On Tuesday, December 03, 2013 @ approximately 12:00 PM our 18 years old daughter [redacted] was involved in her first automobile accident involving three cars traveling westbound on interstate 80 roughly 20 miles west of [redacted]. At the time of the accident it was a frigid 20 degrees, snowing over one foot while at scene with 20-30 MPH winds and.Due to severe front end damage caused by the accident to her 2004 BMW 325I she called [redacted] towing service to rescue her from the scene. A short time later [redacted] driving a flat bed tow truck from Milne Towing Services had come and loaded her car on his tow truck, after he placed her car on the truck he approached her saying he needed $250.00 now or he would impound her car. Being a college student and not having $250.00 or a credit card, she called me and had me speak to [redacted]. I attempted to explain her situation and that if he was demanding $250.00 she wasnt able to pay him then. I explained to [redacted] that we have coverage with both [redacted] insurance policy and also [redacted] road service to tow the vehicle at no charge, why would I give him an open ticket to tow the vehicle starting at $250.00. I then asked for [redacted] to leave the vehicle at the scene that we will wait for [redacted] that he did not have my consent to tow the car. In a very arrogant tone, [redacted] said that he didnt need my permission since he was directed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP)and that he was going to take the car to his shop and impound it and that I would have to deal with his owner. With that, [redacted] handed the phone back to [redacted] . In the next few minutes, while sorting out what to do, [redacted] went to his truck and drove off with [redacted]s car leaving her stranded in the elements without any assistance. With that said the person that she had rear ended in the accident (a stranger)offered to give her ride back to Reno.Due to space limitation I was only able to list partial problems experienced, to complicate thing more, Milne Towing Service Office staff was ineffective.Desired SettlementI believe that based on the experiences listed above and further issues with office staff, a full refund of towing services is in order.Business Response This memo is a response to [redacted]'s complaint about an incident that occurred during a snowstorm near Truckee California on Interstate 80.Let me begin this response by apologizing for any and all real and perceived unprofessionalism of our driver during the course of the accident response to your daughter's accident. As a company, we pride ourselves on the professionalism of our drivers and staff. We do our best to meet and exceed customer expectations, even in the most trying of circumstances. Unfortunately, in this case, due to a number of factors, many of which were out of our control, we failed to meet the customer as well as well as our own standards for professionalism. To more specifically respond to [redacted]'s letter, let me provide a bit more context regarding the road and weather conditions. [redacted] was involved in an accident on WB Interstate 80. [redacted]'s accident, as well as several others that occurred at approximately the same time and in the same general area, were blocking the highway. As a result, California Highway Patrol closed the Interstate until the blocking accidents could be cleared. Our truck was responding to a different accident on Interstate 80 a mile a so down the road from [redacted]'s accident. The California Highway Patrol, flagged down our driver, and instructed him to remove **. [redacted]'s vehicle from the roadway. Our driver informed the officer that we were responding to another accident down the road. The CHP officer contacted his dispatch and our driver was instructed to respond to both accidents due to the severe conditions. No Driver was with the disabled BMW at the time CHP instructed us to tow it. After removing the vehicle from the roadway and while securing the load on our tow truck, a Ford pick-up truck pulled into the area where our driver was securing the load. The CHP officer indicated that the girl in the pickup truck was the driver of the BMW, [redacted]. [redacted] got into the cab of our truck and began discussing the situation with our driver. She asked if we were [redacted], and our driver stated that we were not. [redacted] stated that "they" had called [redacted] and were waiting for them to come. Our driver informed [redacted] that that CHP had instructed us to remove her car from the highway. She was also informed that CHP is in charge of the roadway, and they determine the disposition of all disabled vehicles during an accident event. As a footnote, [redacted] typically has a very slow response time during storms and CHP will not wait for [redacted] to respond because they want to reopen the highway. [redacted] stated that she wanted to go to Reno. She was informed that we could take her car to Reno and that she would be responsible to pay the charges upon delivery. She said she didn't have the money to pay for the tow. Our driver told her that if she had full coverage that her insurance would likely pay all towing fees and she wouldn't have to pay anything today if we took the car to our yard. The driver told [redacted] that if we took the vehicle to a location other than our yard, that payment would need to be made when it was dropped off. She then said that she had to make a phone call. She got out of the tow truck and got back into the Ford truck. A few moments later she returned to the truck and said her dad wanted to talk to our driver and handed him the phone. Our driver got on the telephone and the gentleman who we believe to be [redacted] on the other end. He was immediately confrontational. Before any discussion of the circumstances took place, he yelled that they had not authorized us to pick up the vehicle and that we were essentially stealing it. Our driver informed [redacted] that CHP had instructed us to pick up the vehicle because it was one of the vehicles causing the road to be closed. [redacted] was informed that CHP will not wait for [redacted] during storm conditions and that we were following the direction of a CHP officer. [redacted] demanded that our driver immediately take the vehicle off our truck. He was informed that the vehicle could be dropped in a safe location, but that the tow charges would need to be paid immediately if we did so. [redacted] started yelling and challenged "what are you going to do if we don't pay"? He was informed by the driver that we would be forced to impound the vehicle and he would have to take up the matter with management [redacted] stated: "well I'm not paying and it's totaled anyway what do you think about that?". Our driver stated, "that's fine sir" and then handed the phone back to [redacted]. During this time CHP instructed our driver to remove the BMW completely from the roadway, NOW. [redacted] was informed that CHP wanted her vehicle removed completely from the roadway and that we needed to send our truck to the next accident down the road.[redacted] got out of the tow truck and got back into the pick-up truck without saying anything. Our driver believed that [redacted] and the people in the pickup truck knew each other because she had gotten into and out of the pick-up truck several times. Unfortunately, this was an incorrect assumption on the part of our driver. He should have confirmed how [redacted] was going to get to Reno. The driver did not at anytime believe that she did not have a ride. Our driver moved his truck into a position to speak with the CHP officer and notified him that we did not think [redacted] was going to pay for the tow. The officer instructed our driver to proceed to the next accident site a short way down the road. At the same time, [redacted], who was in the pick-up truck, pulled up to the Tow truck and CHP Officer and asked if we could tow the car to [redacted] in Reno if they gave us a check. Our driver informed [redacted] that we indeed could do this. The CHP officer then said, "I'll talk to them" indicating the girl in the pickup truck. And that our driver should proceed to help clear the highway about a mile down the road. Our driver proceeded down the highway at a snail's pace due to the traffic and conditions. Our driver made the erroneous assumption that [redacted] and her friends in the pick-up would follow soon after and stop at the next accident site after their discussion with the CHP officer. While proceeding down the road, it appeared that CHP had removed the other vehicles involved in accidents off of the direct roadway so traffic could proceed. Therefore there were no additional blocking accidents left to clear. Our driver pulled over at the next safe location making his truck visible and believed he saw the pick-up truck pass by. After waiting an additional 20 minutes to be sure that he was not mistaken, the BMW was taken to our Sparks yard. The vehicle was released to [redacted] ([redacted]) as soon as payment was made. We do not release accident vehicles without payment because people generally do not pay. [redacted] made many demands of our staff regarding the vehicle; however, until payment was made by [redacted], the BMW was not going to be released. All staff members and management would have provided [redacted] with the same information. The process took longer than required because [redacted] came to our yard to pick-up the BMW, and they did not have payment. This is an unfortunate situation that should have been handled better by our driver and could have been resolved in a much more cordial and faster manner with calmer actions and better communication by all. Again, we apologize for our role in not being able to clearly communicate how the highway patrol manages blocking accidents during snowstorms and also for making the assumption that [redacted] was associated with the people in the pick-up truck with whom she appeared to be very comfortable. We do not apologize for requiring payment for services rendered at the orders of CHP on a dangerous and slippery highway. However, again, better communication could have made this situation better. Milne is a highly professional company with the best equipment available and highly trained drivers. We respond to hundreds of accidents over the course of a year and we have never had a situation quite like this one. We will use this incident as a case study for how to improve our communication and professionalism with people who are understandably upset.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)It is apparent that the method of operation for this company is to deflect all blame on other parties. Previously, they placed the blame on the California Highway Patrol and myself. Tue to form, they continue to not accept the facts. To set the story straight, they not only towed our car without our consent (saying they didn't need it since the CHP authorized them)they left my 18 year old daughter stranded on interstate 80 in horrific conditions that put her life in jeopardy. The bottom line is that I am not the only person that has stated their company has poor customer service, see other postings on yelp and the Revdex.com. Final Business Response Services were delivered per the instructions of the responsible government agency - California Highway Patrol. As I have previously stated, the situation could have been handled better by both parties, including My [redacted]. I aplogize for any misunderstanding at the accident and road closure scene. This situation does not warrant a refund - the service was delivered in a dangerous situation.

I was towed by Milne Towing. They caused damage to my car. They will not furnish insurance information because they ant to take care of it themselves. On May 20th, 2016, I was towed by Milne Towing in [redacted]. The reason for my tow was there was a mild snow storm that did not allow for me to drive my car. So I had to be towed. They raised the rear end of my car onto a dolly tow truck. BMW's should be on a flat bed. This is what the driver told me but said this was the only tow truck available. While towing me, snow got underneath the undercarriage belly pan and pulled the plastic pan out from underneath the car. The tow trucks snow chain came off and caused this. I have pictures as proof of my testimony. An hour later after the tow truck got me out of the snow, he released me. He noted the damage. The driver[redacted] asked if I wanted to trade the tow bill for the under carriage damage. It was a $580 tow bill which I have a copy of. I refused. Told him to bill me. I then took off in the car and it was smoking from the rear end with an awful odor inside the cabin of the car. I pulled over immediately. The tow driver pulled behind me and asked what was wrong. I told him the car was smoking and smelling of something burning inside. He told me to drive to the next exit. I did. The car then had a howling noise coming from the rear axle. I pulled over once again with the tow driver right behind me. I explained to him the problems. I told him I'd like his insurance info and he told me to call his manager [redacted]. I then drove my way home which was about 20 miles. The car was and has not been the same since.[redacted] stopped by my work office to look at the car the week after. He even drove it. I asked him for his insurance information and he would not provide it. Geico is my insurance company. They have tried to call MILNE TOWING and get some insurance information with no reply back. It has been 3 weeks. I cannot get any insurance information from these people. I'm not sure what I did wrong. I have emailed and texted [redacted] asking for his insurance company's name. Milne's stance on this is that they do not want to go through insurance since it raises their premiums. [redacted] stated this to me directly. I need to contact their insurance because I am not at fault here. I shouldn't have to use my insurance for their mistake. I want my car fixed by a car shop of my choice that specializes in BMW's. Not by their own people whom I don't trust to work on my car. Please help.Desired SettlementI asked for the following on June 1st, 2016, in trying to help them not file an insurance claim:Pay me directly $1,800 for the damage below: $580 undercarriage damage ([redacted] estimate)$580 for the tow (tow bill)$300 for new windshield washer reservoir plus labor (BMW Bill Pearce quote)$340 Rear End differential change/replace fluid (BMW Bill Pearce quote)This leaves out any transmission or rear end issues that they don't feel responsible for. I told them i'd sign a piece of paper releasing them from any further issues with the car.Business Response I am sorry you had a bad experience with Milne Towing Services. I am also sorry that you are claiming you require our insurance information, when you already have it and have made a claim against it about a month ago. The insurance inspector/adjuster inspected your vehicle last week, on June 20th; I have not received the report yet. While I do not want to have a back and forth with you regarding this matter, I will address a few of the items you have brought up.You stated that "The reason for my tow was there was a mild snow storm that did not allow for me to drive my car". My response to that is that the California Highway Patrol established mandatory chain controls on the section of highway you chose to drive on before you drove on it. In addition, you ignored those mandatory chain requirements and continued to drive, and that is the reason you got stuck. You stated to the driver and manager that you were sliding and slipping all over the road, which may be attributed to the snow and possibly ice on the road that caused you to get stuck in the first place. There was nothing mild in the snow storm that prevented you from driving, especially considering that the California Highway Patrol chose to close that section of highway for a few hours for safety concerns while the roads were being plowed and other stranded motorists like yourself could safely be removed from the road.I agree with your statement that the preferential vehicle to be used for towing a BMW is a flatbed vice a wrecker, but a wrecker style truck will still suffice. A disadvantage for using a wrecker in this situation is that the wrecker does not allow as much ground clearance as a flatbed. Unfortunately, because of the lower ground clearance, snow did gather under the belly pan and caused its connection to become broken. Milne Towing Services acknowledges this, and offered to pay for the complete replacement and repair of the belly pan. However, you have refused. A loose chain from the tow truck would not have caused the belly pan to become damaged the same way snow gathering on it would.I do not know what the odor is you are talking about. In addition, I cannot diagnose the howling and noise you are claiming from the rear axle. Milne Towing Services did offer to inspect your vehicle and try to figure out what the problem was at a mechanic garage of your choice, but you also refused that.I am sorry that [redacted] has not been able to get a hold of our insurance, as you stated. If that is still the case, could you please forward our information you already have? Thank you.One of the reasons that we have not responded further to you is because you stated you no longer wished to talk to us and preferred to go through insurance, which is a choice we are respecting. To address your desired resolution:Milne Towing Services will continue to go through insurance to resolve this problem.Again, I apologize for any problems or inconveniences we may have caused in the towing of your BMW. I expect that we will reach an agreement through our insurance company.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)First off Milne,I did not have access to your insurance company because your manager Joe would not furnish it because the owner told him not to give it out and not to accept my offer of $1800. That's your problem, not mine. So don't sit here and lie and say I've had your insurance information for a month!!!! Yes, I have it now, but not for the first 3 weeks!!! It has been over a month. Next, The highway workers flagged me through to proceed. It wasn't until a highway patrol officer stopped me 5 miles later that I got stuck in my "shoes" so to speak. He stopped me, I pulled over to the side and I wasn't able to proceed any further. The highway patrol asked me to turn around. I couldn't move the car. I was not going anywhere. That's when they called you! I didn't call you. You had better get your facts straight before you say that is the reason I got stuck!!!!! Were you there??? No. Then don't comment on something you know nothing about. You were in bed at this time! And yes I refused for your company to pay for the belly pan. Because there are more issues than just the belly pan. Why would I accept your pathetic deal of just getting that replaced?? When there's 10 other things now wrong with the car. And, I'm really starting to feel pain all over my body from being towed inside the car with my whole family and your tow truck driver lost control of the tow truck and almost put us into the side rail. I'm glad you agreed a flatbed would have been better. But I don't have 35 days for a wrecker style truck to SUFFICE. Do you get what I just said? Because you believe your wrecker style truck sufficed in picking up my car, I now have a big problem with my car that has not been fixed for 35 days now!!! Next, you sent your manager Joe over to inspect my car. And you told him to have it inspected at a garage of your choice, not my choice. And who would pay for this inspection??? I WOULD!!! You guys didn't want to use your insurance company. You wanted me to just FLY away. We'll I'm sorry but I'm staying right here. Not going anywhere. And yes, you will reach an agreement with your insurance company, BY PAYING A HIGHER PREMIUM! Ugh, you guys make me sick. Why don't you go on YELP.com and see all the negative reply's you have received. You guys have done me poorly. This is the first time in 41 years that I have ever written the Revdex.com. I hope you take pride in that for $1800. What a joke you are! Final Business Response I am sorry that you have had a bad experience with Milne Towing Services. We always strive to do the right thing and take care of our customers, but in this instance, it seems we have fallen short of our mark.During our initial correspondence, you stated that you no longer wished to deal with us and desired to go through insurance instead. That is what we thought we were doing and apologize for any inconvenience we have caused you.I am happy that we have come to a resolution that you are comfortable with. Sincerely, Milne Towing Services.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Yes, you have fallen short of your mark. I was treated poorly, no communication, and hiding insurance information that I desperately needed. I did state that I wanted to deal with your insurance. But that is not what you guys wanted. Hence why it took 3 weeks exactly to give my insurance company your insurance information. Should never have took that long! That is NOT what you thought you were doing. If you thought you were doing that, then you would have done it.This is why I am upset. I am not upset that you damaged my car. I'm not upset that you rejected my initial low ball $1800 offer to settle. I am upset with how you send your roach to my job and have him inspect my car only to not accept my offer and then hold insurance information from me hoping I would just GO AWAY.This isn't my resolution. And you surely didn't help with US coming to a resolution. Me having to fight to get your insurance information is what got a claim started and it is your insurance company [redacted] that has brought on a resolution that worked out for me. So please don't try to seem like a good company and person now. You handled this poorly.

Three months ago I sold my 1999 Toyota Corolla. Before I did I went down to the Nevada DMV and returned the plates and cancelled the registration to the car and received a print out receipt. When my husband and I sold the car we filled out the California title, a Bill of Sale signed by both parties(for Nevada), and personal receipt. That was the end of our transaction on our part. This month I receive a letter stating that on 04/08 the car was impounded and my husband and I are liable for the fees. I call Milne Towing Company and speak to [redacted] who informs me that as of today the fees total $965. I told him that I have a Bill of Sale for the car and cancelled the registration under my name for the car. [redacted] proceeded to tell my that none of that matters since I was the last registered owner of the car and the new owner did not update their information. He then tells me if I send $200 to the company that they will take care of getting the car out of my name and I will not have to worry about it anymore. After that he informs me that if I do not pay the $200 by 05/06 that they will sell the car at auction and the total fees will be $2800 minus the amount they sell the car for after that they will send it to collections. I initially said "ok" and then asked if I will receive proof from either the company or the California DMV that this issue will be taken care of. His response is "you will receive a returned check that is it." This does not sit well with me. I then call both the California DMV and Nevada DMV who both tell me I am not liable for the car because the Bill of Sale is a legal document used for instances like these. I call the company back and get nowhere with [redacted] who is adamant that my husband and I pay.Product_Or_Service: NoneAccount_Number: Ref# [redacted]Desired SettlementI want the company to contact and make the new owners liable for the all the fees incurred once the car was impounded under their ownership (whose information I will gladly provide). I will provide the company with all the legal documentation through certified mail of the transaction between my husband and I and the new owner and I would also like a letter from Milne Towing company stating that they no longer hold my husband and I liable for any charges for car we legally sold on 01/20/2016.Business Response The 1999 Toyota Corolla is titled in California and registered in Nevada. Although [redacted] sold her 1999 Toyota Corolla in January 2016 in Nevada, she was the legal owner of the Corolla when Milne Towing Services requested the information from the California DMV and Nevada DMV on 4/12/2016.The 1999 Toyota Corolla is titled in California: for California titled vehicle sales, the seller of the vehicle fills out the release of liability attached at the top of the vehicle title, and then that release of liability is submitted to California DMV, which is used to update their database. This release of liability was not turned in to California DMV, which is the reason [redacted] remains the legal owner of the Corolla according to the state of California and is the reason she received the lien notice.Tommy has been in contact with [redacted] regarding this issue. Per those discussions, [redacted] needed to submit the Corolla's bill of sale to Milne Towing Services prior to changing the tow bill liability to the "new owners".[redacted] submitted the required document on the same day she submitted her complaint. We have removed her as the responsible party for the towing invoice (#[redacted]). However, she remains the legal owner of the 1999 Toyota Corolla according to the state of California.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)My husband and I appreciate the response made by Milne Towing and the removal of our names as the responsible parties for the towing invoice #[redacted]. We will accept Milne Towing 's response when we receive written notification from the business (for our records) at our current address that was provided with this complaint that states that we are not responsible for any towing, storage, unpaid fees, or any other charges associated with this vehicle and these charges will not be sent to collections under our names. We did/have filed a release of liability form with the California DMV even though we have repeatedly been informed by DMV representatives we are not required to do so and have a copy of that and of the title of the vehicle signed by the new owner on 01/20/16 if legal issues surrounding the ownership of the car is still an issue. I will gladly provide these documents and any other Milne Towing needs through certified mail to the company. We appreciate the showing of goodwill by removing our names and we will promptly accept their response once we receive this letter. Final Business Response Email sent to [redacted] ([redacted]) with a Milne Towing Services "Vehicle Cost Release" for the 1999 Toyota attached in pdf form.Final Consumer Response Milne Towing has provided me with a letter stating that I am not responsible for charges and I accept their response.

On 4-26-15 I had my 19 89 [redacted] rv towed from [redacted] south lake tahoe california [redacted] to 1456 e ranger road reno nevada 89506 it was towed by milne towing the driver was a guy named [redacted] when he arrived at the location the fiberglass spare tire cover wasnt on the rv it must have fallen I told the tow driver he just laughed then he laughed so I called the milne towing and I told the girl that answered the phone she said we had to call the office and talk to the owner on monday 4-27-15 she said the driver was in utah so nobody ever called me back the driver arrived on friday 5-1-15 and took pictures and said he was going to give to his owner the owner never called me back. I think it is very unprofessional noone even called me backProduct_Or_Service: fiber glass spare tire coverDesired Settlementit is a special order it is a fiberglass spare tire cover it cost between 550.00 to 800.00 for a new one I want it replaced or refund to get a new one Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted].comResponse to Revdex.com Complaint [redacted] - [redacted]On April 26, 2015, [redacted] requested through [redacted] Motorclub that her 1989 [redacted] RV be towed from South Lake Tahoe, CA. to Reno, NV. We sent a very experienced Heavy Duty Tow Truck driver ([redacted]) to tow Ms. [redacted]' RV. When [redacted] arrived at the tow scene, a man met [redacted] and stated that he was [redacted]. The man told [redacted] that he had been driving the RV and that it broke down in South Lake Tahoe and he believed the RV required a fuel pump. [redacted] observed that the RV had a flat tire in the left side inner dual. He also noted that some of the tires had dry rot. This is a condition consistent with a vehicle that has been sitting for a long period of time. [redacted] removed the left rear wheel cover and aired up the flat tire. The flat tire appeared to hold air so it could be safely towed. [redacted] then replaced the left rear wheel cover. The RV was then hooked up to the tow truck for a front tow. When [redacted] did his safety walk around the RV, he did not observe the spare tire wheel cover. This is a common condition for old vehicles that appear to be in need of many repairs, so he did not make any special notes. [redacted] towed the RV to Reno as requested. At the completion of the tow, [redacted] did a walk around the RV with the man. Nothing was said about the spare tire cover. On Monday, 4/27/15, a woman called our office and said she was [redacted]. I was out of the office for several days at the time of her call, so she left a call back number. When I called back, I was connected with a man who was difficult to understand, but I thought he said his hub cap was missing. Because [redacted] had removed the left rear wheel cover to air up the inner dual tire, I believed that we were talking about the left rear wheel cover/hub cap. I told the man, that I would send [redacted] back over to get a sample of the wheel cover/hub cap, and we would replace it. When [redacted] went back to the RV drop location, he met the same man and found that the left rear wheel cover/hub cap was in place and properly installed. It turns out that the man was not talking about a lost hub cap on the left rear wheel, instead he was speaking about Spare Tire Cover on the back of the RV. [redacted] asked the man what kind of cover was on the spare tire: Canvas or Fiberglass? He stated that he did not know, but he knew that there was a cover on the spare tire. [redacted] then proceeded to examine the spare tire and took pictures of the RV Spare Tire area. After he took his pictures, [redacted] tried to have a discussion with the man about how the tow was conducted; [redacted] tried to explain to the man that at no time did he ([redacted]) have any reason to touch the spare tire cover. The man raised his voice and only wanted to argue that we needed to buy him a new Spare Tire Cover. He did not want to have a calm, reasonable discussion, or understand the towing process; he only wanted to make demands. The position of Milne Towing on this incident is as follows:At no time during the course of the tow, did our driver touch the spare tire cover. Touching the spare tire was not required to complete the tow.The man, who we now assume was Mr [redacted]s, stated that he had just been driving the RV; so there was no reason for [redacted] to believe that parts of the RV were going to fall off during a normal front tow. The RV was traveling in the same direction it normally does when driving down the road.Towing the RV from the front, would not exert any forces on the spare tire cover or any other part of the RV that wouldn't normally be encountered when driving forward. A reasonable person does not expect the mirrors or wheels or any other parts of the vehicle to fall off a vehicle that has just been normally driven. The same applies for the spare tire cover. The pictures that [redacted] took show that the locks for the RV Spare Tire Cover were in the locked position. If the cover had been properly installed, or if the locking mechanism on the spare tire cover was working and not broken, the spare tire cover should not have fallen off when driving or towing. If there was a spare tire cover on the RV, it was installed improperly and the lock hooks did not hold the cover in place. If Mr [redacted]s had been driving the RV just prior to towing as he stated, the Spare Tire Cover may have fallen off while he was driving the RV.Again, the only reason a spare tire cover would fall off the RV would be either because it was not installed properly, or because it was broken.Towing would not cause a properly installed spare tire cover to fall off. The spare tire cover was not broken as part of the tow because it was not touched by the tow truck driver. It is not the tow truck driver's responsibility to check that parts of the RV are going to fall off unless they are parts that would be encountering forces uniquely caused by towing. As another example, if the AC unit on top of the RV, or if the rear ladder fell off, it would not be caused by the tow. It would be caused by other reasons such as wear and tear, or rust or improper installation. These items should not fall off through the normal forces of driving and neither should a spare tire cover. The man also did not point out that the Spare tire cover was missing after the tow was completed. He only complained about the lost cover at a later time. The spare tire cover could just as easily have not been there before the tow commenced.Never-the-less, even if the spare tire cover was on the spare tire, (which [redacted] believes it was not) Milne Towing is not responsible for a part falling off of the RV that any reasonable person would expect to be secure. It is not standard towing practice to check that all parts of a vehicle are securely fastened when the owner/operator states that he had just been driving it when it broke down with a bad fuel pump. MS [redacted]' RV was delivered when and where requested through her motorclub. We do not believe it is reasonable for her to try to hold Milne Towing responsible for an improperly installed part of the RV. We are not certain who Mr [redacted]s is for sure. We assume that he is the man who identified himself as [redacted] to [redacted] our driver. Neither Mr [redacted]s nor MS [redacted] is entitled to a refund or compensation for a spare tire cover.[redacted]General ManagerMilne Towing ServicesConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)[redacted] is a lier he never even called me back he has a a on his rating it should be a f for being a lier I called [redacted] I have proof it is on my phone the date and time it doesnt matter whos card it was I have my own [redacted] card in the name of [redacted] I have a picture of the missing extra spare tire cover the owner doesnt want to pay for his employees mistake. I told him the first day when he left the rv that the extra spare tire cover wasnt there the driver just laughed I called the milne towing the woman that answered the phone said that I had to call back on monday the owner wasnt there. on monday when I called the lady that answered the phone said that the driver was in utah. the owner never called me back thats wny I put in the report the driver knew that it wasnt a tire off the rim it was the extra spare tire that is on the back of the rv the driver took a picture of it it is all lies he should take on the responsibility since he towed it because it was there when it left lake tahoe Final Business Response It's unfortunate that Mr [redacted] is calling me names. We did exactly as I wrote in my prior response. I sent my driver "[redacted]" out as my representative to meet with Mr [redacted], who by the way identified himself as "[redacted]" when [redacted] originally met with him. As stated previously, Mr [redacted] lost his temper with [redacted] and did not want to have a discussion. [redacted] tried to explain about the tire cover and that we are not responsible for checking the condition of every part connected to the RV, and even more so when the owner states that he had just been driving it. Mr [redacted] was demanding and rude when he spoke to [redacted] and called our office. There is no way to have a reasonable discussion with someone who is just demanding that we owe him a new tire cover. Properly installed tire covers don't just fall off. As I stated in my previous response, [redacted] did not make any mistakes. Towing does not cause parts to fall off a vehicle that has just been driven and [redacted] had no reason to touch the tire cover. As I said, if Mr [redacted] had been driving the RV as he stated, the spare tire cover could have fallen off when he was driving it. However, even if the cover did fall off during the tow, it was because it was improperly installed by someone other than us. We are not responsible for a spare tire cover falling off the RV when we did not have any need to touch it. A front tow is no different than driving. The tow, did not cause the tire cover to fall off. With the tow cover locks being in the locked position as [redacted] observed them, the tire cover should not have fallen off if it was properly installed. Tire covers just don't fall off vehicles. I sent [redacted] as my representative to review Mr [redacted]'s complaint. The only answer Mr [redacted] wants to hear is that we are going to buy him a new Spare Tire cover. He did not want to have a discussion with [redacted] and further discussion with me will be no different. Now if Mr [redacted] wants to discuss honesty; Mr [redacted] told us he had just driven the RV and it needed a fuel pump. When [redacted] was disconnecting the drive shaft, he found spider webs and insect PODs around the drive-shaft and yoke with the webs connecting to the frame indicating that the RV had not been driven for a long period of time. When [redacted] asked Mr [redacted] about this, he assured [redacted] that he had just been driving the RV. When [redacted] asked him questions about the RV, he did not seem to know anything about it. [redacted] stated that this it was odd for an owner who had been just driving the RV to know so little about it. At the drop off location for the RV, there is a storage lot where several other RVs were in various stages of refurbishment. After dropping off the RV [redacted]'s opinion was that Mr [redacted] is running a commercial RV refurbishment business and he used the motor-club tow for a commercial venture. We do not know exactly what Mr [redacted] is doing with multiple RVs, but he is calling me a liar when he has not even been forthcoming about conditions relating to this tow, or even his name. We always deal with people in a reasonable manner and in good faith, when they do the same. We do not believe that Mr [redacted] has been doing either. It would be easier for me to pay for a tire cover just make this go away. I do not feel we are responsible for all of the reasons stated above. I do not appreciate being called names by someone who falsely identified himself and did not provide the driver with the actual history of the vehicle prior to the tow. After saying all of this - we did not make any errors and we are not responsible for a spare tire cover falling off a towed vehicle because we did nothing to cause it to fall off. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)that is just another lye we pay rent to put our rv there it is not no commercial business for his information that is a privately owned lot we pay a fee to park our rv there and all the other people pay rent to park their rvs there he just dont want to replace the spare fiberglass tire cover
