Dear [redacted]:
With reference to your letter dated October 1, 2014 and as we explained to [redacted] though our letter dated August 30th, clients order got damaged in United States between port of entry and her home at New Orleans LA.
The case was...

reported immediately to insurance company with supporting pictures and documents and it is in process. (Attachment A)Since damaged furniture was not repairable, it was returned to transport company and trucker. (Attachment B)While our claim with insurance is in process and in order to help the client, we sent her a cashier's check for $4728.25 and will do the same as long as we extra funds available even before we receive the check from Insurance. As explained above, we have done whatever a business can do to close this case as soon as possible and will continue to do the same.
Sincerely yours
Jahangir P

Review: This is a follow-up to my complaint dated 8/15/2014 regarding the furniture company called the [redacted] Gallery/Milano Design Group.I paid the company a total of $18,975.53 partly by personal check and partly by bank wire to purchase French furniture that was advertised to be hand carved in Italy along with some matching fabric, all paid around 2/2014. The furniture was reported to have been damaged during its shipment from Italy to the US. The company gave me the option of getting a refund, so I chose the option of getting a refund. At first, the company stated that the refund would be given to me in 4-5 installments, but no time frame was given when I asked about the time frame. I asked that they give me an exact time frame and that if the refund could be given in one lump sum, that would be more fair in my opinion. The company stated that they would send me my refund on August 15th, 2014, but by that date, they said that they could not do so due to insufficient funds. Since I was worried that this was a scam, I reported this to the you on 8/15/2014.Since then, I received a letter from the merchant, Mr. Jahangir P[redacted], on September 4th, 2014 that he has sent me a cashier's check for $4,728.25, and that he "expects to refund me the balance in 2-3 weeks."I did receive the cashier's check on Saturday, Sept. 6th, 2014 for this amount, which I brought to the bank today. The bankers believe this is a genuine cashier's check, but can not be 100% certain until this check clears in 2-3 days. I was told by the bank that I would be notified in 2-3 days if the check is not genuine.I hope that I will receive my full refund of $18,975.53 in 2 weeks as promised. I will write to you if and when I receive my full refund to clear the name of this company.Thank you very much for your assistance[redacted]Desired Settlement: The full refund for $18,975.53 via cashier's check in 2-3 weeks from Sept 4th, 2014 as promised via e-mail.

Review: I paid nearly $19,000.00 for some supposedly custom made, hand carved furniture supposedly made in Italy. The person who supposedly represents this company in Italy ([redacted]) is Mr. Jahan (Jahangir P[redacted]), who supposedly has a showroom in Virginia. He had promised me that the furniture would be delivered from Italy to me in the USA within 8-10 weeks from order confirmation. I had paid him via bank wire on 2/14/2014, & by 7/2014, I started to call him asking where my furniture was. He kept stalling by saying that he would contact Italy, etc. After several weeks of continuing to call him & of more stalling by him, he finally said that the latest news was that the crate in which the furniture was packed was damaged, & that the people in customs in Florida or Georgia would have to unwrap the furniture from its plastic cover in front of an insurance agent. After more stalling, the news was that there were three pieces of furniture that had a broken leg due to the living room set being dropped. He said that I had 2 options: 1) He would send me new furniture that was unbroken at the end of 9/2014 or 2) I could get a refund over 4-5 installments. I asked for a full refund in one lump sum or at least a more concrete answer of how long it would take to receive all of my money back, i.e. weeks, months, or years ? He would not give me a concrete answer until I threatened to call my attorney. He then said that he would pay me all that I paid him in one lump sum on August 15th, but when I e-mailed him today, he said that he did not have the funds, but is working on it and would give me my refund later. I then asked him again how long it would take to get my refund, & he refuses to answer me. He no longer answers the phone, & answers my e-mails only infrequently now, unlike before I paid him. He has broken his promises many times, & I do not trust him now. I am worried that I will never get my refund, & I even fear for the safety of my family. Please help me. Thank you very muchDesired Settlement: I would like a full refund of what I paid him in one lump sum since I paid him in one lump sum or at least a promise that he would pay me in 1-2 weeks. He has been stalling long enough. He has said that his company has been supplying for decades furniture to many dignitaries in Washington, D.C. and that his clientele includes Queen [redacted] and millionaires such as [redacted]. If that is true, then he should have enough profit to refund me what I paid him 6 months ago.
