of warranty, I hoped to resolve the matter fairly and quickly, hoping to maintain good relations with my customer [redacted]. To do so I offered two concessions. First, instead of charging her the two hours it normally takes to replace the starter in her vehicle, I charged her for only one. Second, I went out of my standard warranty policy, and gave her a lifetime warranty on the second starter put in her car so that she will never have to worry again about having another problem with a starter as long as she owns this vehicle.
