Mike's Tree Service Reviews (2)

Review: Contracted with Mike's Tree Service on 8/18/13 to have 2-Ash trees and 2-Cottonwood trees dropped, using climbing gear to top the trees, and then have the stumps leveled to ground and area cleared of debris. On 8/21/13, Mike [redacted], DBA Mike's Tree Service, arrived with a crew of 4 men. Within 10 minutes of arrival, Mike started his chain saw and cut into the base of the first Cottonwood tree causing it to collapse onto the top of my shed, crushing part of the roof, shattering 2 of the roof joists and ripping open the roof. While his crew looked at the shed, Mike without using climbing gear as agreed to, cut through the base of the first Ash tree, dropping it more or less where it was intended.Mike explained that he would replace the roof of the shed, as he was fully insured, and left with 2 of his crew bound for the lumber store to purchase materials to replace the roof. He also informed me that he would pick-up the climbing gear before dropping the other 2 trees as originally quoted. After only 2 hours, Mike departed, leaving 2 crew, unsupervised, to complete the clearing of the 2 dropped trees. Within 1 hour of his departure, 1 of his crew cut himself with the chainsaw and the 2 of them raced off for the hospital.I was asked to secure their tools, which I did moving all of their working materials, lunch boxes and bags and 3 chainsaws valued new at over $1500.00 into my garage. On 8/22/13, no one showed up. On 8/23/13, the 2 workers left behind on 8/21/13 returned and began clearing the rest of the debris. As I had told Mike when he had first arrived on 8/21/13, I had an appointment on Friday. So while I was gone, my wife called me, to tell me that just after I left the 2 men quickly cleared the remaining debris, packed up and left.I have not received a call from Mike regarding his schedule for repairing the damage to my shed and for removing the remaining 2 trees, nor have I heard from his insurance agent. I have repeatedly called his number but his mail box is full.

I need Mike to either replace the roof of my shed with similar materials and similar workmanship so as to appear undamaged, or have his insurance agent contact me so I may file a claim. After calling 2 carpenters, the quotes I have received by phone estimate $305 for materials, $650 in labor and a total job cost of $1200.I have a number of pictures of the shed before and after as well as the trees, standing and dropped and his crew doing the work.

Review: Contracted Mike in January 2016 to cut down two large maple trees, remove rotted pieces and cut remaining logs into managable pieces for firewood. Cutting down the tree went smoothly, but downhill from there. A 3-day job stretched into 5 that was never finished. On day 2, no one showed up - no call or anything. Day 3, they worked hard most of the day, then just disappeared in the afternoon without notification or anything and all the wood scattered everywhere. Called the owner who said he would look into it and call me back, but didn't hear from him until I called him the next day (Sunday). Said he would come by Monday to finish the job - they worked all day, then it got dark and I couldn't see what they left behind. He said they would come later in the week to finish cutting a 5-ft wide slab and remaining pieces into smaller wood, plus remove huge logs on front yard. I never saw or heard from him again. I was ensured he would come back to finish the job and after 3-weeks and 25 phone calls, I have yet to hear from the owner, Mike. Additionally, all the sawdust that was left after cutting a massive tree is enormous. Instead of raking it up as promised, they covered all the sawdust with the extra dirt used to fill the stump area, after it was grinded down. Because it was dark when they did this, I was not able to see it until the next day that they cheated me on that part too.Desired Settlement: Because I do not trust Mike on my property, I am requesting a refund of $500 to hire another company to remove all remaining wood. My backyard is scattered with massive logs too large to move, in addition to sawdust left all over because they did not clean up as promised.
