My ATM card was shredded at their machine for no reason. I did not take too long with my transaction, it just stole my card. I use this ATM almost daily because I am an ex military member and my bank is USAA and located in Texas. So I went into the bank to ask why my card was taken and could I have it back because it just happened (less than a minute ago). [redacted] and [redacted] were extremely rude. They told me they do not know why it was taken and their policy is to shred the card. I explained that I have a 6 yr old little boy to feed and take care of and I have no other way of reaching my money. They continued to be very rude, they looked in the back of the machine, saw my card, and told me that it is their policy to shred my card if I am not an account holder. They had my lifeline in their hands and refused to give it back to me. I had two forms of ID, I was in tears and they simply did not care. They are the rudest people I have ever dealt with, and since I have been using their ATM for over two years, they have literally hundreds of my dollars. They treated me horribly, and I cannot believe they would not help me knowing I am a single mom with a little boy to feed. What they did to me was criminal and I think everyone in this community should know how they treat people. I complained to a friend of mine about them and they also told me that bank is so rude they had to change their account to a different bank also. I am still in awe that they treated me with such disrespect and just didn't care that I gave them my money almost daily. On top of everything, they couldn't tell me why it was shredded! My bank is fed-exing me a new card and advised me to speak to them in case there is something faulty with their atm. They completely disregarded that advice and almost seemed pleased to not help me. I am truly disgusted with Millbury Savings Bank. They have no compassion or care for people in general, especially a hard working single mother. They should be shut down.Desired SettlementI would like everyone to know what a bad institution this bank is since it is right in the center of town and many people might find it "convienient" to bank there. A verbal apology and a refund of my atm fee and replacement card would be nice, but as careless as they are, I'm sure that's a long shot. I am truly disgusted with this bank. How would they feel if they had the money to feed their child and someone had the card in their hand and wouldnt give them THEIR PROPERTY? She requested her bank card, captured by MSB ATM be returned to her. [redacted], [redacted] - [redacted] informed the consumer the bank is required to destroy the captured card if captured for other than hardware malfunction or when a cardholder fails to remove a returned card. Neither was the case. Therefore, in accordance with NYCE Network Operating Rules (which govern policies/procedures of ATM); the card was destroyed and recorded in the bank's captured card log. At no time were bank personnel rude or disrespectful. Network rules were reiterated four times to the consumer for clarification. Consumer was instructed to contact issuing institution for additional information regarding captured card. Bank offered to refund $2.00 charge for transaction but consumer refused. I have available a copy of Nacha Rules as they apply to captured cards. Although empathetic to the consumer's frustration, the bank has a responsibility to be in compliance with rules & regulations as established by NYCE.Thank-you:[redacted], [redacted]
