Mike's Pool Service Reviews (4)

Review: I used [redacted] for pool services since 2005. May 2013 we agreed to have our pool painted. Special pool paint was chosen, and 3 layers were to be applied under specific conditions. We were both at work during most of this process. When I had the pool opened by Mike's Pool Service (as Usual) in May 2014 the paint was peeling so badly

it looked horrible. I called them several times. They blocked by numbers so I was only able to leave messages , which

they ignored. They did NOTHING! My husband was in the hospital for most of 2014, and I was unable to follow up. We are elderly and feel that we are being taken advantage of. Paid him by check made out to cash for $1500.00 for pool painting. The flakes of paint in the pool is unhealthyDesired Settlement: Use the money to re-paint pool .

Review: Since moving in to my current address I have used mike's pool service for the last five years to close my pool. I didn't know much about what a pool service company was supposed to do in order to properly close my in ground pool. The first year that Mike's pool service came, they ripped my new loop-lock cover on a ladder screw, and had to place a repair patch on the hole. The second year, they put the cover on a few hold down anchors that were under so much pressure from the cover straps, that they ripped out of the wood deck, They came back for $12.50 a piece and put new anchors in. The third year they failed to drain the slide water tubing. I had to call them back for that. The fouth year they put DUCT tape over all the PVC thread fittings and plumbing and I had to use gasoline to remove the duct tape adhesive from the PVC threads. Last year, they removed my pump motor without loosening the ground wire from the pump screw and broke an inch and a half of the ground wire and left it connected to my pump! And just last week, Oct.*,2014, they came back to close my pool, and they forgot to drain the water from my pool heater. I went outside and did it myself. I pay approximately $200.00 to this pool service company and this service is really sub par. I called Mike's pool service three days ago, and they have not yet returned my call. If this water would have been left in my pool heater throughout the winter, it is a good chance that it would have frozen and cracked the plumbing inside my pool heater. This I left on the message when I called them, and still no call back. I learned very slowly what has to be done when closing a pool by constantly checking their work every time they left. Every time I told them what I had found that they did improperly, it was like a deer caught in headlights. They would then apologize for their mistakes, and foolishly I accepted there apology and used them again, but this error is the last straw. I should not have to oversee their work every year. They are very unprofessional and I think they are too much in a hurry to do the job right. I cannot in good conscience hire them again.Desired Settlement: Doing their job correctly the first time. Knowing what they are supposed to be doing, and returning their clients phone calls when there is a problem. Not, charging and keeping the clients money for work that is on the receipt that we pay for in good faith, and that work is not being performed. It's fraudulent.

Review: I hired Mike's Pool service in May 2013 to open my pool and install a new polaris pump 6mons prior [redacted] told me I needed new gaskets His workers opened my pool, dropped a brick in that tore my liner ,used all my chemicals and left the pool non-usable. I called in another company that I paid to clear the pool up after many calls to [redacted] which were unanswered. [redacted] in the office said he will not return ur call u owe $751.58 which after the opening the gaskets blew, the hose ripped and I had to call a friend to help correct the problem. Again no return call to work out the issues. I feel I was taken advantage of and now a year later he is putting a lien on my home. I find this to be ruthless , unprofessional and not good business practices. My neighbor also had similar issues with [redacted] but has cameras around his property therefore he was never contacted when he refused to pay. I paid close to $200. to get my pool clear and cannot afford to repair the torn liner. It is unfair that a business can put a lien on your home and refuse to have any contact with you.Desired Settlement: to settle in a fair manor that both parties agree to

Billing Adjustment

Review: There are many complaints here - Improper billing, improper service/repair and customer service uncooperative. This company opened my pool on 5/**/13. When customer attempted to backwash the filter the plug was so tight it couldn't be opened, and when it was finally opened it leaked. A call was put into the company and it was made clear to [redacted], the sec'y that the installation at pool opening was faulty, and that this was a problem with their work. A scve call was made on 6/* and an invoice left stating the cost would be $92.33 for a plug and gasket replacement. The other plug customer owned that had been in the garage was missing and it looked like the plug that was replaced was that plug, not a new one. A gasket is a thin rubber circle used like a washer on the plug and costs less than a $1.00. (as per internet). Customer called the sec'y and asked to speak to the owner, [redacted] never called back after repeated requests even though the customer explained the situation to [redacted] and customer said the charges were unfair and unresonable. Two months later a 2nd invoive for same date was receievd stating the bill would go to collection as it was 60 days over due. Customer left messaGES THAT THE BILL WAS UNFAIR AND UNREASONABLE GIVEN THE circumstances and that a letter of complaint would be written against the company. [redacted] did call back and left a voice mail and customer tried to call right back then and 4 other times but a call was not ever returned again. Customer would be willing to pay something for the travel -home visit time but not for the plug (which was the customers) and the gasket costs pennies. And I really thought the company chose to ignore the costs as they did not install the plug appropriately in the filter in the first place when they opened the pool (on 5/**) and connected the filter to the pool. [redacted]'s assistant did the filter work and it doesn't seem he knew what he was doing. [redacted] was there also. I'm not sure who made the 6/* visit to do the repair, but the invoice does indicate it was a [redacted]. If he says he used a new plug on 6/* than what happened to the other one in the garage? I don't mind that they used my other plug, but they shouldn't be billing me for a new plug, and the service guy at the first visit should have noticed the plug he used was no good/stripped and not have used it in the first place.Desired Settlement: I would like this bill to be erased and no charges allowed, especially since they didn't allow to let me speak to the owner to resolve this in the first place as I requested, and since it was related to a faulty pool opening/service by the company. I would have been willing to pay something for the 2nd service call but so much on going hassle and apparent misrepresentation on the bill makes it seem undeserved.
