In response to this claim Mr. [redacted]’s system was installed in August 2011. Mr. [redacted] did not purchase an extended labor warranty for his heat pump system. He did have a 10 yr compressor and 10 yr parts warranty from the factory once we registered the equipment. Since 2011 we have...
only been to his home 3 times – 2 of which were routine maintenance. The last call having the date of August of 2012. When Mr. [redacted] contacted us on 8/31/16, he stated that he had a burning smell coming from the system. On 8/31/16 our technician found that the heater was burnt and shorted causing damage to the control board. The technician quoted Mr. [redacted] $230.00 for heater replacement and $212.00 for board. Mr. [redacted] would not accept the quoted price to perform the work, he stated he knew how these parts needed to be replaced and he thought the charge was excessive. The amount quoted to Mr. [redacted]s was a labor only, non-maintenance customer. Our technician explained to him that he billed out according to our flat rate pricing and he would check with the office for any allowances that could be made. After many complaints from this customer Mr. Mills discounted this labor to $280.00 to install the parts. We have installed these parts for Mr. [redacted] and the invoice has been paid in full. Our technician logged a total of 4.25 hours on this call and this in not including the travel time to and from his home.The original service call: 1.00 hourPick up warranty parts: 1.50 hoursinstall warranty parts: 1.00 hourreturn warranty parts: .75 hoursFor over 32 years of conducting business in the state of Virginia we felt what we quoted to the homeowner is equal to industry standards and also went a step above to grant a discount to appease the customer.
