Review: I had called the business in question and spoke with Dan S[redacted] the locations manager originally January 28th 2013 and discussed with Dan what work my vehicle a 2003 [redacted] SE was in need of which included all four struts which quoted price given was $750.00 I then dropped off my vehicle on February 1st 2014 for the wok to be completed on February 2 2014, I was then contacted by Dan S[redacted] the afternoon of the 2nd and was informed that my vehicle was in need of further repairs in addition to the struts which included new bushings, swaybar link, and control arm and alignment of the front end due to rust as he informed me he could not put the existing parts back on due to the rust being severe which increased the total for the repairs to $1,063.93 of which I paid in full that evening, Then at the end of May 2014 I had begun to experience severe steering problems while accelerating the car would pull to the right and while braking it would pull hard to the left as well as making a very loud clunking sound to which made me contact Mr. S[redacted] again and after explaining to him of the issues was told to bring my vehicle back for him to examine again I then dropped of my vehicle the 6th of June 2014 to be examined the following day I then received a phone call the morning of June 7th from Mr. S[redacted] and was informed that my car again needed another control arm , sub frame and another front end alignment as well as two new front tires which was quoted at $1,550 for all work to be done , at this time I knew something about what was discussed did not seem correct so I then called my father [redacted] who is a retired ASE certified master inspection mechanic who still retains his inspection license who recommended I take my vehicle to [redacted] owner of [redacted] Auto Repair at [redacted], PA for a second opinion as he is a longtime business associate of my father and trustworthy, upon taking my vehicle to his garage it was then put on a lift to assess the issues previously brought to my attention it was at that time Jim asked me why Mr.S[redacted] completed the prior work in February when upon his inspection of the vehicle the entire undercarriage of said vehicle was discovered to have severe structural damage to the point that [redacted] had then asked myself and my father to inspect the undercarriage for ourselves which upon doing so [redacted] and my father then instructed me that my vehicle was unsafe to be driven and I was informed by [redacted] the prior work completed in February should have not been done as the vehicle was an extreme danger to myself and my disabled fiance and our infant son and was informed that if the car had been in an acciednt it would have resulted in severe injury or even death of someone in my family due to the vehicle condition I also then took pictures , at that time my Father contacted the Pennsylvainia Quality Assurance Inspector who then wanted to see my vehicle himself he then went to [redacted]'s garage and had the vehicle put on a lift for his inspection and in doing so parts of the vehicle dropped to the ground off of the undercarriage who also took pices of damage as well which then prompted the inspector to condemn the vehicle which is still on [redacted]'s property the title remains in my name after the inspectors examination I then contacted Mr. S[redacted] at [redacted] to inform him in detail of what had been discovered by myself and the inspector at [redacted]'s garage I then informed him I was instructed to obtain reimbursement for his previous services which due to his negligence in fully disclosing the extreme condition of the vehicle that were blatantly obvious at first examination by other qualified professionals but by Mr. S[redacted] were never addressed at that time I had tried discussing a reasonable solution to the issue of of refunding my money from the work done in February which inadvertently put lives in danger and was promptly informed with attitude from Mr. S[redacted] that he was not going to refund my money because I brought my vehicle to him he then implied the conditions of said car were my doing . I am very disgusted that a business like this would allow a Manager to not only treat customers in such a manner but blatently put peoples lives in danger and fraudulently misinformed me .Desired Settlement: I want my money refunded to me for the amount of 1,1063.93 that was paid for work that was uncalled for due to an unsafe undrivable vehicle

August 11, 2014I have reviewed the file on [redacted]’s vehicle service. We installed struts and springs according to the request that [redacted] made. We found it necessary to install sway bar links while servicing the suspension. This is common. The condition of the links very often will prevent them from being removed without them being damaged. They have to be removed to install the struts. The frame failure that [redacted] experienced is not related to the replacement of the struts. The lower control arm in board attaching point is where the frame failed. We do not remove the control arm when servicing the struts. We take the strut off at the out board connection to the lower control arm.Frame condition on a vehicle that is 10 years old is not one that can be easily determined. Rust is common on all vehicle of this age. Normal visual inspection, if performed may or may not lead one to determine that a problem exist. We were asked to replace the struts, we performed that task and aligned the vehicle. We cannot claim to have examined the frame in any detail. The vehicle performed for 3 months before the frame failed. Road conditions this winter certainly did not help the situation. While I understand [redacted]’s’ frustration, we cannot be responsible for making a determination if, or when a frame may fail, especially when we did not specifically inspect the frame as part of the services rendered.
