the Minnesota Farm Bureau, respond. This complaint deals with our insurance affiliate, Farm Bureau Financial Services. The complaint from [redacted] and the underwriting file have been reviewed. Review of the underwriting file indicates that upon submission of the original application, Ms. [redacted] was provided with a discount for being a good student and for having auto insurance prior to purchasing insurance from Farm Bureau.
Ms. [redacted] provided documentation to our agent outlining her grades and eligibility for a "good student discount". The agent did not apply this discount to the policy. After our review of this situation, the good student discount will be added for the policy term which will generate an additional refund to Ms. [redacted].
Ms. [redacted] did not provide proof of prior auto insurance to our agent. Pursuant to our filed underwriting guidelines, a rating surcharge was added to the policy to reflect no proof of prior insurance. This change in rating factors was the driving factor in the increase in Ms. [redacted]'s rates over and above the rate quoted by our agent during the time that this policy was in force and providing insurance protection for this client.
Based on our review, Ms. [redacted] will receive an additional refund in the amount of approximately $52.78 to reflect the application of the good student discount to the policy. This refund request has been submitted to our home office and should be disbursed in the very near future.
