Review: This is a dental office. I'd been going for several years, twice a year, for checkups and cleaning. I went in for my scheduled appointment. Basically, the hygienist, the dentist, the office manager tried to upsell me on more expensive procedures, told me that my regular dentist was out on medical leave (implied mental), that she had not been doing a good job, had neglected to tell me of problems with my teeth that they were finding, and tried to bully me into having the procedures done immediately (at a significant out of pocket cost). I declined and requested that they just go ahead and do the cleaning for which I'd been scheduled (for six months), and I would consider the other recommendations. My "measurements" of my "pockets" were considerably greater per the hygienist than they had ever been measured before. Quite frankly, I wanted a second opinion based on the dramatic change in my condition per their personnel.

They were very angry with my refusal and kept me waiting over 45 minutes before I got my cleaning even though that's what I was scheduled for originally. Basically, the entire experience was very unpleasant and disconcerting.

I sent written communication in several forms and never heard anything back. I eventually found out that the practice had been sold by my prior dentist. I continued to receive communication reminding me that I needed to schedule my maintenance appointments. I finally contacted my dental carrier and switched providers. I also looked for reviews on the new dentist I chose as well as this dental group. I found that many many people had also experienced the horrible experience I had. So my complaint is not an isolated case.Desired Settlement: Based on my experience and that of many other patients, I think a record should be on file with the Revdex.com.

I'm also reporting them to the

Dental Association. However, since it's a business, and they are exhibiting unethical practices, I think it's appropriate for this complaint to also be registered with you.

Review: I completed a root canal/crown procedure in January 2015, and was quoted to pay $631.80 out of pocket. I paid it, but received a statement for $883.20 about four months later. When I called the office to inquire about this charge, I was told that my one of my insurances was rejected and that I should call them to make sure I have the right ID number. I called my insurance company and discovered that the ID number I provided to the dental office was incorrect. I provided the new ID number to the dental office and hoped that this would resolve the charge. About a month later, I received another statement asking me to pay the same amount of $883.20. I called the dental office and was told that it can take 30 days for the change to be processed, and to receive a revised statement. They also told me that statements always go out on the 1st of each month, and that I should wait a little longer to see if it is resolved. A couple of weeks later, I received a letter from their collection agency to pay the full amount. I was scared because I had never had a bill go to collections, so I decided to just pay it. I called the dental office and paid a balance of $683.20 via phone on August 7th. I was given a $200 discount as a customer service gesture. Only three days later, I received an August statement with an adjusted insurance payment in the amount of $463.20. I assumed that this amount was a reflection of the corrected insurance number I provided, so I called the dental office to make sure I didn't owe them this money. The representative at the dental office told me that I definitely don't need to pay more to them, but if anything, I should be issued a refund for over payment. I was told that I will be contacted once the office manager is notified, but I didn't hear back for about two months. During this time, I periodically checked my HSA account to see if I was reimbursed. When I called the office to inquire on October 13th, they said they wrote the amount off.Desired Settlement: I would like Mission Dental Group to refund me the amount of $220.00, which is the difference between what I paid to them (683.20) and what their August statement (with an adjusted insurance payment) wanted me to pay ($463.20). I don't believe that it is justified for them write this amount off when I have already overpaid them. The timing is off as well. I paid them on August 7th, but received an updated statement around the same time for a lesser amount, so I believe that my true balance I should have paid during this whole time is $463.20.

Review: I had dental service at Mission Dental Group. I have great insurance. They performed some root canals and crown service. Each time I had dental work they reviewed what my insurance covered vs what my costs were. They never let me leave without paying them what was due For one of the services I opened up an account with Care Credit to pay $1099.00 for dental work uncovered by my insurance. I did this while in their office. The following year I received an invoice for $1099.00. It had no description of what this was for. When I called them I told them I paid this already and that this must have been an error. They acknowledged that they were not quite sure what is was for either. They later sent me an email advising that they "thought" it was for a upper left crown but that they would review my account. They indicated they would need a few more days to work on it. Instead they sent my account to their collection agency [redacted] with a demand to pay within 30 days. They still cannot give me any specific details regarding this. I guess they expect me to pay it blindly.Desired Settlement: I'd like them to withdraw this from their collection company [redacted] and provide a detail explanation providing specifically what the bill is for and when the services were performed.Any reasonable consumer would expect that!

RE: MARVIN [redacted] ID NO.: [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted],

Customer service is important to Mission Dental Group and Orthodontics and we strive to ensure

our patients are happy with all aspects of service and treatment. It is truly unfortunate that Mr.

[redacted] is unclear with the payments made for the treatment he received.

Mr. [redacted] received $2,198.00 on treatment and elected to pay via Care Credit. We posted two

payments of $1099.00 via Care Credit and upon reconciliation of his account we learned we only

received payment on one of the transactions. As such, Mr. [redacted] has a remaining balance of

$1099.00.

In closing, it is our intent and desire to exceed our patients’ expectations by providing clinical

excellence and superb customer service. We have instructed Mr. [redacted] to contact Care Credit

and confirm the forgoing.

Respectfully,

Mission Dental Group and Orthodontics
