After 9 years of calling the same apartment home, I no longer feel safe. I no longer trust MGW for their negligence.
5-1-15 : Maintenance came to fix the leak coming from my garbage disposal after business hours.
5-2-15 : Maintenance came, while I was at work to fix the wet wood/cabinet left under sink from the previous night. When I came home, later that evening, I noticed a new board under the sink for me to set my cleaning supplies on. At that time, it appeared to be fixed properly.
*URI/asthma/fatigue doctor visits began early June, 2015.
*During the time that I was sick, my boyfriend Tj began to clean the apartment for me. He bleach cleaned the air vents, linoleum, walls, shower, etc. and vacuumed well all in an attempt to make me well. But I never became well.
8-6-15 : Due to ongoing illnesses and process of elimination, Tj became concerned about the possibility of mold growing under the kitchen sink where we had discovered the leak three months prior.
8-7-15 : 10am, I called MGW to request that maintenance go to my apt and check under the sink for mold. At that time, I also requested that they change the AC vent filter. 12pm, I called MGW on my way home from work (break) to ask if they were able to check for mold under sink. I was told by management that maintenance had been by to look and that they would be back to address any possible issue. After arriving home, I looked under the sink and found it undisturbed. Frustrated, Tj and myself pulled out the board that had been put in place 5-2-15 to find that the old, wet particleboard/cabinet wood had been broken into pieces and left behind. It was crawling with mold of three different colors(white, fuzzy green and black). I immediately took pictures before having to head back to work. On my way back to work, I stopped by the office to show management what we had found and told them that it was completely unacceptable. After leaving the office, I called my mom. She advised me to get a sample. I immediately called Tj and told him to get a clean q-tip, collect a sample and put it into a new ziploc bag. While on the phone with him, I could hear maintenance banging on the door in the back ground. 5pm : I called the office again to make sure the issue had been addressed. I was told that maintenance had sanded the inside of the cabinet, applied bleach and then painted it with Killz. They also failed to change my AC vent filter.
Never once was the mold tested, it was just covered up. Never once did they issue any type of apology.
*That evening, I noticed a slight improvement to my health. Within three days I noticed a drastic turnaround in my health
