The Milwaukee Emergency for Animals has a veterinary staff that is knowledgeable in every area you can imagine! My Golden Retriever Sabastian was having some behavior problems that I was unable to manage or overcome by myselfI am a flight attendant, and am therefore away from home regularlyWhile I am away on my trips, I leave Sabastian with my sisterHe was not handling my absence well...he would scratch and chew to the point of nearly destroying whatever was the object he chose to fixate onMy sister recommended the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals in WisconsinWe got an appointment with [redacted]  who quickly diagnosed Sabastian's behavior problem as separation anxietyApparently, his behavior is common in Golden Retrievers, because they are so attached to their owners [redacted]  knew exactly how to overcome his behavior problems that were nearly destroying my sister's home! She gave me so many tips and activities me and my sister can do to help alleviate the stress he was experiencing with my departure, from shorter departures, helping detach the cues of my departure, to extra activities out of the house while I am awayWe ALL thank you MECA and [redacted]  You are all amazing! I never knew the fix would be so easy!

My beloved Bearded Dragon Tony seemed lethargic and sickNormally, he was ready and waiting for his dinner, but he got to the point where he just seemed abnormally sleepyWhen I picked him up and put him down, he just laid in the same place I left himHe was nearly unresponsive to touch at all and his shedding cycle seemed off, tooI took him to the Milwaukee Emergency for Animals pet hospital in Milwaukee, WisconsinA good friend of mine said they specialize in exotics, so I was hopeful they would be able to helpBoy did they exceed all my expectations! Upon Tony's exam, they knew exactly what was wrongThey gave him IV fluids, a special mixture of vitamins and minerals he was deficient in and with their advice, I have adjusted his diet and lighting in his aquariumTony is happy and healthy and I am a very happy customer! The staff at MECA is second to none -- from the reception staff, to the vets...they are kind and knowledgeable!

I want to take the time to give a review for the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals in Milwaukee, WisconsinMy beautiful cat Stuart suffered an accident when he was crossing the street when a truck hit himI was devastated, to say the leastI scooped him up in my arms as quickly as I could and drove him to MECA straight awayMy mom has taken her beloved poodle there for years and because of the care she has received by [redacted] I never would have considered taking Stuart anywhere elseI am happy to say that Stuart is doing fine and made it through his terrible ordeal with flying colors, thanks to the amazing, compassionate staff at MECA and most especially, [redacted] I was completely in awe at the state-of-the-art equipment the hospital has, which made the care he received second to none in or around the Milwaukee areaFrom the x-ray equipment, cat scan, lab and the surgery required to mend his broken leg, the hospital and staff were nothing less than exceptionalStuart is here today...happy and healthy thanks to [redacted]  and MECAStuart and I thank you!

My 10-year-old, beloved German Shepherd King has suffered from extremely bad breath for some timeI tried biscuit-type bones and other treats specifically made for cleaning a dog's teeth...everythingNothing seemed to work and I was worried that it was affecting his health, because his teeth were beginning to yellow and his age made me worry even moreI live outside of Milwaukee about an hour away, but heard great things about the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals, so decided to take him there*** *** *** the veterinary dentist at MECAs pet hospital, examined King and found that he had the beginning of periodontal diseaseIt actually required that King be put under general anesthesia to have a deep cleaning, so that the disease did not affect his organs and most especially, his heartI can never thank *** *** or the rest of the staff enoughWhat seemed to be such a general, every day problem, could have become something so much worse*** *** explained to me the importance of regular teeth cleaning and they gave me all the tools and information I needed! THANK YOU MECA!

I have spoken to *** *** ID #***She stated that the only resolution she would accept would be a full refund ($1709.15) for all diagnostics, care and hospitalization done at Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals, plus the cost of the visit to her vet on 6/13/
On 4/20/Ms*** brought her cat *** to MECAHe received an exam, blood work and a urinalysisHe was diagnosed with renal failure and Dr*** recommended hospitalization*** was hospitalized until 4/23/When he was discharged he was doing better and his blood work was within limitsMs*** was instructed to give sub q fluids at home and to have recheck blood work done in weekShe did not return to MECA for the recheck blood work and there was not a record of blood work from her vet Dr*** in the records he sent to MECAWe did not hear from Ms*** againAfter I became aware of the claim Ms*** filed with the Revdex.com I contacted her vet, Dr*** at Crawford Animal HospitalHe said she had come to him 6/13/with *** not doing wellHe had done diagnostics and confirmed renal failure that had progressedMs*** chose to euthanizeDr*** seemed to think the care given at MECA was necessary and reasonable
Ms*** claims she was charged for x-rays and an ultrasound that she never receivedIn reality she was not charged for either an ultrasound or x-raysThe only ultrasound that was done was very brief to guide the veterinarian to extract urine for a urinalysisThe charge for that was included in the urinalysis chargesShe also claims that she was promised by the MECA veterinarian that "if she followed their directions and gave the subq fluids that *** would live to be 14-years old"(No doctor human or animal would ever make a promise like that - there are no guarantees in medicine)Ms*** also claimed that she was promised that all medical records could be viewed online so her vet could see themI told her that her medical records were private and it would not be legal for MECA to post them online for people to see. It is possible for veterinarians to view ultrasounds and x-rays on the MECA website with the proper case sensitive passwordMECA does routinely fax records of treatments to the owners regular veterinarian to keep them aware of all treatment and care the animal has receivedI do not think that we could come to a resolution as she will not discuss any of the claims when she was called
Please let me know if you need anything further
Sincerely,

I received this on the 17th and today is the 21st IF they were that concerned with clearing this up OR concerned about it at all for that matter they WOULD have contacted me THAT day (17th)So since they haven't and I only have days to accept or reject their "offer" I reject it In fact I don't want to talk to them at all at this point because NOT contacting me like they said they would speaks volumes as to what sort of "business" they truly are!!! So at this point, the only resolution that I will accept for their blatant and malicious dishonesty is the same as I stated in my original complaint Because at this point there is no excuse or explanation that they could give me that I would believe
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

When "Ms***" called me over a week ago (she also said that she would call me back the next day which never happened) I DID discuss things with her Although when she kept telling me what had happened and what was said when I was the one in the exam room with my daughter and the "person" that was telling us this and acting as if I were an it, not to mention calling OUTSIDE of business hours a would be taken aback I also have the bill that states they charged me for an abd0minal ultrasound on my cat Also YES there is a place on their website that IF you type in your customer ID number (which the number they have on my bills it tells me that that number doesn't even exist???? HHHMMM) you it says that you CAN pull up any x-rays or ultrasounds that were done on your pet THIS is what our vet did and I tried as well there is\was NOTHING there for my catWhich IF there really was one done on him even if it were one as "Ms ***" suggests you SHOULD be able to access it with your customer ID (...but there is NOTHING which again tells me they lie The vet even told me that there was nothing there and he also told me that's why there don't refer people to that place "Ms***" also told me that she spoke to our vet who said that he had only seen my cat that one time, this is also suspect to me because I have taken ALL of my cats to that vet for 26+ years so he has seen ALL of my cats NUMEROUS times, yet another lie by them So excuse me for not being happy about talking to her when she called my cat has only been gone only about a month and a half and he was a HUGE part of my family and then to have to talk to this "person" that you have the bills in front of you and you were actually in the room as the tech or whatever she was was talking to you and your daughter about your cat and then you have this "person" who wasn't even in the room etc and she is telling YOU what happened and what you are looking at and acting like and talking to you as if you are an it, un that would upset anybody!! I KNOW what I'm looking at and I KNOW what I heard Plus when you don't want to do business with this place again and they feel that it's okay for them to call you instead of doing it through you (the Revdex.com), as well as calling AFTER the days that the Revdex.com gave me to respond to them this would also upset someone that already has a problem with the business
I also find it ODD (which after dealing with how shady this place operates doesn't really surprise me) that they didn't respond back to you (the Revdex.com) until AFTER I had put on their FB page for nobody to take their pets there and followed it up with the fact that they don't follow through with what they say they are and that after posting on my personal page and my animal advocacy page that I have found other people that have had NEGATIVE experiences with them, such as being charged for things that were NOT done and sick animals being sent back home only to have to go to their regular vet so basically paying TWICE for the same problem (but the pet only getting better after going to their vet)!!! This just tells me that they really don't care about animals or their families and they are just trying to get as much money out of people, even people that may not be able to afford what they say they are doing
Them NOT wanting to do ANYTHING to resolve this matter, ESPECIALLY with someone that is so unhappy with their practices just shows me and will show OTHER people how incredibly shady this "business" truly is which is sad.

Business states that they will be contacting the consumer directly to discuss the issues

I would file an official complaint here but I have been shut down so soundly by MECA that I don't think it would do any good I am writing this review to try and keep others from making the mistake of taking any animal to this facility Our dog was kept for two nights for what we were told was a blood disease only to find out from our regular vet that she had an abscess tooth that was SO extreme it could have caused the blood counts to be off This after in charges that I believe could have been avoided with a simple check of her teeth The records we eventually obtained from staff indicated that her teeth were checked and showed no sign of trouble including no plaque Really NO plaque in a dog's mouth?? The exam was not held in the exam room we were initially taken to but in a back room per the vet tech's request We did not witness this exam so we still do not know whether her teeth were actually checked at all Over the course of about a week we saw different doctors but not the vet who seemed to be calling all the shots - DrLichtenberger Each doctor needed to check everything with Lichtenberger and all decisions regarding care seemed to involve Lichtenberger but we never saw her and I don't think my dog did either When I called them to discuss the diagnosis I received a less than warm response including the request that any follow up questions should be directed to my regular vetAs if I would let anyone at MECA touch my dog EVER again Now I will mention that my dog could still have the blood disease, we will not know this until the infection is cleared up The point I tried to make to MECA was that if the tooth issue had been discovered at the initial visit I would have requested antibiotics and would have followed up with my vet the next day thus avoiding stress to my dog and the charges we incurred for a TWO night stay Communication was also a huge issue with MECA You are able to call and leave a message for someone to call you but several times during my dog's stay we needed to go to the clinic in order to get any answers on her condition VERY expensive lesson learned Hoping this helps others from making the same mistake

My grandmother passed away recently and left her beloved Parrot, Ceasar behind. I did not know the first thing about how to care for a bird, let alone a huge bird, like a Parrot. I was getting worried, because Ceasar was refusing to eat and I knew I was doing something wrong. I tried researching it myself, but nothing was working. I decided to take him to the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals's 24-hour pet hospital. I have heard great things about them and was hopeful they could help. That was a complete understatement! The entire staff and veterinary team were unbelievable! As it turned out, poor Ceasar was depressed about the passing of my grandmother and experiencing grief (I did not know birds were capable of experiencing emotional pain from death). In addition, I was not giving him the cover over his cage nightly, which apparently birds need OR feeding him the correct diet. They educated me and provided me with the information and tools to not only care for Ceasar the way my grandmother wanted him to be, but he has come through beautifully! Thank you [redacted] and MECA!

While I am away on my trips, I leave Sabastian with my sister. In an effort to find a reputable, caring, compassionate vet care hospital for my two cats and Labrador, I did a lot of researching, which included asking around to people in the local area. I heard amazing things about The Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals from friends and several coworkers. I can tell you I had high hopes, but after taking my pets for their check-ups, as well as getting special help for my aging Lab Milly, I could not have been more pleased. They are not only everything I was hoping for, but far exceeded my expectations. The staff was so kind and helpful and the veterinary staff is exceptionally knowledgeable. I will go nowhere else. If you care about your animals...this is the place for you.

I have tried several different vet practices in and around the Milwaukee area. The Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals was far and above all the others for several reasons. From the staff to the vet, they are all patient, kind and caring. They genuinely care about the animal and have their best interests at heart. Don't settle for less. This vet practice is second to none!
