No Refill of My Psychiatric Prescriotions
I am a patient that has been under Psychiatric care for over 17 years . Part of that was in Cooperstown NY at Bassett Hospital that is affiliated with Columbia University. Upon Coming to Florida 4 years ago I established care with Mindful Behavioral Health in their Kississimme office. I first began seeing a Dr. Gonzalez , a Psychiatrist who had come over from Puerto Rico. He was nice but did not have experience with Computer system and had much difficulty preparing my scripts. He became ill during my sessions and was hospitalized. COVID occurred and my care was transferred over to Ingrid Encinas ARNP. I had only Telephonic visits with her. I have a complicated case with Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Nightmares, Restless Leg, Sleep Disorder and Hx of Domestic Violence and Internet Harrassment. My condition changes and is not stable from week to week. I need frequent visits for medication changes. While on the phone with Ingrid, it became apparent she was asking me what to do instead of telling me what should work in my situation. I came to find out that Ingrid is not a Psychiatric Nurse Practioner. I am in need of Medication Refills now, 4/22/2021 and the office staff, “ Joanne “ tells me that the record shows I was only on 25 mg of Seroquel when Ingrid last spoke to me in February. I am taking 125mg to sleep . I need a refill of 100 mg of Seroquel which I have a bottle of that just needs a refill. The office will not cooperate. I have an appointment with the Owner of the office Dr. Vivian Charneco scheduled an appointment with me fir May 18, 2021. It apparently cannot be moved up and there is no cancellation list per Joanne . This leaves me, a psychiatric patient who takes over 12 daily meds , without the medications I need to function. There is no excuse for this. I am in Palm Bay Florida and my phone is (315) 813-9360. I have been an inpatient several times in New York thus my condition is severe.

Provided wrong billing information and resulted in two $200+ bills.
My son and I both went to Mindful behavior clinic for our initial assessment. Two people collected my insurance card. They actually called the insurance company to confirm the insurance and coverage I had. They explained to me that I had a $15 co-pay.

Few weeks later I called to book my next appointment and they told me I had two outstanding balances of about $225 each total of $450. The women on the phone said they got the billing wrong and now I owe that balance. This is a classic bait and switch, they were on the phone with the insurance company and had the opportunity to provide the correct information so I could make a decision on moving forward. They lied about coverage and cost and now I have a huge balance.

Desired Outcome

Please remove any charges and I will be looking for another psychiatrist.

When purchasing an insurance policy, beneficiaries are provided with a packet including their benefits. All insurances have a disclaimer stating that "benefits are not guaranteed until the claim is received and processed." This means that even though the insurance company tells us, the medical office, that the patient's responsibility is a particular amount, once the claim is process the actual amount the patient is responsible for may be different and our medical office has no control over that.

Additionally, this is included within our office's patient policies and responsibilities that every patient must read and sign at their very first visit with us. This particular policy states: "Every patient is responsible for paying fees and any balance that is not covered by his/her insurance at the time of the appointment." We are also open to making special payment arrangements so long as the issue is discussed with the appropriate office personnel.

We recommend that the consumer who filed this complaint contact their insurance company to clarify the situation immediately and then call our office if a payment arrangement needs to be made in order to avoid the involvement of a collection agency.

Thank you for your feedback and we hope that the above has clarified your concerns.

Best Regards,

Mindful Behavioral Healthcare Administration

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As a consumer we put our faith into business to do the right thing. They were on the phone twice with my insurance company and came to me and said that I owed small co-pay. After I spoke with an Agent of mindful, they stated to me that they screwed up the billing and should have charge more. If I had all the information upfront I wouldn't have continued with the appointment. Imagine any other business you buy a product or service they charge you $20 and than they send a bill for over $200. It wouldn't happen. People are using this service because they are having issues mentally and now you throw 1000% charges at them. Disgusting business and seems very much like a bait and switch.

We understand your frustration. As was previously stated, we recommend that you contact your medical insurance company in order to dispute the bill. However, keep in mind that it is possible that you could have had a deductible or a grace period that we were unaware of when we initially spoke with your insurance company and charged the recommended co-pay. It is the patient/beneficiary's responsibility to verify their insurance coverage and cover any costs associated with treatment that was not covered by their insurance. Our company verifies insurance coverage as a courtesy to our patients, as we know that it can be difficult to navigate medical billing.

Please contact your insurance provider to dispute the bill if you feel that you were billed incorrectly. You may also contact our office at 407-846-0533 so that we may further assist you with this matter. Thank you.
