Our experience with Ming’s was extremely disappointing. What a waste of our time! If you need the job done on time, don’t count on this company’s representations and don’t expect to be treated with the courtesy that any customer deserves. On July 25th, just before we went on vacation, we borrowed a truck and brought my husband’s favorite leather wing chair in for an estimate. A very nice woman, Maribel, helped us pick out the leather, gave us a price estimate and we contracted to have the chair done. She told us that it would be ready in three weeks. We would be on vacation then, so we asked if they could hold the chair for another week until we returned. She agreed and wrote: “three weeks or end of August” on the receipt. Perfect planning, our chair would be reupholstered while we were on vacation and returned in time for the arrival of our guests. On Thursday, August 28th we again borrowed a truck and called to say we would be down to pick up our chair. A young woman answered and said that she did not think it was ready. My husband asked her to please check on the status. She said she would call us back. When she did not call he called the store. No answer. He called again. No answer. Finally, after some time, he reached the young woman. She told him that she had not yet checked on our chair. He said he would hold on until she did. She got back on the phone and said that work had not been started on it! She offered no explanation for why our chair sat there for one month without being worked on; no apology for failing to complete the work on time or at least to call us to let us know why work had not begun. My husband said that the chair was supposed to have been done by this time. She snapped back that it was not promised until the end of August. This is the 28th of August, he replied. She contradicted him saying, in a confrontational tone, that Sunday is the last day of August. Do you work on Saturday & Sunday? he asked. No answer. We said we would pick up our chair. She then said she could have it to us by Tuesday. This was the Labor Day weekend. That would mean that the chair we left with them for four weeks and which was promised to be completed in three weeks would now be rushed and done in two days. Her attitude about the inconvenience this caused us was so cavalier that we lost faith in the company. When we arrived at the store, this young woman was at the desk. Again, there was no explanation or apology from her. My husband asked for an explanation. In an indifferent and totally detached manner, she said that sometimes they are backed up for more than a month’s work. Perhaps so, but this was not the case when we brought the chair in and assurances of completion were given. So, again, if you need the job done on time, don’t count on this company’s representations and don’t expect to be treated with the courtesy that any customer deserves.
