I am a licensed Audiologist and Hearing Aid Dispenser. A patient was fit with hearing aids by Miracle-Ear in Kingston when several RED FLAGS were evident from his hearing screening. The person who completed the screening did not use proper masking procedures nor did he complete speech reception testing, word recognition testing, or tympanograms (based on document provided). If these tests were competed, the mandatory protocol is to refer the person to an Ear Nose Throat Specialist. This was not done and the patient was sold hearing aids. I do not feel the company acted in the best interest of the patient and misrepresented himself as a hearing instrument specialist.

Review: On July **, 2012 I purchased Miracle hearing aids for $4000.00. After over a month of complaining and many office visits because they were not programed properly, an agent from another office determined the RIGHT aid was defective. It was returned and I received what I assumed was a new aid. After waiting two weeks without proper aids, I was very dissatisfied with the service and the product and requested a refund. The Miracle Ear management's response was "to give us another chance." Hoping this was the end of the problems I kept the aids. One year later on November **,2013 I tried to insert the RIGHT ear aid while getting ready for work. It was dead and after replacing the battery it was still dead. I had no choice at this point but to proceed to work with one hearing aid. Made it thru the day with much difficulty and embarrassment. I called the Kingston office and went to the office after work on the [redacted]. It was confirmed that the RIGHT aid was dead and again had to be returned. Again I lost 2 days without pay. I called the Kingston office on Nov. [redacted] and requested to speak with some one from Management. I was told some one would get back to me. ONE WEEK LATER, DECEMBER [redacted]. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM MIRACLE EAR AND I STILL HAVE ONLY THE LEFT EAR AID.Desired Settlement: I request a complete refund so that I can purchase other reliable hear aids.

Review: I am filing this complaint on behalf of my mother ([redacted]) and my father ([redacted]) who purchased two sets of hearing aids from this company. The original set did not fit correctly and provided poor performance, and they were encouraged to purchase an 'upgrade' by the company. This set was improperly fitted and resulted in a part of the hearing aid becoming lodged in my mother's ear, resulting in an infection. Removal of the part required treatment by an ENT physician and medication. The company refused to stand by its defective product and the inability to properly fit my mother with hearing aids. A third set of hearing aids was purchased from a competitor of this company more than six months ago, was properly fitted, and has performed without a problem.Desired Settlement: We seek a complete refund of the ill-fitting and defective hearing aids ($3,515.00).

I have responded time after time concerning this and have been found to not be at fault by all involved.Their persistence is somewhat short of harassment and remarks are full of half truths and flat-out falsehoods, in short, we have followed all of the professional, local, and state guidelines including offering to turn [redacted] medical bills over to our insurance company along with all correspondences from them and our service records. If the insurance agency found any liability, we would be happy to pay for the medical costs even though I am absolutely positive that any problems that occurred were not because of our service.Short of sending you an inch thick envelope, I. will forward you a copy of our service record.
