Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:The repair and installation of wood flooring and the color of the stain performed by Minuteman are not in question.  However, we dispute his claims regarding the workmanship of the finish and claims that we somehow were at fault.  There were new windows throughout prior to his starting the project.  The front door area was securely boarded.  We did not run fans or blowers or do any vent work during the process of finishing.  We stayed off of the floor during the final applications of finish.  He informed us that he would vacuum completely and use a tack cloth to remove any debris before applying finish and that "it will be lovely".  During the finishing process, he had to sand down and re-apply finish because there were runs.  We did not and should not have ended up with 5 coats of finish.Initially, upon completion of the job, we noticed a few areas which we weren't complely satisfied with, but agreed to accept and we paid him the balance due.  However, over the course of the next several days, we discovered the following issues:  drum sanding marks, several glossy areas in what was supposed to be a low-lustre satin finish, a number of what we are calling freckles, and obvious debris in the finish. As for contact with Minuteman after the job was completed, I sent a text to him on July 27, 2016 at 9:50 a.m. stating our dissatisfaction.  We often communicated via text before and during the project, and I have no reason to believe that he did not receive this communication. As for the workmanship, we had three local and reputable flooring companies look at the finished floor and provide estimates to repair.  All three described the workmanship as "poor".  It was stated that (Minuteman) should have properly and completely removed sanding debris before applying finish coats and that he did not stir the finishing product frequently enough to avoid the gloss n the finish.   It was also stated that the life of the wood floor has been greatly diminished, leaving only one sanding left in it's lifetime.
Sincerely,

For this job, I put about 300 feet of new wood in and did extensive repairs. I did the job for $4200 where more companies would charge double that price. I was told I did a beautiful mechanical job. The job called for 3 coats of finish and they ended up with 5 and they were very happy. The work had...

6 colors mixed together and the wife approved of that. I put a tinted coat of finish on. They were happy or they wouldn’t have paid me. They got an average job at an average price. There is nothing mechanically wrong with their job. They got what they paid for and got a good deal. The job is certainly livable and usable. They worked in the house for the last two weeks while it was being finished including using a sander. That is the reason the finish may be hazy. It was in a dusty area, there was no front door or windows. They had vent work blowing on their newly installed floor. I was not contacted in writing initially, that is a lie. I received a phone call from them ONCE, and they told me the mechanical work was great and I told them I did a good job on the work. The call was not disconnected, I talked to him briefly and told him the job was completed correctly. They received extra coats of finish with no charge. I did nothing wrong.
