Very rude owner, seems like he doesn't care to talk to his customers, especially if there is a problem

Review: They missed diagnosis the transmission problem. When asked if could rebuilt it they said they will not work on the vechile that I needed to take it some place else.Desired Settlement: A full refund

Response:

In response to the compliant filed against me, I would like to note that the original complaint was leaking and overheating of the transmission, which we fixed. After initial diagnosis of the vehicle, we found excessive debris in the pan and recommended to the customer, that a rebuild of the transmission should be done. He refused stating that the vehicle worked fine, other than leaking and overheating. We did as he asked and fixed the problems that were exemplified. The customer wanted only to fix the immediate problem, for the cheapest repair. We have refused to work on his vehicle any further as the customer cannot be reasoned with and will not adhere to any advice that we have tried to pass along to him, nor can he understand that what we have done is unrelated to the issues at hand now. We did not cause the vehicle not to back up after it is hot, most likely it was the result of running the vehicle repeatedly with low fluid levels. Mike McAlister Owner

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The owner of mike's transmissions is not telling the truth. He told me that it was the torque converter going bad.So I had them replace the torque converter. After several weeks the transmission started to slip again.I took the truck back to mike's trasmissions and Mr.Mcalister the owner checked the codes on the trucks computer with a hand held scanner. At this time he told me that it was the cam shaft speed sensor.I went out and purchased a cam shaft speed sensor and had it installed. The transmission was still slipping.I took the truck back to mikes transmission and they replaced the torque converter the second time. The transmission was still slipping.Mr Mcalister said that the trasmission had internal issues going on besides the torque converter. He said that the transmission should be rebuild.I took the truck to Mikes transmissions because I expected a proffesional diagnosis. They are suppose the be the expert in this field. Not that they try one thing and if that don't work ,they try something else.I asked them if we could use the money that a had already paid for the torque converter and put it towards the rebuild of the transmission, and the refused.mr.Mcalister said to me that he is not going to rebuild the transmission on my truck, that I should take it else where. With a real nasty attitude. Review: Needed car repair while on weekend trip in VA. Was referred to this shop by a company on the list of my insurance provider, which was close by. The shop mentioned above informed me they would replace the transmission hose which was damaged. Applied a used cooler, a hose and transmission fluid, was charged $97.39. When completed, I was informed the repair was good and the car was ready to go. I then preceded to return to Ohio, when not even half-way home, the repaired section blew apart, rendering my car undriveable. After much money and time, I towed my car to my mechanic at home, where he preceded to make the exact same repair again, informing me the work prior had been substandard. The work done in VA came with a full warranty on parts and labor, so I contacted Mike's about the issue. [redacted], the manager, informed me he would 'stand by the work they did' and would not honor the warranty. He said it 'was only $100.00', as in it didn't mean much to him. I explained all I had to pay because of this issue and I would contact the other agencies about this issue of poor service and he laughed.Desired Settlement: I desire refund on the work completed in VA, as it was substandard and the exact same part had to be replaced again.

In response to the complaint filed, I feel that the work was done to a satisfactory level. We test drove the vehicle prior to releasing it back to the customer and found no faults at that time. When the vehicle broke the customer never called back here until after they were back home. I cannot warranty something that I cannot fix, as my invoice states, warranties are good here only. As for my work being "sub standard", I feel as though I have to disagree as I was not made aware of the problem until the customer was back home. We made every attempt to get the customer back on the road in a timely fashion as cheaply as possible while not sacrificing our quality, as the customer stated that they had very little funds to fix the vehicle, hence the used cooler component. We do our best to make sure every repair is done the best we can. Thanks Mike McAlister

I do not agree with the response from Mike's Transmission. First, I will state the issue of having to return home before contacting the transmission company that did the initial repair. I was stranded in West Virginia, not quite halfway to my home in Ohio. The transmission line blew as I was headed north, stalling the engine. I was fortunate to coast down hill, into an exit, then turning into a vacant lot. As I restarted the car, the engine would not go in gear period. I then started contacting various agencies for assistance, learning I was in the middle of nowhere and being a holiday was not able to get help. I then called home and a family member had to come and get me and take me home so I could go to work the next day. I had to leave my car in the lot in WVA, left an note, and had to wait til the following Saturday to retrieve my car with a truck and tow dolly. At the time of the breakdown, I did not know the extent of the damage. With the tow dolly and truck, the car was then towed to my mechanic's garage, where he was able to examine the issue the first of the next week. This is when I learned that the breakdown was caused by the very fixture the transmission company preformed while in VA. My transmission did not fail, only the repaired section completed by Mike's Transmission. My mechanic stated the repair was substandard, a rush job and not securing the fuel lines as the repair warranted. Mike's Transmission did not need to install a cooler, used or otherwise, if they would have repaired both lines as the issue needed. Also, I did not request a reduced cost repair, just the necessary repair with out anything unnecessary. The transmission company did test drive the vehicle after the repair, but this failure was caused by substandard repair without the necessary clamps to secure the hose, which worked loose as I traveled. Why Mike's Transmission expected me to call them after the breakdown is amazing. Why would I contact them at this point, being so far away and not knowing what exactly had caused the breakdown until a mechanic had discovered the issue. This is blatantly refusing to own up to a bad repair job, done in haste and not securing the repair by Mike's Transmission.
