Does not return calls concerning repairs/warranty. Called many times, left messages, emailed pictures, but not a single returned call or email.Mold was found in garage in early-August, called several times & no answer. I finally just left a vague message requesting info on a new home build (instead of warranty/repair issues) and my call was returned that week. He asked me to email photos and said he would get in touch with warranty. October 9th and still no contact. I have a door with moisture problems that also needs replaced and myself (and another builder) have been trying to contact this builder to ask how door & headers were installed so we can replace old door with a superior product and no one has returned those calls either. Paid $445,000.00 ([redacted]) for this newly built house in Sept 9, 2011. [redacted] Desired SettlementReturn a call and warranty your work!Business Response [redacted]in response to the question of warranty,all new homes come with standard one year ,this house was bought in 2011 , the warranty has long since expired.also the mold in question is beside the front step,so moisture has built up on the step,causing this problem ,we have never had this issue in 35 years so I must assume it is because the snow is not being cleared properly by the owners ,maintenance is responsibility of owner ,the back door issue is caused by the humidity to high in the house I never once said there is warranty on these issues , as warranty is from one year from purchase ,and warranty does not cover neglectConsumer Response Here is where I'm at regarding the complaint: I can easily prove negligence on the part of Mirage Builders concerning the water damage on the back door, which they themselves have stated is a humidity issue. We cannot properly control humidity in the house because they failed to install the main switch for the HVAC system. As for the mold issue in the garage...House wrap and vapour barrier are installed to stop water penetration. Both contractors who fixed the problem in the garage say the water got in because there was a defect in one or both of those steps and because the front stairs are draining toward the garage instead of away from it. As for our ability to remove snow from around our house. How would you like me to disprove those claims: photographs of our shovel, broom, and snow blower? Letters from neighbours or the bus driver who have routinely witnessed me shovelling/sweeping away snow? The reason I haven't yet officially rebutted [redacted]Mirage Builders's response is because I'm giving them the opportunity to make it right. I spoke with [redacted] on November 10th, and he promised to make a trip here this week to install the missing HVAC switch and have a look at the back door. I would like to give him the chance to do that before I respond unfavourably. [redacted]
