Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, Cemeteries & Crematories Reviews (%countItem)

My mother and father purchased plots at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North several years ago. They decided to not use them and donated them to my brother and myself. Mission North offered to allow me to purchase the option for a second person in the same grave site. I opted for the second person burial option with the understanding the plot was mine regardless.

Problems are: Mission Park North keeps billing my parents at my address for the additional burial. Several contractual issues here:
*) My parents name should not appear on any of the new paperwork as plot was donated to me free and clear.
*) I have requested on 6 previous occasions to have this corrected and bill me at my address.
3) The incorrect billing indicates the contract still involves my parents, when they should be resolved from any liability and it appears Mission Park North is attempting to make payment of the additional *nd person burial contingent on the *st plot (which was donated free and clear of any liens or contractual obligations whatsoever).
4) This is stressing my parents out (both 89 years old) because they see the liability is still theirs.
5) Why is this not in my and my wife's name? I have asked this question repeatably and have not received an answer or response of any kind, just the same incorrect billing.

Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, Cemeteries & Crematories Response • Mar 11, 2019

Dear Mr.,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your concerns. I have had a chance to retrieve the records for *** and *** and show that they have owned two spaces defined as Spaces and *, Lot *** in Section *** of Mission Burial Park North since ***

With regards to the two spaces described above, our records indicate in July of ***, your parents *** and *** purchased and both signed off on a contract for second rights on Space of their two spaces. on this Space, they indicated to us that the two interment rights would be used for ***. and ***.

With regards to Space *, *** and *** in July of *** purchased a memorial marker for *** Ron ***, indicating that the interment right to this space would be used for him.

We do not have any records that indicate that the property was transferred to either you, your spouse or *** Ron. From our standpoint however, it is clear that your parents intentions would be that the three of you would be interred in this property. Your parents, as the lot owners, can confirm this by sending a letter to us that we can place with their records for future reference.

Since *** and *** were the purchasers of both the second rights on space and the memorial marker for space *, the statements will continue to go to the address they provided to us at the time of purchase when they entered into that agreement with us.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Mission Park Funeral Services does not seem to have a full understanding of what took place on the day of the *-plot property transferral to my brother and I, although they know intrincly what happened. As of this morning (*** MAR *0*9) they want my parents to again appear at their facility to sign additional paperwork to accomplish what should have happened the day of property transferral.

When Mission Park (MP) personnel were told my parents were utilizing their burial rights at Ft Sam Houston and were transferring their plots to my brother and I, how could MP possibly get the idea my parents wanted a double burial? This is still confusing, incorrect and unexplained.

Why is Mission Park still billing my parents at my address for a double burial? I received only one burial plot in the property transfer, so I opted to accept their offer of $5,000 for a second burial in the same plot.

I signed the $5,000 loan and I let them initially bill my credit/debit card, so the loan is in my name - where is the problem? I have repeadly asked MP to bill me in my name and remove my parents from any liability. So far, they have refused unless my parents sign additional paperwork, meaning what did they do?

As of *** MAR *0*9 Mission Park's intention is to continue to incorrectly billing my parents at my address for a contract I signed and initiated. This incorrectly indicates my parents have some remaining liability. This is still causing undue stress and confusion.

We am having great difficulty finding the peace of mind Mission Park promised me and my family when I signed the paperwork.

Regards

Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, Cemeteries & Crematories Response • Mar 12, 2019

Dear Mr.,

I emailed you this morning at your request an explanation as to why your parent's had been receiving the bill at their residence. This was simply because the contracts for the second rights on one of the spaces and a memorial marker for your brother's space were executed by both your mother and father who acknowledged such by their signature on each contract. You mentioned that all were present during this transaction, yet when it was written and our counselor obtained the information required for our contract, this was the information provided. The monthly statements henceforth are sent to their address, regardless of whom is actually paying for it.

I mentioned in my email that we can change the billing address with a written request signed by both of your parents. This can be done in our offices in the presence of one of our representatives, or send to us a Notarized statement with this request signed by them.

We fully understand based on your reply that your parent's intent is to have their remains laid to rest at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. With regards to the two spaces they own, one would be for the use of yourself and wife, and the other for your brother. Although there is not a written document in the file stating this, it would be beneficial to have as part of our records for future reference if needed.

We sincerely apologize for any undue stress and confusion that you or your parents may be experiencing. A simple change of address will stop future statements from going to the address we were given. Additionally if you chose, you can pay the actual fees to change interment rights to the property. There is however no need to pay any additional fees for this by just having them designate the spaces to you and your brother. I do not see any documentation in our records that specifically states that. I am acknowledging that the spaces are however for you and your brother.

Sincerely,

***

Mission Park

I honestly wish I could state by words my review. IM DEFINATELY not happy with this place. AND now that I read the reviews, I should have known better. My daughter passed away from Ovarian Cancer 26 yrs old and fought for 3 years of her life leaving behind a 4yr old baby girl who is now 5yrs old. So as her mother and grandmother to my granddaughter I wanted NOTHING but the best for my daughter. I have struggled so much with paying off a beautiful stone worth 11,700 custom made and now have 1 plot out of 3plots paid for. I cant place her stone till all plots are paid off even though I'm financing the other 2plots. When your loved one passes you are NOT in the right frame of mind to read all the detailed contract (MY MISTAKE as a GRIEVING mother). I try my best to maintain and always visit 3 or more times out of the week to see her. Ive had issues with this place since I planted green grass and died due to NO WATER available even though there is a sprinkler system 1 foot away from my daughters plot. The excuse Mission Park South gave me was that the CITY OF SAN ANTONIO shuts off their water and they get it access when the City permits them to have it on. We cut our own grass since the grounds workers seem to not care about the customers who keep Mission Park South in business by running over stones and moving them by bumping them with the machinery they use. I have personally seen them run over the stones yet they claim they have no responsibility to the damaged stones that are literally destroyed and damaged by Mission Park South workers. I DONT give them any reason to cut my daughters plot so WE maintain and take our own weed eater and cut our own grass. I place flowers on all corners of plots which will definatly show me whether anything is damaged by the grounds workers. I am very upset that I have had solar lights stolen from my daughters plots. Mission Park South claims they are not allowed but I don't see any harm in them and at least 60-75% of plots there have solar lights. This cemetery should STILL be vigilant on the property and make sure that things of this nature are not stolen. I am very upset about this cemetery not caring about the people who keep them in business. HONESTLY IF IT WASNT FOR THEIR GRIEVING FAMILIES, THEY WOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS. SO THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE REPORTED TO THE CITY DUE TO THE WATER SHORTAGE AND THE TREATMENT TO THE FAMILIES AND THE DAMAGED STONES AND STOLEN ITEMS FAMILIES LEAVE FOR THEIR LOVED ONES!
