Review: Bad installation, inproper fit, counter top broken at installation,

did not provide complete installation or complete counter top parts (backsplash)

We contracted [redacted] with the contractors license # XXXXXX to purchase, fabricate and install a granite counter top, including back splash for our home. The total cost was to be $3,000.

We paid $1,000 (cash) for him to purchase the granite.

He than came to our home to measure for the template. He required another $1,000 to continue the work and he would be ready in about four days.

The next six weeks was full of excuses and reasons why it wasn't ready. He would not return calls to my phone so I would use a different phone and he would answer then. Finally he said he would be ready to install on Oct 8th (Tuesday). On Tuesday nobody showed up.On Wed. after numerous attempts [redacted] finally called me back and said he wanted me to come down to his shop in Chico. I drove to Chico and the counter top had not ben fabricated yet.He asked me some question about the counter top but mostly tried to convince me to buy an additional slab of granite for another $900 (cash) I did not do this. He said he would fabricate the counter today and be at my house the next day, Thursday. We waited all day and he never showed up.He finally returned our call late in the day and said he was almost done but didn't want to rush and promised to be at our house tomorrow, Friday. On Friday he never showed up. At 4:30 in the afternoon his wife called and said, "he has completed the truck was loaded up and ready to come to my house but thought I may think it's too late in the day". I said, "it was fine and we are waiting:. He never showed up. The next day Sat. he would not return our call so I drove to Chico and found him at his shop. The counter top I discovered was not loaded and ready but still in the shop not completed. His worker was in the shop working on the counter. He was annoyed that I was pressuring him. He said he was "almost" done and would be at my house in a couple of hours. The time was about 12:30 pm. He finally arrived in the dark at 7:20 pm in the evening. It was very obvious that he was high on something. He said that he and his worker would be in and and out in about 45 minutes. They were done in about 2 hours but did not bring the back splash. He tried again to get me to buy another slab of granite so I would have "extra". When I noticed that one of the sections being glued on was not in the same direction with the adjoining piece he just told me not to worry and that I could put a toaster there and that would hide it. He said it would all look good when he was finished. When he left he said he would be back after the weekend and requested the final $1,000. When I said he would have to wait he told me he wasn't very happy with that. He than abruptly left. The next morning I inspected the work. There was left over resin on all the seams . One added section was not only badly matched with the "grain" running perpendicular to the adjoining piece but also the front bullnoze section didn't match up even. One stuck out from the other. The two holes for the faucet were drilled over sized. The sink cut out was very sloppy and didn't match the contour of the sink. There was a crack in the granite if front of the sink. The corner seamed had black "magic marker" spots to make it seem to match up better (?). The final added section was cracked through out the complete piece and had a shatter on the edge. The apparently just glued it with resin and installed it anyway . The completed job is a disaster and his workmanship substandard.

I called that morning and left a message regarding the quality of the install. the damages, the lack of communication, the incomplete work, the constant no shows and that he came at night on drugs. I said he could keep the money for the granite, but I wanted my other $1,000 back. I told him I wanted to hear from him within 24 hours. Three days later he called and left a message. He didn't address my request he just told me my "message" was brutal.Desired Settlement: I paid a total of $2,000. He can keep the first $1,000 that paid for the granite. I want the other $1,000 returned to me. The fabrication was a complete disaster and the worst quality I have ever seen.

Review: Granite counter seams not smooth and bathroom sink and faucet set back in the new counter too far. Faucet had to be reversed to be useable .

Job date June 25, 2013. Owner asked for $2000 for product to get started. Total project cost $4000. Then charged $1000 for fabrication before beginning the job. The balance due at end of job. He asked for an advance mid- job and for the balance before the job ended. The contract stated work would be performed june 25 and be complete June 28. June 27 he was paid in full but he had not finished the job. He was to recut the bathroom counter and reset the sink and faucet. As of sept 6, 2013 he has made no effort to return and correct the fit problems.Desired Settlement: We have decided we do not want this person on our property again. He has said he would come back and fix the problems but he never shows up if he gives a date and time. We are done with him., but after suffering from such poor service both customer service and product deficiencies we just want to warn other potential customers.
