Review: I purchased a gift certificate from Laz & Laz Unisex Hair Salon located in Whitestone, NY for my Mom. She had kept onto the gift certificate for a few months and noticed that the expiration date was soon approaching. She visited the salon, showed the gift certificate and a male hairstylist told my mom that the gift certificate was still valid and advised her to make an appointment the next day. My mom also made an appointment for me because she realized that her services would not add up to the entire gift certificate amount before the expiration date. We met at the salon to have a fun afternoon together. When I arrived, I was given an unfriendly welcome and during my hair wash water splattered on my face/shoulders. I was brought to a chair WITHOUT my hair wrapped in towel and NO type of robe was given to avoid wet hair drippings. As I sat and had my hair poorly blown out in a quick manner, my wet hair dripped all over my shirt. They made my mom wait until I was done, even though she had an appointment. After my mom's services were done, she quickly told me that her shirt was wet (from her dripping wet hair), too. When it came time to pay she gave the lady at the front desk the same gift certificate she was advised was still valid, only for the lady to tell my mom that the woman who issued the gift certificate no longer worked at the salon and BECAUSE OF THAT SHE WOULDN'T ACCEPT THE GIFT CERTIFICATE! We ended up paying MORE even though we had a valid gift certificate to the salon! The gift certificate did not indicate what type of services my mom should get, it was clearly just an amount, signed and dated. We thought we could use the gift certificate and apply it to any services offered, apparently they had other reasoning. When asked why we couldn't use the gift certificate, the hair stylist that advised my mom that her gift certificate was valid looked on and did not say a word! In addition, this place is way over priced for the job that was done. Don't be fooled by the ambience!Desired Settlement: To be reimbursed in cash for the face value of gift certificate (I.e. $70.00). Because today we had to pay $75.00.
