Mission Bay Car Wash Reviews (3)

Review: I purchased a book of vouchers, each one valid for a hand wash. When I purchased them the business was known by the name: [redacted] Car Wash. Three vouchers from the book are unused. I have tried multiple times to use them or to get them refunded but the business refuses to honor them. When the business changed its name, outstanding vouchers should have been accounted for.

[redacted] Car Wash on the internet e.g. ([redacted]) when you click on Website takes you to the web site for Mission Bay Car Wash (http://missionbaycarwash.com/).Desired Settlement: Refund the cost of the three hand wash vouchers.

Review: I took my car in today, March 6th for the VIP car wash. I paid $30 for the wash. Once I began to drive home, I noticed that there were leftover cleaning globs in the car window inside door handle, the cup holders were not cleaned out and the windows have not been properly cleaned. Once I returned home and inspected the rest of the car, the car is still covered in mud and dirt on all sides. One side they did not wipe down completely at all and is still streaked in mud and dirt. There are still dead bugs smeared on the windshield and the car overall is filthy and does not look like it was recently washed. I could have done a better job myself.Desired Settlement: The car wash cost $30 and I would like to be refunded for the price of the wash. I would like other people to know about this business "services" before they pay money to get their cars washed here too.

Review: I took my car to Mission Bay Car wash for cleaning of the outside and inside of my car. I asked the salesperson if anything could be done about the dull look on one of the doors. The saleman told me that it would cost $300 to restore the paint on the one door. I told him $300 was too high and he offered to restore the paint on the door, touch up other areas on the car, and buff out smudges so that it would "look perfect". I asked what exactly they were going to do to the paint but all the sales guy kept telling me was that "we'll take care of you", "its gonna look like new', and gave me no details. I know nothing about buffing out smudges and polishing cars so I trusted him, thinking the price was just industry standard. For the total cost of $300 (before tax), the salesperson guaranteed the car would "look like new" on the outside and he included stem-cleaning of the seats, vacuuming the interior, and shining (Armor-all) the interior surfaces. I then made a specific request to thoroughly clean the center console as it has bagel seeds in it and soda spilled. He agreed to this and offered to steam clean the carpets for an additional $60 which I declined.

When I picked up the car 2 hours later it looked washed and waxed on the outside and the dull look on the door was gone but a closer look revealed places where the wax (or whatever the finishing coat is) wasn't fully wiped in, there were steaks everywhere on the body of the car and water spots on all of the windows. The coated metal liner between the window and the door looked like they took a sand blaster to it; much of the coating was coming off! It did NOT look like new on the outside. Upon inspecting the car's interior I saw that the center console had barely been touched, there were still bagel seeds, sticky soda, and dirt in the coin holder, cut holders, and on the sides of the center storage compartment. Upon further inspection I noticed that the door jambs had NOT been cleaned and there was dirt in the carpets! I opened the hatchback window and it was still covered in dirt; obviously they had not even opened it! They left dirt and sand all over the back area, and there was a black oily mess pooled in the corner with greasy smudges on the plastic sidewalls. At that time I picked up the car, the shop was closing so the employees refused to finish vacuuming it and by this time the salesman had left! Obviously, I had not gotten what was promised nor what I a paid for.

After I took the car home, I got quotes from other auto detailers and a body shop and learned that paint restore on the entire car, not just one door, would cost $150 - $175. I also learned that the servies they described would take 4-6 hours to complete. I am very disappointed that this company took advantage of my ignorance and took the opportunity to cheat me and over charge me for their services. I took the car back in the morning to speak with the manager, he agreed that they did not do what was promised and offered to spend another 2-3 hours cleaning it. I told him that $300 was far too much money to pay for the services they offered and far exceeded industry standards. I told him about the other quotes I got and his response was "well, you didn't take it to those other places, you brought it here and we had a verbal agreement". I then let him know that despite asking for details, the salesman would only tell me that the car would "look like new" and would not give me an exact description of the paint restoration process, nor was I provided with an itemized receipt of the work completed. I also reminded him that the "verbal agreement" was that my car would "look like new" and that he had just admitted that my car did not look like new and offered to spent another 2-3 hours working on it! I let him know I was willing to pay for the steam cleaning and the wash, buffing, paint restoration work on the door, and wax but anything over $100 was unreasonable. He refused to negotiate or credit back any money. I am now disputing the charges through my credit card company.Desired Settlement: Partial refund to cover actual services rendered. I am will to pay $90 for the service I received; $60 for an "Express Wash" + $30 for steam-cleaning and the minimal vacuuming.
