I am very sorry that Mr. [redacted] is unhappy with his Carrier furnace purchase experience. I did contact Jerome, the owner of Lakeland Heating and Tom [redacted], our sales rep, and they confirmed the accounting of Mr. [redacted]'s story until the part about that it was approved for the Trade In program (where...

the homeowner receives up to $900 in the form of a gift card from Carrier corporation). Both Jerome and Tom state that the "kitchen table" phone call from Jerome to Tom confirmed that the parts to repair the furnace would be covered under the unit warranty but the furnace was over 20 years old whichdisqualified it for the Trade In program.   Jerome stated also that Mr. [redacted] said something about having a friend that works for Carrier and that he would contact him to see if he could help, and that agreement to change the furnace was completed even though it was made clear that the trade in program was not applicable.When Mr. [redacted] contacted Carrier about this, the customer relations agent misspoke when she stated that “the amount is at the discretion of the dealer and distributor”. This reference is for a different program whereby the furnace is repaired and labor may be paid towards the repair. But this program also is limited to the furnace being under 20 years old.Again I am very sorry for the confusion but since the installing contractor communicated the options accurately and prior to the installation of the new furnace we must respectfully decline the request for $900 compensation. Keith [redacted] Manager, Technical Support and Warranty.  Minnesota Air.
