We had our furnace die and looked online for a company We found one and used their online service to san appointment We received a confirmation email for the date and time requested The appointment time came but nobody came No call or email After waiting for an hour we called the number included with the email They had no record of us in their system While they were very polite on the phone, they were clueless Telling them about the furnace dying and then having the plumbing freeze in the bathroom in our house addition, she only clued into the furnace being dead and having no heat after about minutes of getting us hooked into a plumbing insurance and 'maybe' getting a plumber out that day to thaw the line But we would have to wait over a week to have someone come about the furnace We called Balcaen and Sons We were told that all their technicians were out but they would do their best to have someone come to check it out that day An hour later we got a call from Mike He asked some questions and said he'd be by to check it out after he finished up at a job that was near by He came by and checked the furnace, the gas line, the breaker etc He was super, super polite and didn't tramp all over the house poking his nose into everything He asked where something was when he needed it or to look at it, asked lots of questions instead of just assuming about everything Unfortunately, the furnace was not okay and needed to be replace He was very thorough in explaining our financing options, furnace options, explaining about what was comparable to what we have Any question I had or any of us had, he was able to answer and explain He offered space heaters right away and left one for us that day Even offered to bring more if we wanted it He kept us up to date on how things were going, and kept the ball rolling for financing He went above and beyond what could be asked of an employee We were never left wondering what, if anything, was being done about our situation He left us his number and email right away and we could always ask him questionsI couldn't have asked for a nicer experience with a company or their employees Even the guys who installed the new furnace, Cam and Max, were great I can't imagine anyone having any complaints about this company My kids, my family and myself thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! We will happily recommend you guys to anyone and everyone!

I entered a complaint earlier about the charge of $which I was not told about on the phone by there answering servicewas told a rate of a different amountBalcaen called me today after I voiced a concern to there office about the misinformationthey were very understanding and only charged me the tech fee of $approxI am grateful that after all this time they still remembered that I was not happy about the charge and they took care of itthis is an example of a well run first rate company and one who I will gladly still do business withgood job

We had purchased a home and the central air was fairly new but the following summer it was not cooling Balcaen came out to service and found it was low on charge but said they did not find a leak I questioned how this was possible, and was told that it could have been undercharged on initial install, plus loss/evaporation/small leaks Okay, fine But I knew it was cooling very well the previous summer Following spring it again was not cooling Called them again and this time the service person indicated that the line to the unit was leaking and was a fault in how it was installed Struggled with Balcaen as they did not accept responsibility for previous service person not catching the leak the prior year Upsetting when a company can not take responsibility for their errors/employees On the plus side, both service people were pleasant and professional 2nd service person was wonderful at explaining and really resolving the issue for good Other thing to consider - It took weeks+ for someone to service the unit both times

I called Balcaen"s to fix an upstairs toilet that would not stop runningThe person they sent flooded the bathroom which leaked down into our kitchen and we had to have the cupboards and ceiling fixedThey took no responsibility and I had to pay my deductible.I could have and should have called any plumber and have it fixed for about $but I thought that because of their reputation, Balcaen would do it properlyI was mistaken

PsThis happened about years ago and I am venting because of their advertising on T.Vthat you can save money which in my case proved untrue

I cannot express how grateful I am to Balcaen and Sons for their work on a bathroom renovation that required converting a tub to a shower and moving the plumbingThis was a very complex renovation due to the space constraints and the age of the home
They saved what could have been a disastrous reno and provided customer service at every step of the way that went above and beyondGeorge Balcaen's ongoing communication and follow up, assistance in coordinating the work and finding solutions and cost savings was so appreciatedThis is a company that cares about delivering quality work and exemplary customer serviceThe bathroom is beautiful and will be a joy to use for years to comeThank you!!
I would recommend Balcaen and Sons very highly for any of your plumbing needs

Balcaen & Sons has provided consistently superior service to us for at least two decades. Their staff's competence and service demeanor all the way from the folks who answer the phone to the techs who install is amazing. As our family grows up and the kids buy their own houses, I've put them onto the Balcaens - for a dad that's the ultimate tribute to the reliability of a business.

Projects they've completed for us include an A/C system, several hot water tanks, a new furnace, an electronic air filter conversion (to non-electronic because of the ozone smell) and numerous lesser service visits the most recent of which was a simple plumbing repair/enhancement to a downstairs toilet. In this case, the young tech was impressive in his focus and speed in installing my plumbing improvements so that I KNEW I was in good hands in terms of getting the right solution without a bloated hourly charge.

I particularly appreciate how their sales and tech staff take the time to explain technical considerations around a product you need to help you make a decision - never any upselling but always what you need to know to select the functionality model for your budget. And in 2015 when they installed my new furnace, the installers were thorough and good humored about addressing my many questions while they were working.

Pricing? I haven't cared for years because I know Balcaen is fair. (and I do check the competition occasionally and the price difference is negligible although I would be concerned about getting Balcaen quality from a cheaper plumbing and heating company.)

As an organization Balcaen has proved their competence, fairness, and genuine care for customers many times over.

Other thing to consider - It took 2 weeks+ for someone to service the unit both times.

I entered a complaint earlier about the charge of $285.00 which I was not told about on the phone by there answering service. was told a rate of a different amount. Balcaen called me today after I voiced a concern to there office about the misinformation. they were very understanding and only charged me the tech fee of $165.00 approx. I am grateful that after all this time they still remembered that I was not happy about the charge and they took care of it. this is an example of a well run first rate company and one who I will gladly still do business with. good job.
