I ordered two game boards, playing stones, and bowls for the stones from this companyAfter ordering, I received a call saying they did not have the particular product I ordered in stockThis is a relatively common situation with companies of this type, since they typically move a large amount of stockThey had two items that were similar, one of lesser price but made of the same wood as the board I had ordered, and one slightly nicer and more expensive board made of bambooI asked that both boards be changed on the order to the bamboo board and the call endedI then received another call - The bamboo board wasn't bamboo, it turns outIt's woodI ask what kind, and the lady says "I don't know, but it's solid and very heavyIt's a nice board."This is the point at which a wise man like Abraham L [redacted] or Yoda would have backed out of the deal entirely, but I decided to be an impulsive man that just goes for it, like Dule H [redacted] character from the movie "Holes"When the boards got here, it turns out the "solid, nice" board was veneer over particle boardThe veneers on both boards were imperfect, bubbled, and had visible residue in several partsWiping the residue off with a damp cloth also wiped away any of the tan wood color as well, leaving unsightly bleached spotsThe particle board underneath the board is also imperfect, and has voids that are visible through the veneerThere are minor tears in the veneer on one board and major(about the size of a dime) on the otherThe boards were inexpensive, so perfection was not to be expectedEven so, it would have been nice for the limitations of the product to be explicitI sent them an email which explained that while I was not seeking a return, I was disappointed in their business practicesThey sent me back an email that said "Thanks for your feedback" and nothing moreThis is business that is so usual for them, apparently, that they have become desensitized to criticism and view it as a mere botherTLDR: The board I wanted wasn't available, and I ended up paying more for a far inferior piece that did not arrive in good conditionThe company was unapologetic and made very clear that they could not possibly care lessIf you buy from them, do so expecting the lowest possible quality, inaccurate product descriptions, damaged goods and(possibly) bait-and-switch type tactics

I ordered two game boards, playing stones, and bowls for the stones from this company. After ordering, I received a call saying they did not have the particular product I ordered in stock.
This is a relatively common situation with companies of this type, since they typically move a large amount of stock. They had two items that were similar, one of lesser price but made of the same wood as the board I had ordered, and one slightly nicer and more expensive board made of bamboo. I asked that both boards be changed on the order to the bamboo board and the call ended.
I then received another call - The bamboo board wasn't bamboo, it turns out. It's wood. I ask what kind, and the lady says "I don't know, but it's solid and very heavy. It's a nice board.". This is the point at which a wise man like Abraham L[redacted] or Yoda would have backed out of the deal entirely, but I decided to be an impulsive man that just goes for it, like Dule H[redacted] character from the movie "Holes".
When the boards got here, it turns out the "solid, nice" board was veneer over particle board. The veneers on both boards were imperfect, bubbled, and had visible residue in several parts. Wiping the residue off with a damp cloth also wiped away any of the tan wood color as well, leaving unsightly bleached spots. The particle board underneath the board is also imperfect, and has voids that are visible through the veneer. There are minor tears in the veneer on one board and major(about the size of a dime) on the other.
The boards were inexpensive, so perfection was not to be expected. Even so, it would have been nice for the limitations of the product to be explicit. I sent them an email which explained that while I was not seeking a return, I was disappointed in their business practices. They sent me back an email that said "Thanks for your feedback" and nothing more. This is business that is so usual for them, apparently, that they have become desensitized to criticism and view it as a mere bother.
TLDR:
The board I wanted wasn't available, and I ended up paying more for a far inferior piece that did not arrive in good condition. The company was unapologetic and made very clear that they could not possibly care less. If you buy from them, do so expecting the lowest possible quality, inaccurate product descriptions, damaged goods and(possibly) bait-and-switch type tactics.
