MIllerMusmar was once operated by Donna Miller. My family and I were among its first customers. As our business endeavors grew, so did our relationship with Donna. Donna has since passed and the company is operated by another MillerMusmar partner (guess who?). As they say, the other partner is no Donna Miller. This company made an error on important tax filings, modeling for me a break even in 2012 when in fact the IRS came back and indicated I owed 80,000 because MM applied unusable tax credits, then inquired with the state and informed me that they had inadvertently allowed them to lapse because they we not used by MM within the 5-year time limit, only to find out that this was not the case and they had been liquidated the previous year based on advise by (you guessed it) MM! I unexpectedly have to come out of pocket $80k! Plus $8500 in additional interest! I asked MM to consider filing a claim on their errors and omissions insurance to recoup the $8,500 in interest I was obligated to pay because of the delay. This request would have cost them a mere $1,000. I had been paying upwards of $10k a year for decades. Their action was (drum roll)??? They dismissed me as a client 1-week before my 2014 years filing was due, and refused to take any calls, and did not bother to make a claim on their insurance. After 30 years of patronage this is what you get from MM when they make a mistake on your taxes. Keep this in mind when considering an accounting firm. You can do A LOT better, and pay A Lot less (50%).

Review: While filing a 2012 corporate tax extension, Miller Musmar failed to verify our company's EIN. This caused the extension to be kicked back and their employee contacted the IRS about a possible problem prior to notifying the principals of this company. The EIN on the extension form was incorrect. We were displeased that Miller Musmar contacted the IRS before confirming our corporate information with us. Had they done this, we could have immediately notified them that the number was entered incorrectly. At this point, we met with them in their office and provided them with a letter of termination.

Miller Musmar kept two principals of this company waiting in their conference room for over an hour while they attempted to locate the documents we provided them for tax preparation. They were unable to produce all of our documents at that time. We came back at the first part of the following week. By this time, they produced all of our documents except our 2013 [redacted] software (original copy). After speaking with Mr. Musmar, he confirmed that they had lost the software and their firm purchased new software and sent it to us.

The incompetence continued when we received our bill. Miller Musmar billed us for nearly four hours of time to prepare and file a single BPOL. Excessive. They further charged us 4.5 hours for simple data entry. This was secretarial, which is not normally billed at the accountant level. Additionally, their invoice shows hours billed but does not list the hourly rate for the activities of the employees. The accountant in charge of our account charged us for the hour he was on the phone with the IRS concerning the EIN. Mr. Musmar promised a credit on the bill for the time he cost our executives while his office tried to locate our documents. There was no credit given.

In summation, Miller Musmar spent excessive time filling unnecessary paperwork, lost our software, failed to confirm critical corporate information prior to contacting the IRS. This resulted in wasting the time and resources of our company, all while charging us $1800 for the privilege. We have sent a request for a fulle refund to Mr. Musmar via email and voice mail have not received any response. We would like to resolve this issue and move on. We hope the Revdex.com will help us appropriately address this.Desired Settlement: We are asking to have our bill voided and our $1800 returned.
