This is our response to the complaint filed by [redacted] for work that was done home on July 24,2014. We were hired to install one 40 gallon electric water heater in his home. He had an existing gas water heater in the closet and he wanted replaced with an electric. We agreed to remove... the gas water heater in the closet and install the electric in the storage room by the carport. There was existing power in the storage room. We used that power source to power up the water heater. The power source was preexisting. That is all we agreed to do. He is claiming that we did not do all the work as agreed and is asking that we do additional work with is over and above the written signed contract. T am faxing to you the signed contract with the details of the work agreed upon. We are requesting that the complaint against our company be dropped as there is no base for the complaint. We have addressed this two previous time and are now responding for the third time. Please advise.

Do you have a good Proctologist? You will need one if you call Minuteman Home Services.
I needed an electrical problem diagnosed as I could not find the problem with my pool motor.
I called them (first mistake) and they told me the call out was $50 dollars and would be waived if they did the work.
That sounded good so I made the appointment. The guy shows up and started to work and in a few minutes he had it figured out showed me what it was and tells me that it would be $295 dollars so far, just for the diagnostic work. It would be a lot more to fix the problem. Well I thought was way too high but you cant fix that kind of thing with the employee so I thought I would call the office to take care of that. So I gave him a check and off he went. I called and have been getting the bums rush ever since. The norm for a call out is in the range of 75 to 100 dollars. So I got ripped off because I was foolish and did not ask what they would charge before I let him start (second mistake).
So I cant get anything done with them. Maybe I can save someone else this problem. Don't trust them on anything, get everything in writing up front, or just be smart and go to another company for any work you may need.

Hello, Per our records, the price and work of “1 dedicated 120 amp line for spa” for $800 was signed and approved on 6/24/16.
10pt;">This is the verbiage in which you signed below approving the work: “ACCEPTANCE OF WORK PERFORMED: I find the service and materials rendered and installed in connection with the above work mentioned to have been completed in a satisfactory manner. I agree that the amount set forth on this contract in the space labeled “TOTAL” to be the total and complete charge….” Our pricing is straight from our books, and our prices are very fair. Pricing and a description of the work was given in writing and approved before the work was done. The job is done according to the signed receipt.   We hope that we can be of help in the future. Thanks, Minuteman Home Services

We called Minuteman Home Services in mid-November 2016. We had two bathroom faucets to install. We had all the parts including faucets and all the connects under the sink plumbing. (metal and plastic piping). All these materials cost us about $300 and were provided by a plumbing specialist at Home Depot. We met some resistance on one faucet removing a faucet piece before we called Minuteman. We called Minuteman and a plumber showed up. The timing was the week before Thankgiving 2016 and we had my son and his family including a 8 month old using the bathroom in question in several days.

So yes, we were anxious to get it repaired! The Minuteman plumber was very professional. He assessed the problem and said it would cost $1025 to repair. He had no parts to provide since they were there from Home Depot. We were stunned by the price for a job that took no more than 2 hrs. Yes - we were wrong in saying Yes to the bid estimate as we were anxious to get the job completed. We acknowledge this mistake.

The plumber was in and out in less than 2 hours. We didn't have this amount of check or cash on hand, so we were able to finance the $1025 with Red Brick Finance for 4 months, $0 interest if paid by March 1,2017. While we will meet this target date, finance company in Texas doesn't require any money to be paid in the 4 months and does not send any REMINDERS in the mail/online until the NO INTEREST deadline (March 1,2017) is passed. Then retroactively, you OWE up to $725 retroactively added to your $1025 plumbing bill which makes it an almost $1800 project excluding the $300+ we provided in plumbing parts for a 2 hr. straight forward job at best.

When I called the Minuteman Home Services owner after Thanksgiving to inquire about the steep price of the project, he took several days to return the call. I never asked for any type of price rebate but rather WHY was the cost comparible to plumbing rates in the West Valley. When the owner called me back and I explained my purpose (understanding the nature of the job), he stated that he would get back to me with further specific information of the on job PRICING. To this day, I have NOT heard a peep from Minuteman. I have called several times and left my name; yet no response. We called after Christmas to report a repair problem with one of the faucets sticking in the down-position and I have not hear a peep! We have resigned ourselves to paying what we OWE yet we will NEVER do business with Minuteman Home Services because of the TERRIBLE customer support and PRICE gauging for a job that took less than 2 hrs, to my knowledge, we provided ALL the parts. We did extensive research after this MINUTEMAN fiasco and plumbing rates in the West Valley range from $75 to $175+ depending on the project complexity.

I will not ever recommend Minuteman as remotely competent based on customer service and ' Inflated Pricing. Proceed at your own peril.

To whom it may concern:As stated in our original response - our company policy  is to charge a service call plus the work that is to be done. We do not include the service call in our quote for the work. We are sorry for the misunderstanding between Mr. Wolfe and our company. The customer was given the price for the work and a completed filled out invoice, which after his review he wrote a check and paid us for the work. If we had a concerned about the service call and the price for the work he should of expressed it at that time. Weeks after the work was completed he then brings it upWith in a few days he called our office and said that the fan - which he had purchased - was "wobbling". We came back out - AT NO CHARGE  -and did the best we could to balances the fan. That service call and work was valued at $ 150.00 Therefore we feel that we have done more then we should have done to satisfied the customer.   Sincerely - [redacted], Owner

I did accept the quote but they added the trip charge at the end anyway.I recalled the office on the same day to get this charge dropped and [redacted] said she would call me back the next day which she did not. Then I called agin and Mr. [redacted] said he would check with [redacted] and call me back. He did not return my call. I called agin [redacted] talked to me this time and said she would mail a check to me first thing in the morning. I did not receive that check. THANK YOU FOR THE REPLY. MONDAY I AM SENDING A CONPLAINT TO THE REGISTRAR OF CONTRACTORS.ROC..WHEN THEY COME LETS SEE IF  THIS JOB IS BY THE BOOK.YOU WILL GET A  COPY OF THE REPORT .WE WILL SEE IF THIS IS BY THE BOOK AND TO CODE. POOR WORK FOR $ 800 DOLLARS,THANS [redacted]

Review: I ask Minuteman Home Services to come to my home to install a ceiling fan and install two GFI elect. sockets. The office person told me their would be a $50 trip charge. I ask her if they did the work would the omit the trip charge and she said yes.

When the person came out to give me the price we agreed on a price and everything was a go. when he filled out the bill he started to add in the taxes and scribbled out the taxes and added in the trip charge. I did not catch it until the guy left/

After the work was done and the new guy who did the work left that I check the bill and saw what the first guy did buy adding the trip charge back end. I called the office right away and told the office person what he did and she said she would check the bill and get back to me. after a few calls she finally called back and agreed to send me $30 because she did not want to lose future business. She would send the check out the net day. When it did arrive in 4 days I called back and got the run around.

Then on Saturday the owner called and said he would not refund any money and that was that.Desired Settlement: Minuteman should refund me $36. That is the difference between the taxes and the trip charge. I think that is more than fair.

Review: I contacted this business by phone ([redacted] in order to change my gas water heater which was inside the house to an elecric water heater and put it outside in the storage area, the guy his name ( [redacted] ) came and see the place and we made a deal to change the gas heater by an electric one and to do the whole work including the heater water( i.e. he will bring the elecric water heater) for 800.00 USD, and he agree to that according to the receipt or contract # [redacted] on Thursday Juley,24,2014,then he sent 2 guys to work on that , but the water didn't get hot it was and it still warm but not hot, I called [redacted] many times he never answered course as he said he was buzzy even for my text he reply after a while (1-2 days) but all in -ve way,I told him maney times that the water heater is not working the he sent a guy with no any tools to look what's the problem, at that time the power breaker was tripped and that guy just turned the braker on and left, then [redacted] text me and said that the power line that he already installed should be different or it should be done differently which means that he or his business didn't do the right and good job because I hired him to do what it should be done correctly according to the code, so is not my problem that why I asked him to come back and fix it but he excuse that he cannot do it without extra charge but this is unfair he has to fix the work that he already did, the other thing that he left the water heater without installing the the pipe for pressure relief valve which is an emergency problem, he promised to do that at another time but he didn't, so he didn't install the water heater correctly and I need him to complete his work cause I already paid him, thanks.Desired Settlement: To do and finish his job or give the money back
