Review: My daughter went to this attorney to file Chapter 7. They required $1000 to get started. I gave the billing lady my credit card for $500. My daughter decided not to go through with it and the attorney told her I wouldn't get my money back! I just don't know why, as services were not rendered. I left messages with the billing lady TWICE, during the last two weeks. She will not call me back. I, in no way was rude. All I wanted to know was when she would credit my account. I did call my credit card company and told them the situation, as my statement had the $500 charge on it. At that point, he told me to pay the minimum, so not to get a late charge and hopefully the credit will be on the next statement. That is all I wanted to hear from this lady! I was helping my daughter and I don't know why they are taking it out on me!Desired Settlement: I want to help my daughter with her problems, but I just want to have my money credited to my account. We are not a rich family!

We have proposed several ways to resolve her complaint and concerns and she has stated she will be speaking with her daughter and then getting back to us. My first experience meeting Atty. Joe [redacted] was very positive. I've worked with lawyers my whole career and he impressed me. My husband and I met with him for our filing and everything went smooth. I had gathered all the documents they requested so that's always a positive. My husband was impressed with Atty. [redacted] as well. His explanation to my questions was thorough and put both of us as ease. I also met Gerda, the financial person, who took the time to come in the office and introduce herself. The receptionist was delightful - offering refreshments is a very nice touch. Review: I requested a refund of my 100.00 that I paid to company for a bankruptcy I was going to file but the money I was expecting did not come thru I told company that I did not want to file a bankruptcy because I did not have 1700 to file. Mr. M[redacted] advised me to even start working on my file he will need 1400 dollars down. They told me for two weeks straight that I was going to receive a refund and that it takes 7-10 business days. Then they told me they was going to have Wendy call me never got a call then after calling back demanding my money she states oh you not receiving a refund because I started working on your case. I advised what did you do because I informed the company I did not have money to file. She could not explained what she did. Then she said oh I called we energies and I said you did not have to call we energies because I paid the bill and besides we energies do not accept calls without the bankruptcy number and file date and discharge date also we energies had no record of them calling on my acct when I called to verify. Then she said I did 235 dollars worth of work I demanded to speak with Mr. Miller who originally said he will give my money back and send a check then he call back stating we started working on my case and I wasn't getting a refund so I said you know what you guys just going to take my money so I hung up he called right back saying don't keep getting loud and then going to say I was going to give you your money back but you are hollering so Im not giving you nothing and hung up.Desired Settlement: I will like a full refund of my 100.00 dollars because no work was performed because I told them I could not file from the very beginning.

I submitted a deposit to attorney's Miller & Miller in October of 2012, after meeting for an initial consultation. Miller & Miller was referred to me by a personal injury attorney I was working with. Since submitting my deposit of $1500 I made several attempts to contact the office of attorney [redacted], leaving voice messages and sending emails. None of which were returned. After speaking to other friends and family members that have filed or were in the process of filing chapter 7 bankruptcy, I learned not all bankruptcy attorneys are the same. Other attorneys address their clients concerns and return phone calls and emails. I've contacted the office of Miller & Miller about refunding my deposit. I was told the office manager had to review my file. Once the office manager reviewed my file she would forward it to attorney [redacted] to review it.

On Monday July 8th I was informed [redacted], the office manager was in the process of reviewing my file. I was told she would be calling me back in 15 to 20 minutes. 3 hours passed. I called a second time. I was told [redacted] had reviewed the file and forwarded it to attorney [redacted] for review and attorney [redacted] would be calling me back the following day.

On Tuesday July 9th I called attorney [redacted] office. Again I was told attorney [redacted] would review my file and call me back before he left the office on Thursday.

Thursday afternoon I called again, spoke to [redacted], who informed me attorney [redacted] was in the process of looking over my file and was guaranteed a return call by the end of their business day. I received a call back, not from attorney [redacted], but his employee, [redacted], stating there was an emergency which required attorney [redacted] to leave the office early. [redacted] assured me I would be hearing from attorney [redacted] the following day.

I patiently waited until 3:30pm Friday afternoon and called attorney [redacted] directly. Upon speaking to attorney [redacted], I was informed that he would not be issuing me a refund of my deposit. That he would have to speak to my personal injury attorney first as the deposit check was drafted by my personal injury attorney to save me the trouble of doing it myself. It is my understanding that anyone that reviewed by file could have done this earlier in the week instead of waiting until the last possible minute on a Friday afternoon.

The check sent to attorney [redacted] office, on my behalf, on October 4, 2012, was accompanied by a letter stating the check was sent at my request. Attorney [redacted] should have a copy of this letter, in the off chance he didn't I brought it as well as a release of responsibility between myself and my personal injury attorney. Releasing the personal injury attorney of any responsibility of outstanding medical debt not covered by a settlement received October 4, 2012. The deposit given to attorney [redacted] was taken from the settlement so I may file chapter 7 to wipe out outstanding medical debt. After my questions went unanswered for months I have decided to take my business elsewhere and it's very apparent that attorney [redacted] isn't happy about my decision.

I am contacting the Revdex.com of Wisconsin to help me obtain a refund so I may work with a different attorney to settle my chapter 7 needs.

I was extremely nervous and anxious before my 1st consultation with M&M, but was pleasantly surprised how relieved I felt after my initial meeting.
