Review: I would like to file a complaint against Miosa Bride, located at 1125 J street, Sacramento CA 95814.

In November 2013, we purchased a wedding dress for my daughter from this store. After trying on a few dresses, she chose one and was measured by the sales associate to ensure correct size. Although they told me they would order the dress the next day, they actually waited for the dress to come in. During this time, I made several payments on the dress, each time asking for an itemized receipt showing the remaining balance due. They assured me they would send one, going so far as to repeat my physical and e-mail addresses; however, to this day I have never seen a receipt for this dress.

When the dress finally arrived, we received phone notification. I called and made arrangement to pick up the dress (and a veil we had purchased)on a Saturday afternoon, and was assured someone would be available to help us. However, when we arrived we were told that they were "very busy" and none could help us. We were made to wait over 45 minutes because the veil was not with the dress, we were given the impression that someone was in the back stitching some tulle to a comb.

We brought the dress home and hung it in a closet. A couple of weeks later, my daughter tried the dress on when her maid of honor came to see her...despite the fact that she had lost at least 10 pounds since ordering the dress, it was too small to go over her hips. It was also at least 8-10 inches too long. She went on a very strict diet to lose even more weight, but when she tried the dress again at the end of June, it still needed at least 3 inches added around the hips to fit correctly. Needless to day, we were in a bind - it had taken 6 months for this dress to come in, and now it did not fit.

I contacted the store and explained the situation. The sales associate who answered told me "very careful" and it was "very unlikely" that they had made a mistake. They offered to "remeasure" my daughter to prove to us that she had just gained so much weight that the dress did not fit. I told them this was unacceptable, and that I wanted a full refund and immediate refund. They refused. I have sent two letters to the store via fax trying to get resolution on the matter, to no avail. During conversation with our sales associate, [redacted], I commented that even if the dress could be altered (which it can't) the cost would be exhorbitant. She told me the average bride pays $500-$800 for alterations. Since the total cost of the gown and veil is just under $1,500, this would mean an additional 35-55% of the original cost for alterations. I thought this sounded out of line, so I called several other couture bridal shops in the area - each one told me that their average alteration cost is $300. Clearly, something is wrong.

I also filed a complaint with the designer of the dress, and received a call from the next day. That conversation confirmed that there is absolutely no way this dress can be let out enough to fit my daughter. In addition, this dress is designed for someone 5-6 inches taller than my daugther. The designer's representative said we should have been informed of this, because they do not make adjustments for length when producing the dress. because of this style of this dress, it would not be possible to take off the required length without severely impacting the appearance of the dress.

For all these reasons, I am asking for your help in getting my money refund. The dress is in its bag, ready to be returned. My daughter's wedding is now less than three weeks away, and the people at Miosa are refusing to return my calls.Desired Settlement: We very much need this money to finish paying for the rest of her wedding. I had truly hoped that the owner of the shop would step and take care of this matter, but he appears to only be interested in forcing us to keep a dress that does not fit and cannot be altered, and that we cannot use.

Review: The sales agent [redacted] pressured me during my dress appointment to buy that day. She ignored my misgivings about the dress. She did my measurements wrong, and got the dress size wrong (she didn't check the size of the sample I tried on). I placed the order and she asked for the whole amount without an option for a deposit. She did not say sales were final. The contract does not say sales are final or there are no refunds. I contacted her 3 hrs later to ask her not to place the order as I had second thoughts on the dress and wanted a different one I had also seen at the shop. She agreed, but didn't not cancel the order. I tried to go to the shop to resolve this the next day but she made me wait until she was working, and only during her limited availability. Meanwhile, she charged my credit card but did not order the dress.I am appaled at the lack of customer service and the attitudes of this business.Desired Settlement: I want the order cancelled. The order was not even placed with the supplier and the size is wrong by the agent's own fault and admission. My contract does not say all sales final or no refunds.
