Mile Hybrid Automotive Reviews (%countItem)

Car was being repair took them over 2 months to complete got my car back. In less then 24 hours now I need a new engine because the shop did not put any oil in my vehicle. Now they claims my engine has leaks but through their diagnostics they didn’t see that it had oil leaks. Not until I brought it back did this happen.

Mr. did have his car towed in to our shop for repair. The symptom was that it was not starting. This is a hybrid electric car, and we determined that the hybrid battery was depleted due to an, at that time, unknown issue with the car. He is correct that it did take some time to get the car worked on, due to the fact that the hybrid battery material and specifications for those vehicles are not readily available.

We were able to get a hybrid battery in the car that would enable it to start. We checked the oil (standard procedure for any car that is towed in), started the car and determined through computer diagnostic scans that the Throttle body was failing. We ordered a new throttle body from Kia. It took 2-3 weeks to get the part. We replaced the throttle body and the car started and ran well. We test drove the car and notified Mr. that his car was ready to pick up. None of these repairs would necessitate lifting the car up or inspecting for oil leaks.

He picked it up and drove it away. We got a call from Mr. a day or two later and he told us that the motor was making noise. I encouraged him to bring the car back to us immediately.

When we were able to inspect the car we found evidence that there are multiple oil leaks on the engine, some had obviously been leaking for some time and one looked like it had developed recently.

We were not asked to inspect for oil leaks, nor did any of the repairs we performed involve any part of the engine that would be involved in oil seals, oil levels etc.

Mr. came to our shop and he and I looked at the engine and I pointed out the oil leaks and I explained to him what were seeing and that there is nothing that we did to the vehicle that involved anything to do with oil seals. I also pointed out that there is evidence that there are oil leaks in his motor that have obviously been there for some time. (as evidenced by the build up of oil residue and dirt). I also explained to him that the car was running just fine when it left our shop.

We do not accept responsibility for the oil leaks or the damage that resulted from his engine running low on oil.

With that said, I also explained to him that I feel bad about the situation and the unfortunate timing of the problem. that we would like to help him get his car repaired. The cost to replace his engine with a used engine is approximately $4,000. I told him that if he would allow us some time, we would attempt to obtain an engine by buying a salvage car at auction and we would do this work at the lowest cost to him that we could. I did not quote him a price, but he agreed that we would touch base after I had a chance to locate a car.

I made this offer to him, not because we feel were are responsible for the failure of his motor, but because we would like to help him and we understand the burden of the situation.

My offer is still good. I would like to help him get his car going again.

I hope we have the opportunity to help him.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
I reject this response because when I brought my car I never had oil leaks other then the normal wear and tear of the vehicle the owner did try and point out some small things goi g on under the car which would not cause for the oil to drain completely to nothing. This shop had my car for 2 months the owner said his technician check my car and it had oil in it when it was towed to his business. If my oil leak all the way out you would have notice that on his property when they were repairing it either way so I can’t see how this would be missed. But now when you are looking at it to determine if you have fault, now you want to say I have leaks and you never lifted the vehicle. I have pictures on my garage and driveway with no evidence of my car which I have owned for 4 years has ever had oil leaking. I also have my last service for an oil change which they listed issues with my car which do not state my car was leaking oil. He said after he offer to fix my car for 4000 dollars after I’ve already paid 1400 to get it fixed in the first place. I did my own research and most shops offer to do it for an average price of around 3000 dollars. Engine around $2300 and labor averaging around 800 dollars.. he wants nearly $2000 Dollars for just the labor. I’m not trying to get anything from them but my money back or them to make right and pay for my car to be fixed. At this point I wouldn’t trust them to do the repairs. I have been without my car for now almost 3 months and my worst nightmare has happened and now I’m careless and needing to buy another car or pay to get this one fixed with no money. I get him being a small business owner and a mistake like this would be bad for his business. But making it right would go a long way to make this better. I willing to work with him but not 4000 dollars. So at the end of the day I would be out $5400 dollars and he would be in a better position then I will be either way. He feels bad so out the goodness of his heart he offered to fix for 4000 . If that don’t sound fishy what is.
Sincerely

I assumed it was just the hybrid battery that was out as Indicated on the dash. They said they needed to look at the car and do a diagnostics to determine what was wrong with it.
