Miller Oil Company offers a summer rate if you pre pay for propane. *** Customers, BEWARE!! This oil company will come by and fill your tank when you are not at home and then charge your account for more propane than what they put in your tank. They will tell you that they are doing their customers a ‘favor’ by randomly stopping by and filling your tank. If you do not keep an eye on what percentage your propane tank is at, they will lie via a receipt and over the phone; when confronted about the discrepancy. ***, the owner, fills the tanks himself so that no one (including staff) will know what he is doing. In our specific issue, when trying to resolve the issue, at one point *** stated that we had a 350 gallon tank (but only put in 260 gallons when we had prepaid for 1000 gallons for the season??) and charged us 260 gallons. At another point in the conversation, he stated that our tank was on 0% and we should be thankful he care by to check and fill the propane tank. Again- then why did he only put in 260 gallons. For the record- our tank that we rent from MILLER OIL COMPANY is a 250 gallon tank and our furnace was functioning perfectly this morning: it was 9 degrees out, therefore we had more than 0% of propane in our tank. Our family strives to do business locally, but possibly no more with MILLER OIL COMPANY.
Our company delivers propane for home heating. Our computer showed that the customer was almost out and our delivery driver confirmed that upon arrival to the house. The tank holds 330 gallons and we fill to 80%. 260.1 gallons were delivered. Customer stated that the tank was at 40%, not 0% the last time he checked.
Our trucks are metered via a computer and printer and time out after 3 minutes of pumping gallons. So there is no way to falsify a delivery ticket. The customer also knows that percentage gauges stick all the time, especially in very cold weather, as his often did. The weather that week was in the single digits.
I have included the delivery ticket as proof of delivery. This customer has done business with us for the past 3 years and we have never had a complaint from him. We had multiple phone conversations with him to try and explain that the tank was at 0%, but he wouldn't even listen. We even offered to come pump out the propane and credit him. He was not willing to let us do anything. The propane was prepaid so the customer didn't even owe anything after the delivery.
We are a family owned and run business with high integrity standards and treat our customers as friends/family as opposed to the big chain stores.

I am rejecting this response because:my tank, which is maintained by Miller Oil Company is a 250 gallon tank. In addition, it was never conveyed that all the propane could be pumped back out of the tank to show proof of capacity. The fact that this “family owned” business is very disappointing that they are being untruthful. I will finish out the pre payment of the propane and be forced to look for an honest local propane company next season.
