Response:
[redacted] and I had a verbal agreement to remove her existing door and storm doors and replace old door jams with new door jam. To re-install old doors and storm doors for $700. During the process of the work, she brought out some after market security device to be installed and had me pick up and install 3 new dead bolts and 2 door knobs to install and was not part of the agreement. And was not done without her approval. She was also told not to put the after market device on the side door the day we left. She was happy and said that we came highly recommended. Total cost to her was $1073.37, in which she didn't have on 12/20/13, but paid the balance on 1/7/14. About a week later she called and was not happy about some of the work. I agreed to meet with her and another person (not related) in which I looked over the work and found that she had installed the after market device on the side door after being told not to. In which who ever installed the device to the door jam pulled it so the revel and spread changed so much that the storm door wouldn't latch. I agreed to fix it and return and fix a few other things she had a problem with. We set a date that she and the other person could be there, about a week later. A few days later she called again. I told her that I would be there on the date agreed upon to fix any problems. She still was not happy and told me that she did not want me to come back. So, after a while of listening to her complaining, I was not going to argue with after telling her my willingness to come and fix the problems and seeing that no matter what I said or my willingness she was not going to be happy, I just hung up. I am still willing to fix the problems and make her happy as long as no one has altered any more of my work

There will be no refund, she already has all the paperwork she needs.  She got what she paid for and if there are any other complaints, she should contact DPOR.  I stand by my work and my first response.

I do not wish for Mr. Airtrip to further damage any of the "work" that he has completed. He h¡s been
over four times to correct his work, each time becoming worse. No one else has done any work on my
doors because they will not touch them due to liability issues. I asked for a written contract from day
one. I have written documentation for all of the other estimates from each company I inquired to fix
my doors and asked the same of Mr. Airtrip. When he began the work he was reportedly finishing up
my written contract which he never supplied me with. I never agreed to have him work on my doors
on a mere verbal agreement. He was chosen because his estimate was the cheapest and I have a limited
income.
I would like to have the receipts and paperwork so that I can file for current and any future replacement
or damages done to my locks and doors which I purchased though him. I do not wish to use Mr.
Airtrip's services at all in the future and this would make it easier on all parties involved. I do not
accept Mr. Airtrip's offer to come to fix a door that he has cut and a threshold that is too high without
replacing the door itself and putting a proper non trip hazard threshold in it's place. Also the outer step
to enter the home was broken and needs a proper fix. Furthermore, there is no way to fix the factory
defective side door without a receipt and item number, and since I do not wish for Mr. Airtrip to do any
more work on my property, having that would be much appreciated, There is also no way to correct the
poor work done with his drimmel tool in the storm door recess for the latch.
I would be happy to have Mr. Airtrip pay for a professional national company to come in and fix his
work but I will not be accepting his services- Thank you for your consideration.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I recently enlisted a local licensed contractor to perform modification and improvements to my two residential doors at my residence of which I own. After having contacted several area contractors including: [redacted]@ [redacted] (license # [redacted]) with a quote 0f $3200.00 on November 18th 2013 at 1:00PM, and [redacted]@ [redacted] Company (license #[redacted]) with a quote of $2278.00 on November 21st 2013 at 1:30PM. I had gone to [redacted] and spoken with a sales tech [redacted] salesperson ID [redacted] on 9-13-2013 paid 35.00 for a review of measurements of what was needed in the replacements of my doors. I then had Mr. Alrtrip come out on the 27th of Nov 2013 he gave me a price of $700.00. I then enlisted Mr. Airtrip to install my doors, door jambs, and locks.  I had purchased my own locks to use, 3 deadbolts, from Mike's Roofing & Siding (license #[redacted]), [redacted]., Roanoke, Va. [redacted], telephone ###-###-####, whose advertised services include: Windows, Roofing, Siding, Remodeling, Door Installation and Jambs, and General Repair.
Owner Mr. Airtrip (aka Charles Mike Airtrip), having seen and studied the written estimates and appraisals for the work as drawn up by the above stated contractors, [redacted] and [redacted]. gave me a verbal estimate of $700.00 on November 27th at 3:00PM for the work as outlined to be performed with a promise to give me a written estimate as I needed this prior to work being performed. Stating that he could get the door jambs for $30.00 or $40.00 and the doors for $250.00-300.00 and he wouldn't charge me much to do the work with which they were attempting to rip me off.  As I was telling him my story of being a victim of robberies and how much I had already invested into trying to protect my property, he stated he could help me for a fee of 700.00 because I explained to him of my limited income of 756.00 a month of SSD. He stated this in front of my home healthcare worker [redacted] who works with [redacted] Center. Mr. Airtrip came back December the 2nd at 4:00PM and stated he would bring the estimate. He stated the estimate was still being prepared by his wife.
[redacted] is the one who helped me with the hiring of Mr. Airtrip, Mr. Airrrip was referred by Skyline doors. Then [redacted] called Mr. Airtrip and they set up an appointment as to when we could meet and discuss the doors. [redacted] heard Mr. Airtrip make the verbal agreement of $700.00. Mr. Airtrip returned on December 20th with three other workers and began work on the doors. They removed my previous storm doors and doorjambs. I inquired as to the written appraisal as promised. I was informed by one of his employees that Mr. Airtrip was in his vehicle preparing said appraisal. As the work progressed I contacted Mr. Airtrip via telephone inquiring as to why the crew would be preforming this work with an emphasis on the re-installation of my old wooden doors. I was informed at this time by Mr. Airtrip that my desire for the metal doors that I had requested would end up costing much more, bringing the total bill over $1000.00. Under the circumstances I felt I had no choice but to accept this overcharge.
Then when it was all said and done it was $1073.37. I paid the 1st check on 12-2013 for $700.00, ck #[redacted], and the 2nd check wrote on Jan 3rd for $373.37, check # [redacted], but not given to Mr. Airtrip until the 7th.  I put not satisfied with work done on the check. The check was written on the 3rd because he came to work again on the doors for the 4th time, but he came back on the 5th time on the 7th so I put the 7th at the bottom of the check where I made the statement of not being satisfied with the work done. This made five times he has worked on the doors each time it seems to have gotten worse. One night I was left with a two inch gap under the front door and the night got to 28 degrees outside. I had to put a quilt up at my door where he had taken the threshold out and had cut off the bottom of my front door and left it this way over night.
The work performed and stated as completed was substandard with factory detective door hung as stated even by Mr. Airtrip after the fact that he proceeded to hang it. When asked what he meant Mr. Airtrip stated it was cosmetic when in fact it allows an air flow around the door to come in as seen in the pictures of the gap around the door. When I called a reputable company and asked about the door the manger stated they would come out and cut out the hinges but that it would allow more of an air flow to come in around the door. They also stated that they need the receipt to know the item number and the make of the door, and that they would even be willing to come out and exchange it but that I would need the receipt. When asking Mr. Airtrip for the receipt for the door that carried my warranty he refused stating he needed it for his tax filing purposes. This is the back door that is in question as to the safety of my residence. The floor on the inside of my home was recently tiled then when Mr. Airtrip installed the door he took out the threshold that was not needed to be replaced. Then, in the process, it left a gap of 1 inch on one side and ¾” inch of a gap at the other end. Furthermore air comes in this gap not to mention the appearance that was left after the threshold was taken up. On the outside under the threshold there is a gap where there should have been some type of filler used because it also allows air to come into my residence up under my floor at the door. It was not like this when the other threshold was in. I did not ask him to replace the threshold. There was nothing wrong with it. All that was asked of him was to replace the door jamb and to replace the door, and put new locks.
The front door of my residence, as now having a threshold height of over two inches, is a clear tripping hazard. A piece of wood has been put up under the threshold to raise it where the door was cut off to much. The door should never have been cut off. The threshold should never have been removed. I have the threshold in my possession and there is nothing wrong with it. All I asked to replace was the door jamb and the door and new locks.
The reason of my complaint to the Revdex.com includes the following:
Mr. Airtrip was fully aware of my desires and needs in the work preformed and read over all of my previous estimates. Mr  Airtrip stated that he could accomplish the same work for $700.00 and that the other companies were trying to rip me off. After hanging the single metal door in the back, he revealed to me that is was a factory defect in the hinges causing it to set crooked in the frame. Materials removed from the threshold area left a significant gap, causing airflow in to my home which results in an increase in my electric bill and heating costs. When hanging the storm door they returned twice. In their attempts to rectify their mistake they pulled the door beyond its closing point and into the house. The latching area of the storm door is also mangled to a point where it will not latch closed. The recessed area  is jagged and not open enough nor sanded down. Mr. Airtrip's claim that the door jam caused the storm door not to close properly is false. All of the "after market devices" were the security bars that Mr. Airtrip ageed to place on the doors with our original agreement. I was forced to reuse my existing front wooden door as the job would have exceeded $1500.00 with the installation of the metal door I had originally requested. Since I have a limited income I had no other alternative but to accept this. The door is so ill fitting that it requires a forceful slamming to remain closed and latched. The screws in the middle of the door from the replaced locks fall right out without being unscrewed. During his process two inches were permanently removed from the front door by skill saw resulting in his company placing a two inch threshold at my front door. The threshold was installed with untreated wood which will rot and be more susceptible to elemental damage. This is a trip hazard considering the exterior stoop board is narrow by design. This board was cracked as well during the installation process with no attempts at a repair, allowing for water intrusion. The weather stripping is ripping due to poor installation and that is also creating air gaps and heat loss. Due to increased power and pressure in the usage of the door the installed Jocks and door knob are requiring daily tightening and the door knob plate is not flush with the door. There were return trips for the deadbolts not setting properly into their recessed areas which is still a problem. An area of carpet was lifted at my front door and not reattached as found as well as a section of stripping at the front door which held down the linoleum was taken from the sight and disposed of.

I am not satisfied with the work preformed and I do not feel secure in my home due to the sub par standard by which they operate. I have had Mr. Airtrip come out to fix the work 4 separate times, and with each trip the work has been worse. I would like to have Mr. Airtrip have someone else subcontract to do the work correctly. Short of that I would like to have this complaint verified so that any others looking to get work on their property could be made aware of his standards before they hire him. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely [redacted]

Paul the owner was very helpful in setting up the screening of my lani. At the same time my condo neighbor had his lani metal painted and screen installed and the serviceman Ray was very efficient . He figured out a way to accommodate my TV service cable which was in the way of the screening installation. Ray also cleaned up well and was a very good worker!!

Mr. Artrip states he and the consumer had a verbal agreement.  He fulfilled that agreement. He stand by his work.  He is willing to go back and repair anything he did, however he will not work on what anyone else did.

Review: I recently listed the above named local licensed contractor (#[redacted]) to perform modification and improvements to my two residential entrance doors at my residence, of which I own. After having contacted several area contractors for quotes including: [redacted] at [redacted] with a quote of $3200., [redacted] at [redacted] with a quote of $2278. I had spoken with [redacted] ID#[redacted] at [redacted] in this as well. I then enlisted Mikes Roofing & Siding whose advertised services include: Windows, Roofing, Siding, Remodeling, Doors, General Repair, and Replacement Windows and operating as a general contractor in these areas. Owner, Charles "Mike" Airtrip gave me a verbal estimate of $700. for the work to be performed with a promise to give me a written estimate as I needed this prior to work being performed. All quotes included stated work due to robberies at my residence resulting in damaged doors and door jabs. To List the Repairs Quoted (Both Doors): The installation of Provia Flush Panel Steel Door, 20 gauge Legacy Smooth Steel, w/ steel plate. One dead-bolt and door knob- these being Schlage for improved strength, and a Redi-Flex adjustable steel frame. (Price included re-installation of existing storm doors.) As the crew arrived and having removed both doors and jabs, I inquired about the estimate. I was informed of Mike as out in the vehicle preparing this. As work progressed, the crew became concerned about my existing doors being reinstalled. As Mike was contacted, Mike stated it would be over $1000. for one steel door instead of the original quote. I agreed to that, although not as outlined, with an agreement to reinstall the wooden door in front. The completed "work" has many flaws including: installation of a factory defective door on the back, serious gaps allowing air inside my home, Front door requiring forceful slamming to latch, 2" threshold height (without caulking) at front door (tripping hazard), Stoop board broken in 2 during work and unrepaired, more info...Desired Settlement: The work performed has been seen by friends and family and agreed in this work as being performed in a substandard manner. I feel as if I have been taken advantage of. My last contact with Mr. Airtrip resulted in he hanging up the telephone on me as I attempted to reach an agreement with him in regards to the work performed. I paid money from my savings and household for this work to be done and feel I am due a refund. It will cost me a considerable amount to have this substandard work corrected

This is in response to Mr. A¡rtr¡p's last recorded commun¡cation in this matter.

ln his profession and in discussing with him the in-depth work and due to the nature of the

changes to be made and installation of new doors and new locks, and discussing th¡s at length,

showing him three three written out pricing estimätes, I took him at his word and quoted price

that he would provide me with a written estimate prior to performing work, receipts for

lífetime waranteed components including Schlage locks only to be honored in waranty with

original receipt, and quality work and instead received substandard work- almost to the point of

being worse than before the work was performed. I believe that substandard materiats were

used in an effort to reduce hís outlay and increase his profits from the job. I've received no

receipts for item she claimed to have purchased for the job, ítems requiring the receipt to honor

the warranty in the event of exercising it in the future. The work he performed is already

showing instability and poor workmanship and a lack in durability. The defective back door used

(new per him), is unreturnable without the purchase rece¡pt. This has lead me to the Revdex.com and

involved in it as potentially offering help in this resolut¡on.

ln workÍng with the Revdex.com I've learned a valuable lesson, thet I needed to get a written contract

and was informed by the Revdex.com that in Mr. Airtrip's profession, he knew to give me one. This has

now gotten to a "he said, she sald" situation and I have learned from this. I would like for Mr.

A¡rtrip to know of he as having the business end of this in his experience and I was gullible

enough to not demand a wr¡tten contract. This allowed him to perform substandard work

without penalty. lf this is how he plans to continue doing business, I hope that something will be

posted with the Revdex.com that future customers demand, from the business, a written contract

describíng work to be performed and prior to work performed.

It needs to be noted thät Mr. Airtrip will change his business name and personal name when

dealing with you. ln the t¡me I've known him, he's been known as Mike, Charles, Chuck, Charlie.

He's under Heating & Air, Roofing & Siding, General Repairs, Asbestos and Lead Removal,

Remodeling & Repair. I was even referred to him by a local door company.

I would like to thank the Revdex.com for their assistance and in the learning

experience for me for all future work because it could have costed even more than it will to

repair the damages sustained.

Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter.

This ¡s my true and honest exper¡ence with Mr. Airtrîp.

Sincerely Lesson Learned,
