Mission Kitchens and Construction

Review: We entered into a contract with Mission Kitchens and Construction on 2-21-13 giving the owner a check for $4,000 per his request, to start the "plans" for a remodel of our kitchen. After 4 weeks of not hearing one word, I called Dave Goebel, owner, and he said he hasn't had time to work on our plans yet. I called him weekly for an update and he always said he still had not had any time to work on our plans. We decided to find another contractor. We called him in 4-8-13 to cancel the contract. He said he understood and since he hadn't worked on our plans he agreed to pay back the $4K. After several more calls we did finally receive $2,000 the end of April. He still has not paid us the remaining $2K as promised. I have called him weekly and he said he just doesn't have any money. This is extremely frustrating. We feel very violated. This is our first experience dealing with a builder since moving from Orange County last year. This is NOT what we expect from a company in San Luis Obispo County. I hope this complaint will prevent other consumers from using this company and getting ripped off!Desired Settlement: We would like the remaining $2000 returned to us as promised. It has been 4 months since we gave Mission Kitchens and Construction our deposit in good faith.
