Thank you for contacting me on this matterIt is unfortunate when a loved one passes away, and understand the difficulties the family is going throughThe family member erroneously believes that she is entitled to a refund because her mother did not stay the full month that her lease rental entitled her to.I informed her that the unfortunate passing of her mom does not relieve her from the responsibility of paying the monthly rent; just like it is with any other monthly lease rentalThe monthly charge is payable whether on vacation, hospitalized, or for any absence while the lease is still in effectTherefore, we do not prorate any part of the rental just because something happened before the end of the monthexplained that there was no refund because her mother was not on a daily rate - the daily rate would have been way higher than the monthly rate charged to her momAlso, it would be inconceivable for the facility to discharge a terminally sick patient, and put in a healthier one; just because the poor prognosis meant that the chances of getting paid were reducedThis is why we charge monthly fees for the accommodations so our patrons are secure in the knowledge that their room is theirs till the endThe relationship established between this family and the Milo Care personnel is worth more than any monies exchangedTherefore, I am willing to meet her halfway to try and resolve this issuerealize that I have not been quick in getting back to her to address this issue, but it is really sad that it came this far.Sincerely,Joyce K [redacted] Milo Care Inc
