This letter is in response to complaint [redacted]. The first time [redacted] brought her 2005 Right Hand [redacted] in was on May 18, 2016. The vehicle still had the out of state temporary license tag on it with with 241867 miles on the odometer. [redacted]'s appointment was for a check...

engine light, Brakes had to be pushed all the way down to stop and the vehicles steering feels loose and it wanders. She also had an oil and filter service, a multipoint inspection, asked us about a broken door strap and a missing defroster terminal. The powertrain control module had the following codes. P096 Fuel trim lean bank 1. P0421 warm up catalytic converter efficiency bank 1/1. We verified PCM operation and tested wiring to the oxygen sensors. Both tested good. We recommended converter and oxygen sensor replacement due to the mileage of the unit.We inspected the brake system. The vehicle appeared to have a newer master cylinder, pads and shoes were in good condition, but the rear wheel cylinders were leaking brake fluid. We inspected the front suspension and steering. We found the sway bar links worn and damaged. The front shocks are leaking. The tie rod end at the steering box had excessive plat and the trac bar has excessive play in it. All these items added up to the loose feeling in the steering and contributed to the vehicle wandering on the road. The oil and filter service along with the multipoint inspection were completed with an aircleaner and a turn signal bulb recommended to be replaced. We gave estimates on the door strap, [redacted] no longer services the electrical connector. The vehicle was test driven 3 miles.[redacted] paid for diagnosis an oil change and prepaid the special order trac bar.[redacted]'s second visit was on May 31, 2016. We replaced the special order trac bar, a tie rod end, and two sway bar links, A front end alignment was also performed. No brake work was performed even though [redacted] scheduled it to be done she asked for it not to be completed. The multi point inspection was completed with nothing recommended. [redacted] mentioned no other concerns. The vehicle was test driven 10 miles.[redacted]'s third visit was on June 3, 2016. She drove the vehicle in to the service lane and the motor was making loud knocking noises. We asked her to shut off her vehicle. We inspected the oil level in her presence. It was full but appeared to have metal flakes in it. We gave [redacted] an estimate for engine replacement. The vehicle was not test driven.Although we empathize with [redacted]'s situation we did not do anything to cause it. Unfortunately an engine with 242,009 miles can suffer a failure without notice. As the vehicle appears to have been just purchased out of state perhaps that individual or company should be contacted. As this is a Right Hand Drive vehicle it was probably used for mail delivery and will have an hour run time much greater than the mileage shows due to low speed use and idle times. If I can answer any other questions please contact me at the number below.Thank YouMatthew C[redacted]Miller Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Miller Jeepincorrectly performed diagnosis on my [redacted], they performed the oil change that ultimately led to metal in the oil and the engine lock up. They consistently over quoted and over charged me for repairs. It cost me $1,900.00 to replace the engine (at another shop) I needed it fixed for my postal job, I missed two days pay. Miller should reimburse me $2,000.00 for the damage they did to my car (see attached documentation). Two other mechanics looked at the vehicle before I took it to Miller, they said the engine was fine and it would most likely go to 300K miles. Miller wanted to force me into more costly repairs or to purchase a new vehicle to meet their sales goals. Miller neglected to mention that my car locked up the very next day I drove it after they performed repairs. When I drove the car back to them on 6/2/16 because it was making noises it was not making when I took it for repairs, they called me 6/3/16 to tell me they could not fit the car in to see what was wrong until 6/6/16, I then told them I will be having the car towed off their lot. In the very same conversation, they changed what they said and that they did have a chance to look at my car and it needed a new engine for $6,800.00. When they saw I was having the car towed and that I was a high sale getting away, they changed their story about looking at the car. They are an unethical business who takes advantage of their customers and I agree to resolution when they pay me the $2,000.00 for ruining my car.
