Review: I had a new roof and various sheathing put on December 18, 2015. Over my front porch I had been having an issue with leaking when it rained and snowed. They told me all the wood above my porch was rotted so they replaced all the wood and put on new shingles and I got new gutters as well to stop the leak. It still leaks in the same manner as before. I called [redacted] many times to complain and finally in the early summer 2016 he came by and said it needed some caulk around some nails and he took care of it but if it kept leaking to call him. it still leaks, I have called him at least 5 more times, my son-in-law has called him and he swears he will be by the next day but he never comes. it has rained and rained and rained this whole summer and he has had day after day to come by and see where it's leaking and he has not come and it is still leaking. I have called the office and talked to the secretary and she tells me to call [redacted].Desired Settlement: I want my porch leak to be completely repaired and NO MORE dripping through my ceiling onto my porch.

Response:

The complaint has nothing to do w/the installation of the roof. The problem is with the guttering and our repairman has the work order to take care of the problem. Water is running behind the gutter and 2 mitres are leaking.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me IF it fixes the leak.. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. I will point out that I bought gutters from this same company FIRST because of the leak on my porch and when the leak was still there and I called and the gutter person came back and could not figure out why it was still leaking, then a roof came next and I was told this would fix my problem and when it didn't I was STILL told that it was due to nails ON THE ROOF that needed caulking by [redacted] so acting now like it isn't your fault and it's the gutters just makes you look bad especially since you did the gutters too!!!!! Either way, Miller Roofing did not fix my leak over my porch the first time, or second or third so as soon as they come back and do these repairs and it rains and the leak is gone, I will be satisfied.

Regards,

Review: I required service, that was suppose to be in the limit of $7100.00 to repair my roof. I was told if there was extra for wood there would probally about $26.00 more. Miller did not communicate with me at all about extra expenses. I received a call stating that my bill was $11,000,00. He lowered the price to 10,800.00, this is a roof that is 1879 S/Fwith out gutters or drain pipes. There was a hole in the roof that we replace with a metal plate from Home depot, and also there was a piece of wood that was standing out on the roof and he stated that if we paid $80. 00 he would fix the wood. I paid All but $ 2388.00 which he made arrangement to pay every month until December this year and if Im late a charge of 2% per month will be assessed on past due balance. Also there is a five year period to fix anything that goes wrong my balance is now $1300.00. Also I was charged $150.00 to knock down the chimneyDesired Settlement: I think with that price Gutters should have been included, that should have fixed the hole and the wood so the apperance would have looked better. I would have like for them to have talked to me before about the extra price the wood that was replace you can see the it is about 9inches wide and 4 feet long there is not more than 15 pieces

I have attached a copy of the original contract signed by Ms. [redacted]. On the contract the fee for tearing down the chimney and for any extra wood installed is stated on the contract. This work was performed 10 months ago and this is the first time we've heard anything about the bill being disputed. Seems that if there was a problem w/the charges she would've contacted us before now. Miller Roofing will deduct $300 from the bill to settle. That gives her a total of $529 discounted from the invoice.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First of all I can not believe that knocking down a chimney for $150.00 and a couple pieces of wood working with $7100.00 add up to $11,000.00. We talked the same day about fixing the wood on the roof and he said let him know when we want it fixed and that it would be $80.00. I don't want his money I just wanted good service. Could you please refer to the Miller Company that they can keep the $300.00 I don't want their money I just wanted good service. I will send you a copy of the contract that was given to me before the service started. if he had only talked to me during the process of repairing the roof I could have made better choices. My husband will continue to go his office to make the remaining payments as usual my loss, and thank you for your suppose. [redacted]

Review: After the roof was found to be leaking, I had [redacted] look at the gutters and they said it was okay and that it was coming from the roof, the valley and caulking of the chimney. I then called Miller Roofing and they came out for estimate and took photos of affected area. I then told him I would leave a stack of matching shingles out for their use when they came back for repair. Repair estimate was made on 9-11-13. The estimate of $265 was made to remove old roofing on back of valley, driveway side. Water was seen running off overhang, down the screen of porch and onto porch floor. The personnel that I have talked with regarding this problem have been [redacted] (repair man) & [redacted] They supposedly came out to fix this in Oct. while we were gone. It looked as though no shingles had been used. The invoice was sent (#[redacted]) and paid 11/10/13, ck.#[redacted] in the amount of $265.00. As of today, Jan.10, 2014 , it is raining and water continues to come down the affected area. We have tried many times to get the problem solved, so as the wood would not become damaged. Many times they have said it would be taken care of and that [redacted] had a work order to correct the problem. But, needless to say, It is NOT DONE!!Desired Settlement: I want [redacted] or some other competent person to repair my roof and solve this problem asap! Due to the negligence of the company and the aggravation to us, I expect this to be at no future cost to us.

Regards,

The company has been very slow to respond to requests for assistance relating to leaks. On 2 occassions it took several weeks and several phone calls before I got any response.

Review: On July 29th Richard Miller scheduled his roofers to show up and replace my roof. That day came and went. I called the company and was told he was on vacation and forgot to schedule a crew. When he got back from vacation, he told me a different story (he was running behind), and scheduled my roof for Aug 2. They did show up that day, but did not paint the unfinished plywood they nailed to my chimney after taking down the old materials. When I asked Mr. Miller if he was going to complete the job so it would look the same as he found it, he said "yes" and took a paint chip. That was on Aug 5. I have called several times since then and still the job is not complete. I paid in full on August 5.Desired Settlement: I want my chimney painted according to that paint chip with appropriate weather-proof paint. Thank you.
