When a customer purchases a gift card from Miller Paint, a number is entered to validate the card. If a number has been previously entered the card cannot be validated and will not load. When a customer chooses to use a gift card, they bring the card with them and the card number is
entered into our system to determine the balance remaining and to debit the card for the transaction When this customer lodged a complaint, we reviewed the activity on the card and found that it had been used several times at the Alberta Store and that several different employees had processed these transactions We are confident that these transactions took place with “a” customer presenting the card. It is the only explanation that is rational given the number of variables. If not, you would need to assume that several employees colluded together or that out of all the gift card transactions over years of selling them, this one accepted a duplicate number and allowed two cards with the same number to exist. While this is an unfortunate situation, Miller Paint cannot be responsible for the safe keeping of a gift card once it is sold and becomes the property of the customer. With all this said, the Operations Manager believes that the lady he talked to was sincere. For this reason, he has agreed to reimburse her with another gift card for $that we would strongly suggest that she keep secure. She will need to contact Bill Blankenship at 503-595-6720.
